« Nice hotel and beautiful site, very good cooking, but bad service in restaurant and bar »

We have mixed feelings about our stay. We liked the hotel and the surrounding Castle and woods, but there were unacceptable problems with the service. We have the feeling this was linked to the fact that we came with a Bongo Bon and that everything has to be cheap. There was clearly missing a manager. - At the hotel : we had to ask at least 4 times to change our cards since only one of them or none was working. The rooms were rather dusty because of the carpet on the floor and the couch in the room. - In the restaurant : the attendant Jessica proposed to take another bottle of champagne that wasn't on the menu card but didn't name the price. When we asked for it it was 120 EUR!!! When we said it was too much she showed a negative reaction. The menu cards given to us were full of food stains and there were some ants crawling over the table. To be honest we didn't mention it the first day but we did the second day. We were proposed the menu for a Bongo Bon. The waitress explained that we could eat from the card but then only 18 EUR were deducted from the price. This seems us much too little since 70 EUR was paid for the dinner with the Bongo Bon for one night (170 EUR in total). We paid for an additional bongo bon later by reservation. With regards to the Bongo Menu there was only choice between 3 menu's, from which one was vegetarian. Since we were staying 2 nights we asked for another choice the second day. Jessica would ask the chef but the second day she said that the chef didn't want to make another menu. So we really didn't have a choice the second day. The second day we talked about the ants (still crawling on our table) and the waitress replied "I don't know why". I have vacuumed this morning. Dinner was twice very good but the chef had forgotten our vegetables and the first day I really had a very small piece of Salmon. this was presented without any vegetables. - In the bar : after dinner we went to the bar: we sat there for nearly half an hour and were leaving. Going out we saw Jessica and told her. She called for her colleague and only then someone came. We ordered an Irish Coffee (It wasn't on the menu but the guy was eager to prepare one for me) and a bailey's. The guy poured some Whiskey into the glass and disappeared again for over more then 20 minutes. After that we heard some giggling coming from another room and a second man came into the bar and poured another glass of whiskey without saying anything or addressing some kind of apology and left again. My wife hadn't even received her bailey's yet in the meantime. We then left the bar and made our complaints to Jessica who just answered by saying that that wasn't her fault but her colleagues and that she was only there for the restaurant. This is the reason why we find that there was a manager missing in the restaurant. Needless to say that the second evening we didn't go to the bar which is a pity because it is very cosy and nice to sit there. The bread was very difficult to cut with our knives and to chew which we don't understand for France is well known for its bread culture. This was also the case for the bread at breakfast, which for the rest was very,very good. We can assure you that we have regular stays in France (even in other hotels from the Novotel Group) and that we usually don't complain easily but this was really not worth the price that has been paid and certainly not worth paying for a second night. We were surprised since we know that this is not common for the Novotel Group. We hope that our comments will help you in the future.

« Very good, lovely breakfast »

The hotel was full due to a wedding but our room which was on the upper floor above the reception area was unbelievably quiet :o) Quiet air conditioning as well. Beautiful setting surrounded by tress and fields, ample parking also. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, couldn't fault them which is rare for a french hotel. The only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast and there was everything you could wish for. An important meal for us English and they got it spot on. Particularly liked the individual brioches. Should we need to we'll be back without hesitation ☺

it was very nice to spend a week-end at Novotel Château de Maffliers, the place and the surroundings are beautiful. The service and the food are very good, my only critics is about some guests staying at hotel the night of April 7th (Sat to Sun) and making a lot of noise in the middle of night, I was staying at room 151 and I believe many other clients have been disturbed as well.

Pleasant experience but lack of attention to guests , the services are not personalised . Only one of the staff at the reception made us feel we were recognised as regular customers ., the majority of the staff don't seem to enjoy their job , just do a job ... no motivation. No problem during the stay but at fast checkout, the hotel billed me for break fast which I did not take and has been neither apologetic about it nor easy to deal with, as if it was my fault that breakfast has been billed. And absolutely no attempt to search for my CC number to reimburse me, alleging that since everything was done by internet, the hotel did not have my CC number. It is either not true ( after all Ibis hotels can do it), or Accor needs to update its systems for Novotel. BTW, that policy of charging breakfast automatically is a corporate policy and needs to stop. It is very inconvenient for guests and even if it is a source of profit for Accor, it is not nice for guests.

A same day booking was made for me to stay at this hotel. A ground floor room with bath was confirmed. When arrived at 21.15hr the Receptionist said "I was lucky to have a room"... it was not ground floor, which had specifically been requested as my dog was staying with me. The alternative was on the first floor at the far end from the stairs &/or lifts. It smelt badly of damp & had no shower. What is the point of confirming a specific booking and providing an alternative. Appalling service, total lack of care or professionalism. I left immediately and recommend others never to stay at this hotel.

We were staying for an overnight stay whilst traveling. I booked the executive queen bed sized room. We should of had towelling dressing gowns and slippers in the room as part of the package, this was NOT the case but is usual in other Novotel hotels. Also there wasn’t a hotel booklet that tells you what services the hotel offer and reception didn’t have one either. This is poor against the hotel as guests do not know what is on offer. As a silver club member I should have been given a free drink of a water bottle this again wasn’t offered. Other wise it was a typical Novotel hotel. Staff was very pleasant and helpful

« Great hotel in a lovely setting »

We have stayed here a few times and every time had a good experience. The location is perfect - close enough to Paris but far enough away to feel like you are in peaceful surroundings. We found getting the train in to Paris from Maffliers station very easy. We will definitely come back here next time we are in Paris. Thank you.

We enjoyed staying at your hotel but were very disappointed to find out upon checking in that the indoor swimming pool and the sauna were closed for renovation. The main purpose of stay at your hotel was to spend time at the pool Your front desk tried to contact me by phone in advance to inform me about the pool being closed, but unfortunately I missed their call and did not listen the voicemail message they left. They could have sent an email too to make sure I was informed, as I would have changed the date or cancell the reservation

We came for the 2nd time at this hotel : old room with stinky carpet. Only one woman was amazing the rest was complaining when we were asking favor as towels as nobody came to do our room the 2nd day. Really sad

Due to the fact that there was no room for me during my 3 nights stay, even with a confirmation by reservation with the app, they did everything to give me 3 nights in the same hotel, 3 times different. But the restaurant was terrible, even disgusting. If it is possible, I come never back again.
