I booked two rooms but the hotel when we arrived only thought we had one so the second room was onto the back and not garden front room. Also there was only one bottle of water as if the room was for one person. The main issue was the cost of breakfast at 16 euro per person it was way too much for a hotel of this standard and we did not have breakfast

We were asked if we wanted breakfast upon arrival, we had intentionally not pre-booked breakfast. We said we would let the manager know if we did. We did not require breakfast but this was added to the bill. I telephoned the hotel and spoke to the lady on reception 10 minutes after leaving and she said she would refund my card for the mistake, I have still not received the refund. Not only should I not have to see if I have been overcharged I should defiantly not need to chase this up, it is very poor service. Please confirm when I will receive my refund

Arrived at 23:00 to be very warmly welcomed. Had room 228 where the tv remote control was missing the battery cover and had been repaired with gaffer tape. Room clean but showing it’s age. Breakfast was very poor with the staff of young ladies not seeming to be motivated or care. Half the tables were full of dirty plates and not cleared away and the other half not prepared. Dropped food around the self service dishes (scrambled eggs) not cleared up. Food correct but hardly better than a standard Ibis. I watched for 20 minutes as the girls looking after the breakfast area did nothing to clean or tidy up. They appeared to not even have the slightest intention or understanding of what to do. When I checked out I wasn’t even asked how may stay was.....

« Reception and room excellent. Restaurant service and particularly the cooking standard let hotel down »

We were received very courteously. Hotel decor attractive, fittings good and bed comfortable. Grounds pleasant despite light industrial surroundings, with good parking provision. But all was overshadowed by a less than memorable dinner and breakfast. A chicken dish which sounded good on menu turned out to be lumps of rather dry chicken breast from what appeared to have been a shortcrust pie from which we had a very small amount of sauce and a large amount of small crumbled pieces of the shortcrust pastry, so the whole dish had the appearance of something which would be prepared by an incompetent nanny for a nursery child. Breakfast next morning was also a disappointment compared with other Mercure hotels where we have stayed. No one greeted us on arrival in the dining room or indicated where we could sit and what food was available. There was no yoghurt on offer nor decaffeinated coffee provided. Not Mercure’s finest hour.

Very good but it was disgraceful that the welcome drink did not include my wife. Connection to the internet was Very difficult for us and also the staff who struggled with it. Moreover being given only six hours at a time made the problem worse. This is the 21st century and should be easy-to-use and totally free for guests.

« Good hotel let down by poor breakfast »

Room clean and well presented. Breakfast let it down. We were told it was served until 11 o’clock, however at nine o’clock, no tables were set, and a lot of the selection had not been replenished. No orange juice, no cold meats, very little fresh fruit. Staff ignored the problem.

Overall the stay was good. It is a pity that to get to our room we had to go outside to access the main enterance. I understand that not everyone likes pets but to expect guests not to have under cover access to the hotel is not good. There was a coach party stating the same night/morning as ourselves they were obviously given the impression that they had first option to the breakfast room and did not take kindly to us sitting at "their" tables!!!

We had booked a table in the restaurant for dinner and on arrival we were informed there was no chef and it was a light weekend menu - not good news on a Friday night after a 7 hour drive! Also in the room for two people we had one 33cl bottle of water - this cost cutting is not good!

A big parking around the hotel. Very friendly staff both with check-in; check-out and in the restaurant. Nice room with great bedding. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Fast check-out service is excellent. I forgot my after shave and within 2 hours front desk send me a e-mail to inform me. Small criticism: I would not recommend room 206 (and probably 05&07 because it’s situated right above the smoking zone from the bar&restaurant. I left my room open during dinner for freshness but it turned out to be smoked. It gives also noise until the venues are closed. Overall a nice stay.
