The telephone in our room was not working so everytime we c=wanted something from the reception, bar or resturaunt, we had to walk down to the lobby area. This got evry frustrating. Also, when turning in for the noght, we pulled back the cover only to reveal stains on the sheet. As there was no one from house keeping available, the night manager had to find some clean sheets and we had to make up our bed befre retiring for the night. The next morning at breakfast was also a dissappointment. Even though it was only 08:00, there was no crosants, pastries or much bread left. The milk for the cereals was just standing on the table top and was luke warm. Overall, could have been much better and frankly, not the level of service or comfort I would have expected from a Novotel!

We stayed as part of a business seminar and found the whole stay pretty frustrating. I was appalled to find a dirty bottom sheet on the bed and by the time I discovered this it was too late for the hotel to do anything about it, so we had to change the bed ourselves! Not a satisfactory situation! When we arrived for breakfast the following morning all the pastry baskets were completely empty as were many of the hot food options. We weren't even late - this was 8am in the morning! In addition there were no decaf tea or coffee choices in the room or in the restaurant. There was rarely anyone on reception and it was a complete pain to get out of the car park and often had to get out of the car to get someone to raise the barrier. The staff in general (apart from Orla who was wonderful!) seemed to have a couldn't care less attitude. We will be returning to Coventry soon for another seminar but it won't be at the Novotel!

« Standards have slipped »

A big let down from previous years. Despite an on-line booking made months ago, reception struggled to find our details quickly. There was also a huge lack of cohesion between the restaurant and reception as we were asked to prove that we had paid for our breakfasts. The staff ought to have checked and not expected the guest to leave the table to sort out the mess. We can only assume that there had been a large party of guests before 9.00 am. as there were 2 pieces of bacon and no fried eggs left. Thre members of staff standing around and we had to make them aware of the shortages. We also had to ask for cold milk to the coffee area and then tea spoons. The scrambled eggs were dried out and the sausage tasteless. So as you can guess, in having to fight tom prove we had paid for it, we wished we hadn't. The staff are pleasant but not switched on to the basics. When getting ready for breakfast, a cleaner knocked, then entered the room ..... at 8.45 am. After breakfast on Sunday we decided to have a cup of tea outside, using the same table from the previous evening. We discovered the table hadn't been cleared so brought the glasses back into the hotel ourselves. A reminder that staff were standing around and our family were the only people in the restaurant. The ladies on reception and bar staff were very pleasant. It just needs people to wake up and busy themselves. Room nice and clean and we loved the grounds which allowed great peace of mind for children in the play area. That exit barrier is disliked by visiting taxi drivers. Always waiting for someone on reception to see the departing vehicle. The hotel is in a great central location, just needing staff and systems sorting.

Checked in and enjoyed room however were there for a special concert birthday treat and no one told us about early breakfast due to conference next day so no breakfast available despite paying fir it when booking Promised customer service would contact us but they haven’t even bothered Disturbed in morning by room housekeeper entering room when we were still asleep in bed Would not recommend and definitely never use again

« Most overpriced hotel in the world »

We do not have a problem paying £416.10 for two nights room only if the room turns out to be worth that. This room was adequate at best with no bath and a lot of dust (photo available on request). We have stayed in many hotels and this is the only time we’ve ever felt like the hotel has pinned us up against a wall and robbed us. Please refund us some money so that we have paid a fair price for that very average room.

The staff at the Novotel we stayed at although not terrible, was not attentive to the customers at all. We booked the rooms with my work colleague about two weeks in advance and payed on one card, yet we got rooms on different floors. When we asked whether it would be possible to get rooms on the same floor, the man at the reception desk, without checking anything on the system, notified us that they are fully booked. When we had our dinner at the restaurant, the staff was yet again not really interested in helping and did the bare minimum. The following morning, when we tried to order some beverages at the bar, there was no one there to help us. Overall, the room was nice and tidy, but we did feel a bit unwelcome.

Was not told about additional £5 for parking the car. Hidden charge in the back of your website. I stay frequently in hotels in the UK but not normally so locally. I have stayed in much superior hotels for half the money. Expected more for my money. I would not recommend Novotel.

« Good stay for our family trip to an event at the arena. »

Very convenient for the Arena - about a 15 minute walk through an industrial estate - and matched my expectations for the price we paid for the rooms. I was surprised not to see anyone at reception when we arrived, and it was frequently unmanned. It would be good to have a bell or call system, or just a note to say someone will be with you shortly if this is standard practice. The staff all seemed helpful enough, the rooms had plenty of space and were clean. We had food delivered to our rooms, and it was fine, if somewhat over-salty (we had ordered pizza), and they had forgotten to send a drink we had ordered. Plenty of parking on site which was what had made me chose it over an AirBnB type option. Breakfast was good, reasonable variety and quality.

« Some confusion »

Check in with Anna and room were faultless but must say I was disappointed to be confronted over breakfast to be asked to go to reception mid meal as it was suggested I had not booked breakfast and then when I told the server I would sort it out later I wsa then approached again by a gentleman asking me for my email as evidence. Not the best of service and another couple in the restaurant on the adjacent table rather amused at my perils. At check out I needed to have the laptop on to evidence the email room plus breakfast.
