Not corresponding to mercure standards

After arriving at the hotel, we have realized that the quality does not match the mercure standards. The privilege room that we stayed in had a bathroom with a showers that did not correspond to the photos, old and neglected. There were dark depots in the toilet and no selves. Similarly, in the room only 3 hangers in the minuscule closet, the furniture with the mini bar was quite dirty and old. 3 drinks in the minibar were offered with the room, on of them was already open and half-empty. The curtains were torn, and stitched, with several stains. The air conditioner/heating equipment was letting out cold air, we had to use the heater of the bathroom to heat up the room. The venting system was full of dust. Only positif thing is that bedding that is quite good and clean. The hotel is at a neglected condition, wallpaper is detached or torn at several places, the bar chairs are not stable. No control for the breakfast, nobody is asking for the room number. At the end of our stay, we were also charged 2 glasses of wine that we did not have. Thankfully the person at the front desk was understanding and removed this erroneous charge. Also, it is noted during reservation that water bottles are offered for privilege room, there are no water bottles. You have a water fountain for each floor but no glasses(except the carton ones in the bathroom) or an empty glass bottle to fill and take it to your room. They say you can buy an isothermal bottle for 15€ at the front desk. For the money payed for privilege room, they should leave this at the room for free use and charge it if you take it with you. For the breakfast though there were vittel or San pelegrino water bottles, there should be a water fountain in place, there were glasses to use. I totally respect the “save the planet” attitude but this attitude was not client friendly and certainly was not present for the breakfast buffet.

Hotel located 10 minutes by foot from Lille Train Station. Overall 8/ 10. Situation is very close to Lille city center, train station and metro. Reception service: 9/10 warm welcome and very professional service. Breakfast service: 0/10 staffs at the breakfast area is not very friendly at all, we was say hello to his/her, they never say hello back and always ignoring us. That's weird. (2 guys and 1 woman at the breakfast service area) - we were stay here for 3 days, during our stay his/her always ignoring us. When we have arrived and waiting for our room. I tried to order something to drink, he just looks at me and just walk aways. So I have to go to the reception to order the drink instead. (breakfast is classic nothing special - juice, bread, omelet, eggs etc). Room & Amenities: 7/10 Bed and room are ok but shower is was slippery when is wet. Bar: 9/10 (night service bar). She was very nice and friendly. Thank you very much. Only one negative point, there is not many choice of beverages.

This is a great hotel, brilliantly located for centre of Lille. I've stayed here many times and have found the hotel to be clean and tidy with friendly staff. Good value for money.
