Disappointed that the coffee machine did not work and cleaning did not removed cutlery the day after I had used room service. Nice to be able to open a window, nice to be able to iron and dry my hair. In general here were the things needed in the room.

The staff were lovely, the room was clean & a good size. The toilet was blocked up & had to be cleared & the room felt very cold, but we asked for an extra blanket & got one without any problem. Car parking was really handy & secure, but expensive. We stayed for about 36 hours & it cost over £60.

Staff overall were friendly, informative and helpful. Our stay was comfortable, especially the bed. The lounge was different but quiet a nice surprise. We had 2 guests in the room for a night cap and the room was spacious enough. It was nice to have enough power points in the right spots to recharge all our devices - a suggestion place USB recharging sockets on either side of the bed, everyone needs to charge their phone and generally use it as an alarm. As we tend to have a lot of friends and family come to the UK to start a European tour, the Novotel is a good start. Only 2 issues when we tried to phone the hotel to book a room the person was too pushy and was not honest about availability. We live in Cambridge so we drove but your hotel parking costs and availability are appalling.

Check in long winded but was ok and corvs conference. Grubby room but nice bathroom. Queued way too long for dinner and one lady only at receipton of restaurant. Staff in kitchen shouting and swearing at each other & waiting staff. No one asked re drinks so had to go the bar ourselves. Tables quiet but loads of dirty plates etc everywhere. Poor choice of buffet food especially for kids!!! Only good member of staff was a young man on the Saturday helping with crowd control. Poor guy! Was great!

It had its ups and downs - starting off as soon as I arrive I go to my room and my room door was hanging off the hinges so I had to call the maintenance as soon as I arrive when I had a meeting to attend to which I was late for.

After arriving early before normal check in time, I was disappointed that even though I was an Accor silver member, my colleague who I was travelling with (not a member) was given a room before me and also received a room upgrade, whilst I waited for more than another hour.

I had a business meeting on Shortlands Road and so couldn't have found anywhere more convenient than the Novotel. When I booked I imagined that the hospitality would be basic and functional. Instead I found an excellent, comfortable modern hotel with fantastic facilities and wonderful attentive and helpful staff. The room had very nice extras like the Nesspresso machine and housekeeping was prompt and efficient. I would like to specific mention of Linda from the main reception who helped me navigate the hotel computer and printing services. Her tech and language skills enabled me to complete some last minute jobs that ultimately saved me around an hour of waiting time at the airport, so huge thanks !

« A good experience ruined by the check out »

We enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and the beds comfortable. However on check out I was disgusted to be given a bill for car parking for 102 pounds. I thought that parking was free for hotel guests and on arrival checked with the desk clerk about parking and was told "no problem, just give us your ticket on departure and we will validate it for you" Anywhere else I have been told that the parking ticket has been validated for free. If I had been told that parking was chargeable I would have moved my car and parked it elsewhere for free. I complained at the time and the desk staff did apparently raise this up to the manager but the answer was clear. "if you want to take the car from the car park you will have to pay" I consider myself to have been ripped off and will not return to this hotel.
