Old hotel with charm

TripAdvisor rating 4.0/5

Pilbarette TripAdvisor review

A lovely old hotel with lots of history. A book detailing the beginnings of the hotel can be found on the bedside table in your room. The rooms are a little dated, but they're very clean and the bed was comfy. Coffee making facilities and a mini bar fridge, with reasonable prices is in the room. The restaurant and bar offer hearty meals and a good range of drinks. The breakfast is filling, whether you take the continental or full. Don't forget to use your Accor/Mercure card for substantial discount. A gated parking lot, with a code to enter, was comforting. Only downside is on the Heritage named side of the hotel, there are no elevators. If you can not handle climbing stairs with, or without, luggage you may need to find a better wing of the hotel. Overall, I had a very good stay. The staff are wonderful and very attentive.

Convenient to the Civic Centre

The rooms are well appointed, comfortable chair to sit in, but very uncomfortable bed. Tiles in the shower area were slippery. Meals from the restaurant were delicious and reasonably priced.

Excellent when travelling with Fido

We stayed with our mini poodle in one of the dog frowndly rooms which had plenty of space and access to the small yard for the dog to exercise. We found the location of the hotel to be convenient to Civic (10-15 min walk). The in-house menu has a good selection and tasted great!

Nice and clean.

Only one night and we were in and out but the dog barking in the hallway was quite annoying. Unsure why dogs were in the rooms. Must be pet friendly not relaxing.
