« A lovely place to stay »

We have stayed here five or six times before and really like it. It is close to the autoroute yet still close to Brive centre. It is set in a large park with plenty of free parking. The rooms are spacious, breakfast is copious, the staff are welcoming and it has a super outdoor pool.

Not bad, the bathroom has been refurbished which was great, lack of coat hangers in the wardrobe.

« Excellent stay, convenient stop en route »

We stayed here for a night while en route to Spain. Excellent, friendly service, clean, comfortable rooms, excellent dinner and breakfast. Location close to the highway make it a perfect stop en route.

« Disaster (désatre) from arrival onwards »

On arrival were told that "we are sorry but the restaurant is closed as we have a Rugby team here" NOTE: no mention of this when our reservation was confirmed with Cecile? We were told Room service was available or Pizza at the adjoining F1 Hotel. We ordered some wine to be served outside on the patio - was surprised that there were weeds (mauvaise herbes) everywhere on the paving - very poor! On checking with Emma ( a most helpful lady at the Bar) who rang the F1 to tell us their Restaurant was closed! Our only option was Room Service and we chose "Pavé de Saumon, écrase de pommes de terre" to be served in the Bar and after at least 30 minutes a tray arrived with 2 x glass pots (obviously from the Micro Onde) with a mixture of salmon and potato inside - 'Vrai & Bon Prestige' served on a small plate - SO unappetising, we sent the two dishes back and just ate some brown bread. We did complain to Emma who apologised and assured us we would not be charged. Later in our room, I had gone to sleep and my wife turned back the duvet to find ' a large brown stain' on the undersheet and had to fold back the sheet over the stain in order to sleep? This was reported to Cecile and Emma in the morning and they did apologise and agreed to take off any charges for wine that were on ou account. As we had pre-paid for the room she informed us she could not make any reduction. TO MANAGEMENT: HAVING PAID 78.40 EUROS FOR THIS ROOM - I FEEL THE LEAST ACCOR HOTELS COULD DO IS REFUND ME AT LEAST 50% IF NOT THE FULL 100% OF THIS CHARGE. It is a pity that the standards at the Mercure Brive were so poor and the state of the building outside was unkempt (négligé) - not the usual Mercure standard? We must state that your staff member Emma was a great example of excellence in this Hotel and went out of her way to help us. I await your response. Cordialement M. Alan -

Bonjour Monsieur Alan M., Je fais suite à votre email concernant la nuit du 31 mai 2019 et vous prie d’accepter mes excuses pour le délai de réponse, ayant pris quelques jours de vacances. Je vous remercie d’avoir pris le temps de nous écrire à la suite de votre séjour et suis désolé que le service et la prestation n’aient pas été à la hauteur de vos attentes. Vous aviez réservé initialement une chambre pour la nuit du jeudi 30 mai, en tarif non annulable, non modifiable, et non remboursable. Vous avez cependant souhaité modifier cette réservation au vendredi 31 mai, ce qui n’était pas possible selon les conditions de vente de votre réservation. Bien que cette réservation ne soit aucunement modifiable selon la politique du groupe Accorhotels, nous avons cependant accepté de décaler votre réservation pour vous être agréable, et pour ne pas perdre votre argent. Nous ne vous avons pas facturé les frais supplémentaires car nos chambres étaient bien plus chères le vendredi 31 mai avec un hôtel complet grâce à la venue de Grenoble rugby. Notre restaurant est fermé du vendredi soir au dimanche soir inclus comme cela est spécifié sur le site AccorHotels, site internet où vous avez effectué votre réservation. Notre room service, d’habitude très apprécié de nos clients ne vous a pas plu, nous vous l’avons donc offert, une fois de plus afin de rendre votre séjour le plus agréable possible, pour une valeur de 30 €. Enfin, vous nous avez souligné le 1er juin au matin un souci de propreté du drap dans votre lit, et je tiens à vous présenter nos excuses. Je reste dubitatif sur ce point, étant donné la qualité du travail de nos femmes de chambres largement apprécié par notre clientèle et comment ne pas voir un drap ainsi taché en tete de lit ?Je m’interroge cependant, pourquoi ne pas avoir signalé à la réception le soir même le souci, nous serions intervenus en quelques minutes pour changer le drap ? Dans tous les cas, à titre de compensation et en vous présentant nos excuses, nous vous avons offert l’intégralité des boissons consommées de la veille pour une valeur de 40€. Votre réservation initiale payée et qui n’aurait pas dû être modifiée ainsi que notre geste commercial dépassant les 70€ ne me permettent pas d’aller plus loin. Je peux néanmoins pour un prochain séjour chez nous vous proposer un sur-classement gratuit, n’hésitez pas dans ce cas à passer directement par moi. « Awesome staff »

Booked via Accor central reservation over the phone, using 120 euros of points.Room cost 80 euros, paid 6 euros on card for surplus, and arranged for a 40 euro credit towards the evening meal.All good, until our arrival....they had NO notice of the 40 euro credit,and even worse , the restaurant was closed, and is apparently ALWAYS closed on a Friday. (presumably a business hotel). Total disaster....we had to drive and pay for a meal elsewhere, instead of the cosy evening with wine we had planned. However, Cecile, the Mercure lady at reception,was AWESOME, and deserves a reward from Accor.She dealt with my basic French, phoned central reservation, and got my missing credit reinstated. The mistake shouldn’t have happened,but at least she was able to limit the damage. Well done Madame!

We arrived very late at night but were still very good received by friendly staff. Maybe a point of attention was the austere breakfast with not a lot of choice, but still satisfactory. Checking in and out very efficient.

We chose Brive la Gaillarde as a good location to revisit the Dordogne. The hotel is set in spacious grounds with a fine terrace. We were very disappointed with our room, 313, which was cramped and nonfunctional. The padded corner-piece turned out to be the wardrobe. Very little space and no shelves or drawers. We had to move chairs around to accommodate a Rollator (walking aid). The restaurant was another disappointment - the choice of main courses was limited to four. But to cap it all there was "No Hot Food" on Friday evening and apparently Saturday and Sunday as well. This hotel is an asset to the Accor group that has possibilities that are not exploited. I have been much more satisfied in an Ibis.

The reception staff were extremely polite, very helpful and create a top impression of the hotel. However, the two staff in the restaurant and bar were not and do not do the hotel justice. I have never been served in a restaurant in France with 'torn jeans' which were totally inappropriate . About time they were given a dress code and told to be more welcoming and helpful. We also felt that the food was not as good as two years ago. A shame as breakfast was excellent with polite helpful staff.

Your staff is 5 Star, really! The staff is doing its best and was at any time extremly friendly and helfpufull despite the fact that your hardware, meaning the hotel itself, the plastic, cheap, quick fix, property is running old and you can not hide anymore the missing invest. The noise from the HVAC outside is just the top of the icberg. I whished I had payed the same money to another individual hotel or hotel chain with a soul. I like hotels with respect and love to their property. I had hoped for a Hotel with soul and not IBIS-Style - "plastic bag style". What is the difference between IBIS and Mercure anyway, besides the price? We all know that Accore comes in extremly handy on business travel but it is no fun to stay at your hotels for leisure. Thereafter I stayed at the Hotel Best Western Carlton Annecy and I found the soul again I was missing at Accor. Sorry to say this but you had asked for.

Overall the stay was good. The staff were welcoming friendly and gave my two dogs Molly and April a warm welcome. That might sound unimportant but to dog lovers it is not. The staff were attentive and not fussy.
