« Great place for a family stay (again!) »

We always choose staying here whenever in Lisbon. Travelling as a family (2 adults + 2 children , 5 and 2) this place really make us feel at home. The rooms are big enough, the breakfast has good options for everyone (there's some gluten-free items), the atmosphere is quite relaxed and the pool area, despite not a very large area, is big enough (the water is a bit cold though!). The restaurant (A Bicicleta) serves good food at reasonable prices - service is very good too. Finally, the kid's experience was excellent too - they really loved the kid's play room and the lovely staff working there. Excellent!

I mention this because there were so many children staying at the hotel. VERY concerned that the windows did not have childproofing on them. Too easy for children to get the window open or fall from a window that hadn't been closed correctly.

Well located hotel in Lisbon. Hotel itself was clean and comfortable, with helpful, friendly staff. We didn't try the lunch or dinner but the breakfast was very good. Easy to walk to the metro system, which gives good access to downtown Lisbon.

« To overcrowded hotel »

Normally Novotel could be considered as a good business hotel, good for leisure stays as well. But in this case my experience was completely different - this is a hotel dedicated for families with many children. This approach makes the hotel is overcrowded, waiting for an elevator can take up to 10 minutes, breakfast room is overcrowded practically all the time, it's not possible to reach the room service number during 1 hour or more. The staff itself is helpful and professional but unfortunately is not capable to manage the situation when the hotel is overcrowded. Moreover, the receptionists are working in very unfriendly environment - the parents are leaving the children just in front of the reception which makes the noise level there terrible.

We enjoyed our break but there were a few points to mention. a. In your lift it states swimming pool opens at 0800, it was therefore annoying to find it did not open until 0900. Air conditioning unit in room was noisy and impeded sleep.

We enjoyed our previous stay with your hotel and we participated in your survey, however this time we stayed with you, our comments in our previous survey it seems went un-noticed as you still supply cardboard cups in the rooms, albeit that the charge for the rooms we would have expected more. The prices for the mini bar are expensive when I can get the same size bottle of water you supply for .12e in Lidl. The Sagres for 2e cheaper, so I am sorry but I will look elsewhere on my next visit in January. The staff were very pleasent

The overall experience was good. Quality of food, cleanliness, staff helpfulness. The location was very convenient for our needs during our short stay in Lisbon. The breakfast choices provided were excellent and very good value for money. Could have been better: The car park had no usable spaces for a normal sized car even though the sign outside stated their were free spaces. The staff in the bar and restaurant were extremely busy and as a result were not always as attentive as hey could have been.

We had a very enjoyable stay, an ideal location to visit the zoo we were able to walk there. Great for families, room and bathroom were very clean and a good size. Staff were very helpful.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was the right for two adults and one child. The front desk staff was very helpful. We chose a hotel because we wanted the amenities that come with it: pool, bar, restaurant. All of these were very good. I would stay at a Novotel again with my family.

Great breakfast, excellent family room. Location is not central but witk metro is OK. Nearest metro stop, Praza de Espana, is around 5-7 minutes by walking to the hotel. Very good housekeeping and very attentive reception guys.

Extremely poor; Faulty lifts, overfull of noisy children. Broken window - catch, broken lamp, broken kettle, inability of staff to understand the need to change the telecommand rather than just say "It's working now" Staying in a limited mobility room was a sobering and unpleasant experience.

Hotel is ok, but some minor issues: Restaurant at nights was fully booked all the time, breakfast was too crowded - no plates, no bread, coffee machines not working, lots of noice from aircraft, worn rooms, no bottle opener in the room - but free drinks = no sense. I asked bottle opener, it was not delivered. Kids program was a plus.

The problem started with difficulty in booking 2 rooms from 18 to 20th August, 2019. It took 4 telephone calls and more than half an hour to get through to somebody who could make booking for us. We were quoted the room charges and we paid through a credit card on "non-cancellable" basis. Confirmation was sent to me by e-mail. One room was booked for me and my wife and the other for the family of my son. I travelled from the UK and my son from Algarve. Although it was agreed that my son would be allowed entry to his room as he was arriving before us. However, he was kept waiting for 1-1/2 hours and told that his booking was not paid. When I arrived, after queueing for 15 minutes, different versions were provided, but that they had charged for only one room though they had confirmation of booking 2 rooms. Nobody knew whose mistake it was at Novotel Hotel, but stating that it was a Sunday and it was difficult to find out. Then rooms were offered one level below what we had booked. We were told that, although it was 3 pm, were not ready and cleaning will take 40 minutes. We were quite annoyed. We had offered to pay in cash the payment for one room Novotel failed to collect from the credit card company, Finally when we insisted to see the duty Manager to allow us to go to rooms we had booked, the matter got resolved, with us getting upgraded, first on condition we pay extra. We agreed to do that, but then the extra charge was refunded. We have been a member of Accor Club but it is this kind of very poor service that has kept us from coming to an Accor Hotel. As a side comment the restaurant has quite a good choice of food but is poorly run, admittedly at a very busy period. Spoons, knives and forks are found missing. For forks I and other clients had at least 5 minutes' wait. Out of 4 coffee machines, 2 were out of order on Day 1, with queues building up.

The stay was good . Few things —I will be here for a month but had to book in slots of under 10 days . So I requested to be moved to a non handicap room as I don’t want to block this . Staff was not very helpful and I ended up staying here itself ( even now )
