The hotel rooms should not be qualified for 4 stars hotel; I have been in IBIS Hotels with much better rooms; Conference rooms are very good, breakfast also very good but the rooms are terrible; I stayed one day without towels in the room

« I expected something more »

The hotel is not as central as one would expect by seeing the map. You can walk to the city centre in half an hour more or less but it's not a pleasant walk, as it's quite hilly. The room I had was fairly big and comfortable but both toilet and bathroom with shower were actually tiny booths with not much freedom of movement. Plus I noticed a leak in the toilet booth with drops of water coming from the ceiling that eventually dampened even the carpet outside: I notified the reception and they apologized but no maintenance was done (a towel was placed on the floor by the cleaning staff but that's all) and I wasn't offered another room let alone an upgrade (as I would expect from a four star hotel). On a positive note, our waitress, Magdi, took very good care of us (I was in a business meeting), very kind and ready to make us all comfortable.

« Room was not clean like the previous times and the breakfast was not so good neither »

The room, 921, on the top floor, was full of spiders. Was staying in an Executive Room with 2 windows; on both windows, outside of the windows, there were a lot of spider webs with a lot of spiders. The cleaning lady would come in to clean the room, open the windows and those spiders would come in and make their spider webs inside my room. Had to ask the reception for 3 times for someone to come in an remove those spider webs and spiders. Not all of them were removed and as a result, the room continued to have spiders in it. It is not a pretty sight and it definitely is not a nice experience to be sleeping and waking up because something is crawling on your face or body. Then the breakfast, not everything was prepared by even 07:00 - 07:30. People kept bringing things in on the breakfast table. But still, things were running out quicker than they were brought in. Also, the eggs were not boiled and cooked properly (there were a lot of juices that smelled weird inside where the eggs were placed) and the croissants were not baked properly and they were raw inside. Told the Supervisor about it and was informed that there was something wrong with the oven. Same thing happened in 3 consecutive days until I stopped caring and stopped trying to have one but this shows that the issue was not fixed. Other than that, the coffee was not refilled in the room as was not the sugar and milk/cream for the coffee. Had to buy my own coffee, sugar and milk from the Super Market. Finally, the WiFi coverage and speeds were completely unacceptable. Coverage was really bad, couldn't connect from most spots from within the room and when I was able to connect, the speed was really bad. Couldn't also use my L2TP VPN to connect to work because someone is blocking UDP ports 500 and 4500 for some reason.

It was clean, staff was helpful and friendly. Key card didnt work with the elevator and I also managed to block my keycard and had to go 3x to the reception to be able to enter my room.

Very good and very clean hotel. They provide nice vegan food during the conference without any problems. Beds were comfortable and we had a good night sleep. The inter-connecting room was quite handy too with my family staying with me

The room (803) was full of spiders and spider webs on the lamp shades, in the corners of the room, above the drapes and coffee point. When I call down to reception to complain, a cleaner was sent up with a broom and proceeded to clear the spider webs which simply raised the dust and drove the spiders to other areas. Please note, I am asthmatic and raising the dust like that was the last thing I needed. I instructed the cleaner to stop and I asked to speak to a manager. The supervisor came to the room where I proceeded to show her the poor quality of the room. I was transferred to another room and given a drinks token. I must say I have stayed at various Novotel hotels before, but this was appalling.

Continued issues with air conditioning not working and ekevators out of service. Hotel staff were not able to give answers and were not sincere in trying to solve the issues for myself and work colleagues. Will not stay there again if had any choice.

« Nice, middle grade hotel »

It was good. The air conditioning being off when we arrived made the first night not easy to sleep. The breakfast was good, except the eggs seem to be off. Loved the outdoor breakfast seating. Elevators seemed to be taking a long time, it would definitely be helpful when you get that third elevator working. My room had two twin beds which is really uncommon for adults to sleep in a twin size bed.

« The staff are friendly and very professional and I always feel very welcome. »

The hotel has a nice feel to it and even during busy times the staff are calm and professional. The food and service in the restaurant are excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. During my past recent stays my room has been too hot and I've had to leave the window open to try to cool it down. I believe the Building's Air Conditioning wasn't switched on at the time. A few times I haven't received replacement coffee when my room is serviced but it is a minor issue and has been resolved if I phone reception. I always look forward to my stays at the Novotel Budapest City.
