« Great Hotel, poor description of Bed sizes (Booking & Reality) »

We stayed for a business trip over the weekend, after booking 2 x Queen Rooms with the hotel, we received a 'Free' upgrade to a Double bed! Expectations of a Queen size bed is generally larger than a Kingsize in the UK, not here! After a terrible experience with taking our payment, the hotel requested for a second payment of over 370 Euros, leaving us short on spending money for the weekend, if we didn't pay we would be expected to leave on the Saturday. After pending payment of 371 euros was taken from original card, we had to wait for this to be returned to our card. 70 euro deposit was required, which if paid by card would be refunded by up to 2 months after checkout, or take 70 euros cash on check out 12pm Sunday when we were due to leave so could not spend the euros Bad attitude from reception staff when room was requested with larger bed, they like to argue with customers and get irate! Complimentary upgrade and mini bar were offered, nice of them, only to find everyone was offered the same.

As a Novotel should be, good location, close to the RAI metro station that takes you in 1O min to the old city centre. Parking at the front of the hotel but at 29 € for 24h.

We booked a room for three adults.we got the room around two o'clock, and went out to town.when we got back around 9 pm we saw that the room was set up only for two.the sofa was not offered, bath towels and cups for two only. We called the reception who promised they'll arrive and didn't arrive.an hour later we called again but there was no answer either from the reception or the house keeping for long time. Disappointed and tired we slept on a sofa not offered and one of us did not took a shower. We complained wen we left the hotel, they didn't seem to care.

Nice overall experience, staff had been kind and friendly in most occasions. Little coffee shop had been useful for the morning coffee to go. Room was clean and specious for 2 friends traveling. Nice bathroom amenities. Maybe a more practical way for shower gel, shampoo and hand soap could be a liquid refilling option, it is more ECO friendly too, though. Easy access to airport, just 2 stops on sprinter, easy access to the city as well. More than one option to go - u aren’t stucked if u miss the train.

« My favourite hotel yet! »

We had a lovely stay at Novotel Amsterdam City! Firstly the hotel is beautiful, well decorated and immaculate, and not only is it located perfectly for getting to and from the airport (RAI station is just a five minute walk) it is also extremely accessible for getting to the city centre via the tram service (also a 5 minute walk). Every member of staff we had an interaction with were extremely pleasant, polite and hospitable and the bar and shop were also fantastic.

We had a very pleasant stay, good service at all times great facilities and staff couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the rooms and facilities. Had everything we needed including information of the area. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. On our first day the TV didn’t work and one of the reception staff in the evening was very blunt when we asked her a few questions.

The staff where lovely and check in was smooth. The hotel is nice and modern also. During the night I was woken up by a couple somewhere in the building having a massive argument. There was lots of loud banging and seemingly throwing things. Next I was woken up at approximately 4:30 with what I can only assume As cleaners. They where shouting back and forward with each other up and down the corridor. After waking up go start the day, I then realised I was suffering from neck pain form what I can assume was the pillow. Overall I don’t think I will be returning in the future due to this.

The receptionist (unfortunately I do not know his name) was very kind and friendly. He even upgraded me and my friend to an executive room just because we were giving off a good vibe. That has never happened to me before and I really appreciated it. Seeing a bit of Amsterdam from the 15th floor, drinking a coffee next to the window and having a nice chat with a good old friend was perfect for the weekend. Everything was impeccable. I would return there without second thoughts - not because I'd be hoping for another room upgrade, but because I had a pleasant experience and that's how names and positive reputations are built nowadays :)

Recognition of our Le club loyalty program with an upgrade was appreciated. The proximity to public transport was very convenient and the amenity and surrounding was very nice. Buying tickets to public transport is card only. Ivana D our restaurant table server provided friendly service and a few helpful tips
