« Room generally alright but overall experience not good. »

We had chosen this hotel on our way home from our house in France. We always stay in Ibis hotels, enjoy the comfort and cleanliness and feel at home. On this occasion, we were looking forward to a nice meal and a good nights sleep. We were met by a young man, showing us our reservation on his phone and suggesting we opt for a rapid check out, paying in advance etc. We agreed as we were tired and saying we would eat there so that would suit us. He then informed us that the restaurant was closed p, on a Tuesday evening, as "it's a holiday tomorrow and they have been working very hard" which we considered an insufficient reason to inconvenience their guests. I am currently suffering from limited mobility and He recommended a creperie which was much further than the 500 yds he quoted, so we set out on a wet and windy night to arrive at the restaurant to find it closed. All in all, not a good experience and we won't stay in this hotel again.

« Good overnight stop to avoid night driving »

Arrived on ferry to St Malo and wanted overnight stop nes Rennes. Selected Ibis Beaulieu and wa a good choice. Secure car park was a bonus. Pity about Route Barre when driving from Rocade to hotel which could have been mentioned on the booking confirmation email.

Wonderful staff but the rooms were advertised as air conditioned which they were not! We had 4 children with us and it was a really challenging stay as the children were exhausted by the heat.

« Adequate but tired »

The accommodation was adequate but tired. However, in fairness, the rooms are being repainted. The quality of the food was poor - we'd have been better off going to the Macdonalds opposite. Not what you should expect from a French hotel. The location is all right if you have a car. Otherwise, you need to rely on public transport to the centre of Rennes.

« Not up to the expected standard of an Ibis hotel. »

Stayed at this hotel quite a number of times over the past 14 years, even before the refurbishment and underground car park, but the standards have definitely dropped.The last time was in early August 2017 when my wife and myself decided we would never stay there again. Although our room was acceptable there was a strong smell of bad drainage in the passage on the ground floor. The breakfast room was satisfactory but the breakfast itself was very basic and we continually had to ask for some items of food to be replenished. Some of the ceramic bowls were chipped and generally the standard of cleanliness of the cutlery very poor. If you wish to stay at an Ibis hotel near the periphery the Cesson Sevigne Ibis is more than satisfactory, but the Saint Gregoire 'Styles' would be my first choice, especially since the most of the rooms have been refurbished.The car park is safe with the gates closed at night and now there is a very nice restaurant next to the hotel.

« My room and meals were OK. I was dissatisfied with the checkout »

My problem was checking out of the hotel. My room was prepaid with breakfast and I just had to pay for my evening meal and drink at the bar. I object to being overcharged , I had a coke at the bar in the evening and was charged for two. I tried to explain this to the male on the checkout . I think he understood what I was saying but was unable to correct it. He made a phone call as no one else was available to help. He then tried to charge me for the room as well. After 20 minutes with a growing queue of unhappy guests waiting to checkout behind me I paid the amount he requested which was not correct. If I had carried on trying to sort it out you would have had a lot more unhappy guests and I would have missed my ferry from St Malo. You need to have more than one person available for checkout in the morning so that they can resolve any queries.
