The room in general smelt very bad. The entrance hall contained bad odour from feet/socks. The pillows, blanket and mattresses contained body odour (transpiration). Overal it didn't felt like a fresh hygienic room. Would not come back again.

First of all, since I booked via my Lufthansa discounts site I had a very good deal however if had had to pay the regular rate I would have been quite disappointed - compared to other Novotel I have stayed in, there is clearly room for improvement here. I stayed in an executive room which I would not describe as executive - the room was dated, the walls need more than just a coat of color and please re-think the choice for brown. The bathroom was almost entirely brown, it was so dark in there that it was almost impossible to see anything in there, the room had a bit less brown but still - light colours make rooms seem bigger, cleaner, friendlier - hotel room should be friendly, clean and spaceous - no? The quality of the linen is a thing with Novotel, just not the softest, there are hotels that seem to manage having really soft fabric, Novotel's is always a bit scratchy. The location of the hotel is really beautiful with the huge, lovely garden (inclusive. pool and playset) and the park just next-door - absolutely peaceful. Also not too far from the city centre. Staff was friendly however staff at check-in was a bit slow and seemed not interested too much but maybe it was a wrong impression - the table with the cucumber water had tons of used glasses around - first impressions! All in all - ok but nothing that left a special impression, sorry to say. Maybe for this location it is also not necessary...

Check in and out were quick. Room was large and clean. Minus was having 80 euros held on my card on arrival in case we wanted to buy drinks, food, etc. We'd rather have paid directly when actually buying. Two days after checking out, the money is still on hold despite being assured it was released as we didnt buy any extras.

Useful stop off point when heading south. Helpful staff is the good news. Not so good news is that the accommodation is very tired - e.g. stains on the carpet in my room; flaking paint on parts of the walls... The restaurant menu could be a bit more interesting...
