Location and helpful staff provided a comfortable base for my hospital day surgery

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

Jerry F TripAdvisor review

We needed a hotel near Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for an 07.30 appt for day surgery. We chose this hotel for 2 nights because it had a car park,an on site restaurant and a room with a walk in shower. We had a newly refurbished room which was a bit minimalist but clean & quiet, bed was comfortable & everything worked including the heating controls.Breakfast was good value(£12 if booked in advance),Good choice of bar food.Service in the bar and reception was efficient and friendly. They were happy to arrange a taxi to take me to the hospital which arrived on time.,When we got home I realised I had left a crutch in our room.I rang and they swiftly located it and kept it safe until I could collect it the following week. There was much renovation work going on but no noise between late afternoon until about 0930.

Dear Jerry, Thanks for this review about your experience. We're delighted to hear that our location was convenient for your visit to the nearby hospital and that you found our staff to be helpful. It's also great to know that the car park and on-site restaurant added to the comfort of your stay. Our team is pleased that you appreciated the refurbished room and found it clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed and functional heating controls. We take pride in our breakfast offerings and are glad you found it to be good value. It's heartening to hear that our service met your expectations, both at the bar and reception, and that we could assist with arranging a taxi for you. We are also happy we could safely hold onto your crutch until you were able to return for it. As for the renovation works mentioned, we ensure that any such activities are carefully managed to prevent disturbance to our guests. We thank you for appreciating our efforts to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We hope to welcome you back. Best wishes, Supriya Rai, Guest Relations Manager

Satisfied stay due to upgrading of Hotel

Satisfied stay due to the on going upgrading of hotel. This is our third visit in a year. Tow points to bring up. Building noises starting at 7.45 am The cheek of adding 10% tip automatically to the drinks at the bar. Which can embarrass the customer if they decide they don’t want to play this. Service is always included in the price of an item and extra should be left for the will of the customer.

Everything was fine. The Ibis Earls Court will always be my preferred choice in London

I don't think I have space for all the issues, but will be following this up with a formal letter of complaint.

Newly refurbished Executive room, where do I start and finish. Bath/shower is lethal, no grab handles and with having to exit at the slopping end of the bath very dangerous. Also narrow gap next to a fixed glass panel, and quite a drop out of the bath make it worse. All of which ended up with my wife slipping over in the bath. All which will be covered more in a formal complaint letter. No towel rail to hang a wet bath towel on, which if they had installed one at the end of the bath, could of also acted as a grab handle. As far as I can tell it is impossible to run a bath or put the plug in, without actually having to climb into it. I would love to see how house keeping, clean it. No shaver point in bathroom, luckily mine didn't run out until the last day. Shaving mirror is practically useless, with having to lean over the sink, and a very bright light, I couldn't see a thing. Heating wouldn't go above 19 degrees, issued with portable radiator. Light over unit with kettle is on a motion sensor, so you get up in the night and trip it, going into and out of the bathroom. The one in the bathroom at floor level makes sense, this one does not. All the electricity cut out one evening. Obviously who ever design the room, never actually tested it out, or even barely thought it out. Anyway why put a bath in, other rooms just have a shower, rather than a totally impractical useless bath/shower.

Not quite as advertised

No-one expects every little problem to be mentioned before - but work starting at 8 am even on Saturday and Sunday not what I expected. Maybe I missed the notice saying the hotel was having building work commencing 8 am inc Saturday and Sunday - the noise really ruined our stay especially over the weekend
