The staff at this hotel exemplify excellence, from the valets at the front to the room service staff, the front desk, the pool area, and the Gold Lounge staff on the 8th floor. Booking a Gold Room is well worth the premium, it was a busy working weekend for me, so having breakfast, coffee, snack etc handy while I was doing a lot of writing and attending an event at the hotel over the weekend made it feel like a break and not a working weekend. From getting last minute nail appointment to a being able to swim and get some sun in Mid-April was a blessing. Taking time for morning walks in the forest was very good for the soul. Whistler is a truly magical place and being at the Fairmont makes it a luxurious gift to yourself.

Very bad experience

1) soon as we got there, someone pooped in the big pool and it got shutdown. We were left with our 6 year old crying the whole time. 2) the day after we checked out, I realized someone had used our room number to order pool side service.

I am wondering if the incorrect pool charge was a result of multiple rooms under the same name - that being said, I have removed this pool charge and refunded the VISA on file. A little blindsided sadly.

After an exciting build up to our stay we discovered upon check in that our company gift certificate for $750.00 was not accepted as it was validated via a third party web site. We had called the hotel directly before our booking and were misinformed that we would only need to present our gift certificate and receive a credit after having had booked our stay on our credit card. When we called we asked all the right questions regarding our gift card but once we arrived we were advised that someone may have made a mistake as we clearly explained and the booking desk agreed bud couldn't offer anything on any level of accountability. We could now only use the gift card for anything except our room booking. A big let down to say the least. We have shared our experience with friends and colleagues and needless to say no one was impressed that the Fairmont couldn't offer any compromised assitance. I'm in the customer service industry as I own the Lordco Auto Parts service facility with over 152 retail outlets in B.C. Customer service has always been a paramount focus for our company after 33 yrs.
