Was given a twin room at the higher rate so not great

Good Afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. After looking into your booking, you were booked on a block through your company and the rooms are allocated based on what we have available. Nice hotel, good parking, easy check in. Room, good size, dusty, could have been vacummed and dusted better, bathroom, good, looking tired and well used, but fit for use. Leisure facilities excellent, had very good swim and use of the spa. Dinner in restaurant, available food from the menu was slim pickings, presentation was messy, but quality and taste of the mains, were fantastic, simple fish and chips beautifully executed. Carbonara, tasted fresh and lovely. The chips where some of the best ever., we even ordered extra to take to the room. Simply outstanding. Overall very good stay, hotel simply looks tired, through use. But underneath, everything was excellent

My son and I were given a double room with two double beds. Everything was neat, clean and comfortable including the beds. Then we opened a door without knowing it adjoined the neighbouring room. We were surprised this door was unlocked as the neighbour seemed to be away and his belongings were there right by the door. Of course we did the right thing by calling Reception and asking for the door to be locked. The first night was fine. The second night however was horrendous as what seemed to be a young family were put in the same neighbouring room. Every word could be heard clearly, and the crying baby more so. The father appeared to be a fan of Drake as he played his music while singing along. Again, it was all clearly audible. I had to tap on the door, which seemed to provide virtually no sound insulation, in order to indicate I wanted him to stop. The main points I wish to convey are: 1. We should not have been placed in a room with a neighbouring door. 2. The door did not provide sound insulation 3. A young family with baby should not have been placed in a room with a neighbouring door when a baby is prone to make crying sounds. 4. I would like some type of refund or credit as the lack of sleep from our second night was due to the mistakes made by the hotel.

As an Accor member I love to go to hotels in different cities collecting experiences. I took my mum at Tankersley Manor for a late mother's day treat. I felt the Barnsley Mecure left a bitter taste in my mouth. The staff at the Spa were really dismissive and inattentive never mind the 3/4 slipper beds for a whole hotel. The staff at the restaurant for our evening meal also continued with the poor service waited for some minutes before we were looked at in the face. Before we even set down we were being asked what drinks we would like with no drinks menu. We were also set on a table that was not set and told the rest well set ones were reserved. We were sleeping guests in the hotel with pre booked and pre paid dinner as a package. I honestly could not put a finger on what attributed to the poor service. I was not sure if it was down to racism or just simply poor service. This is by far the worst service I've received as a paying customer in UK in a long time. Our room was lovely, beds were comfortable but had molds on the shower floor and was next to the laundry or something as we kept hearing vibrating washing machine sounds.Somebody had to have a room next to the linen cupboard hey.I was so annoyed with the service that at this point I'm noticing everything that I wouldn't normally pick on. The positive parts of our stay was the gentleman with the red patch in his hair at the reception,was quite warm,accomodating and helpful The beds and pillows in the room were really comfortable. Breakfast was lovely,fresh and tasty and the lady called Helen sitting us for breakfast was very professional and welcoming . I wouldn't revisit Tankersley Manor again. I didn't feel welcome.
