We booked for the location, travelling through Metz for one night and needing dinner late in town. From that point of view it's great. Unfortunately the hotel wasn't the normal standard I expect from a Novotel, and our family room was 3 star quality at best. The separate WC in the family room looked like something out of a seventies hostel. The outdoor pool was certainly not heated so unusable. Still not clear from the website whether it is supposed to be heated or not. We knew parking was not on site, but hoped basically next door in the St. Jacques public car park. Unfortunately the height restriction and our roofbox meant having to look further away. The girl on reception tried her best to see if she could get us on the small forecourt (as others seem to have done from reviews) but it was blocked by a coach before we could park. Hotel duty manager was extremely unhelpful after that and more than a little rude. We parked in an open public car park 400m away overnight, which was OK but a worry and certainly a risk. If you value your car don't stay here. Buffet breakfast next day was very good, but on balance I wouldn't stay again. Needs a new manager and some money spent on the rooms and corridor spaces to justify the rating.

« I had a rapid and sound reservation yet the communication with the hotel was rather difficult. »

We enjoyed having two doors between us and the coridor. The separation between shower+sink and toilet set, into two rooms, can cause some hygienic issues. The bed made some specific sounds when pressed in some areas. Our opinion is that 0.5 l per day, of mineral water, for two persons is an inappropriate ration of water. Please do firmly consider building an exchange cabin and a shower in the swimming pool area. Please consider extending swimming pool programme from 7 to 23.

The Novotel Metz looks very uncared for both inside and out. We had two rooms as we were a large group, the suite was ok, it was clean and the beds were comfortable but the other room was shabby and not very clean. There were no toiletries and the WC had a very unpleasant smell. We changed that room and the other one was better. The whole hotel is in need of a face lift. The photos on the website are not really representative of how the hotel looks today. The one thing that was great was the staff, as always the Accor staff were friendly and helpful.

« Great location, roomy suites but need a few more doors and stain removal! »

We found the central position of the hotel ideal for our two-night stay. The hotel staff kindly let us park our minibus/van in front of the hotel as it was too tall for the car park. Breakfast was fine and the bar area attractive. On the less positive side the two suites lacked privacy and the second floor suite, especially, had some permanent stains on the carpet and furniture. There also seemed to lack adequate sound-proofing. There was no door between the two sleeping areas in the third floor suite and no door to the bathroom in the second floor suite. Our daughter was a bit embarrassed to have her shower when we were in the bedroom as we could see into the bathroom when we were on the bed. So we had to go into the other room. Fortunately our three boys were in the suite on the third floor so the missing door was less of a problem. I paid a promotional price for the suites but if I had paid the full rate I would have complained. The swimming pool was definitely not 26°C as advertised,more like 22°C. We have a pool at home and know what 26°C feels like! So a mixed hotel experience.

During our stay, we appreciated the lobby, bar and enjoyed a good food at the restaurant. I also have to mention the kindness of all the employees we met. However, we were a little bit disappointed by the higher level. The hallway smelled stalled, we had a room that was probably renewed years ago and that also smelled...

Air conditioned room was a great respite from the hot hot summer! We were grateful that you could accommodate our family of 4 plus a dog without a booking, after delays on the channel crossing meant we couldn’t reach our ultimate destination. Nice breakfast too!

The worst hotel - sorry I would not call the room facilities a hotel rooms but more like a hostel or even hospital rooms in 80s in European countries. First of all shocking view when entering the hotel - homeless people making their physical needs in front of the main hotel entrance. Second of all - cockroaches running on the reception desk on check in papers and receptionist making the bad smile to terrible situation. Third of all and the most important and horrifying HOTEL ROOMS. To make it brief: 1. Old, dirty, with plenty of stains carpet 2. Dirty, moldy and not cleaned (with hair on the floor and in the bin) bathroom 3. Windows so dirty that you could not look outside 4. Curtains stinky and with plenty of little wholes from cigarettes 5. Windows sill with wholes and lacks of paint This is just to name few KEY ISSUES. Even after complain and replacing the room we (family of 4) were afraid of sleeping there but as we travel 1000KM there was no time and strength to look for new facility. Novotel METZ is not a NOVOTEL STANDARD HOTEL - and I traveled across many of Novotel hotels in France. This is definitely and shall not be 4 star hotel and I will be writing official complain with pictures to NOVOTEL MANAGEMENT to reclaim the paid amount as it was not worth a single Euro. To sum up: Terrible, Horrible, Unpleasant NOVOTEL hotel in France I been to. Will never ever reccomend this to anyone.

« Nice place for a stopover »

We used the hotel as a stopover place whilst riding through France into Luxembourg. Word of warning everywhere is shut on a Sunday so was really difficult to find food on arrival in the town. Nice hotel in the centre of town. Breakfast was pricey but seemed to be the going rate for French hotels. Another warning....if it's hot sunny weather the slate surround to the pool gets very hot. I burnt my feet whilst walking to the steps.

« Great spot for a night's rest. »

I stayed at Novotel in Metz for one night. The room was nice and clean and provided good privacy between us and our boys. We loved the breakfast and we loved that they had Xbox - Kinnect in the lobby. My boys played until the late hours. The staff were also very friendly. I was very happy with the experience.
