« Good but with many problems »

No good communication between the employees. Two rooms for 5 days cancelled without permission and 1 of our Key Account Manager with no room. Not a good behavior of the employees with us.

The hotel was in an excellent location for Charles-de-Gauille airport and Parc Asterix. The room met our needs but was a little tight for 3 (1 adult, 1 child, 1 teenager). Breakfast was lovely, but dinner choices were a bit limited.

The issue that I have experienced was: We had an issue with the air con in our room, It was not working and was reported to reception Immediately, The room was blowing hot air and was 30 degrees!. The receptionist said that she would re set it on the computer, we left for dinner and returned late, upon our return our room was still boiling, with only one tiny window that opened inwards so you couldn't then shut curtains (and we was ground floor so couldn't leave it open). We again reported it to the same receptionist while going for a drink in the bar who said again she needed to do it on the computer and would do it now. When we again returned to the room, it remained unchanged, This time I rang reception as my daughter was asleep and she asked to come to look, she came to our room and said she would look into it and would ring us with the outcome (she never did ring us back as promised), sometime later it seemed to come on and blow a little colder although the thermostat still showed 30 degrees and was unable to be changed to make the room any cooler , this didn't last long. In the night after midnight we woke boiling and the air-con was once again on the same setting showing 30 degrees and wasn't working, consequently no one got a decent nights sleep and was up all night very hot, my daughter had a very unsettled night , at this point I saw little point in going once again to reception as nothing had been done the last 3 times we had reported it, our request for a fan was also ignored. The room had also been obviously recently renovated /painted(there was dust and paint/sanding dust everywhere )there was still masking tape on the walls from the painting, the top of the door when we hung the towels on it showered us with white dust , and the grill in the air con was covered in a film of white paining dust., as was the walls if you ran your hands over them in parts you got covered in a white dust, like they had sanded something after painting and not wiped down after, this was very poor. I have stayed in many novotels before and the one in calais many times and never had an issue like this, The receptionist didn't even bother to come back to us and seemed unbothered about out concerns, she didn't offer to move us to another room or try to resolve our complaint and didn't ring us bak as promised.I would have never with the predicted weather have booked somewhere without air con and this was a deciding factor in choosing our accommodation for our park Asterix trip,

« too many buses with kids running the halls »

buses.kids in halls screaming. parents screaming. stayed here several times. the only person at desk was a stagiare who said there was nothing that could be done. get a regular employee there especially when you have buses . will try again to stay with you.

« Stop over on the way to Calais »

I was very disappointed on this occasion. The previous two stays were great but not this time. Upon arrival reception had no details of our booking even though we had prepaid. The restaurant was a disaster. We ordered dinner, a bottle of Champagne to start and a bottle of wine to have with dinner. The waiter, whilst being a nice guy, didn’t have a clue what he wa doing. He got the order totally wrong, delivered starters and main course together, I had to chase him twice for the Chapagne which we opened ourselves and then had to chase him for the wine.

« Ideal 'stop over' location prior to meeting in Paris »

No surprise at all. I stay at this hotel from time to time on my way to business meetings in Paris area. Rooms are clean, staff is very pleasant. Only negative... food quality is going down over time. Used to be a quite good restaurant. Today menu selection is quite limited and basic (burgers, salad). It would be quite easy to improve it by offering some traditional and more qualitative food.
