This hotel is well situated to explore Brisbane city. Easy walking to locations in the CBD & Southbank. Room was good. However a couple of things upset us. My wife & I booked the hotel for our Anniversary. I tried on 3 occasions to ring the hotel to discuss the Anniversary celebration, using the number on the hotel’s website, but the phone was never answered. I also tried the recorded option of “New Booking” and got through to Accor in Sydney. They connected me to the Mercure Brisbane King George & the same thing happened…no answer & cuts out after a few minutes. Consequently I sent an email to the address given on the hotel’s website, thinking that would solve the issue. At check-in we were told there was no record of the email there and when shown a copy of the email, the receptionist advised that the address we used goes to Sydney, not the hotel. To the hotel’s credit they did surprise us with an Anniversary welcome card and petit-fours. The other issue that was upsetting was that we arranged a late check-out via our Accor membership status. My wife and I spent some time at the pool prior to leaving and returned to our room about 1 hour prior to the check-out time, to find that our door keycard would not open the door to our room. I had to leave my wife standing outside our room in her swimming clothes while I went to reception. Unfortunately there was a queue at reception & I went to the concierge to explain the matter & asked could they assist without me having to wait in the queue. I was told “No” and subsequently had a 10 minute wait in the queue while my wife had the embarrassment of waiting that time in the corridor locked out of our room. Not a great Anniversary experience. A third issue that I feel needs commenting on is that a “Henry” vacuum cleaner was left lying on the corridor floor outside our room from before 2pm when we arrived to after 7pm when we went out for dinner. It was definitely a trip hazard with its long nozzle and barrel. It was gone when we arrived back around 11pm.
