We had a wonderful stay at the Novotel Gent Centrum! Its location in the heart of the city is magnificent and the staff were very welcoming. We were easily able to walk to go sightseeing and had a wide variety of restaurants and pubs to choose from. It was our wedding anniversary and the staff were kind enough to make it very special for us, which we greatly appreciate. We didn't use the parking nor ate breakfast there because it was a bit too pricey, but were able to find public parking within walking distance.

« Ideal Location for a short break »

Hotel is in a great location, room was clean, modern and provided us with fridge, tea and coffee facilities and a safe. Breakfast choices are very good and the staff were friendly. Having the outdoor patio/swimming pool was a lovely bonus too. To help the environment further the hotel could provide mugs and glasses in the room as opposed to plastic throwaways. Although primarily a business hotel, it would have been better for tourists if an information sheet and map were given at check in as there is no information booklet in the rooms. This could include where the tourist office is, the nearest supermarket, tram and bus stops etc. The hotel is so well situated for all these places. AS THERE IS BUILDING WORKS GOING ON ADJACENT TO THE HOTEL, THIS SHOULD BE MENTIONED ON THE WEBSITE GIVING ADVANCE WARNING TO GUESTS. WE WERE WOKEN AT 6.45 a.m.!! Reception were understanding and able to move us to a quiet room for the rest of our stay. We would recommend this hotel for short stays in Ghent

We stayed for 2 nights during our family reunion, the location, cleanliness, swimming pool, food and bars all great the staff very friendly apart form one young lady who worked the late reception shift (Saturday) who unfortunately was very unhelpful to the brink of being rude - on more than one occasion, thankfully the rest of the staff made up for her.

Lovely hotel but I was very disappointed that no-one ever mentioned the building work. Our room overlooked three buildings that were being renovated. There was no mention. And no apology. I had to keep the curtains closed.

We always stay here when we visit Ghent. It is very central. The rooms are a good size with a nice bathroom, and are always very clean. The breakfast/restaurant area is large with windows all along one side which gives lots of light. Very pleasant bar /food area. Drinks are a reasonable price as is the food. It has a terrace which in the more warm months is nice to sit and have a drink over looking the pool area. For hotels customers only please note! Staff are all very pleasant. Wold recommend.

Room was ok, the sofa bed for my daughter didn’t sit on the floor at one end and we had to wedge it down so it didn’t feel she was sleeping on her head. The breakfast had very few options for food intolerances and the restaurant was overpriced for the food and poor service. We also saw old and used crockery outside the lift on our floor for 3 consecutive days during our stay which wasn’t pleasant

« Parking an issue, great pool, football table and waffle machine »

Finding the hotel is an issue then it was 60 euro's for parking. We ended walking someway with cases then parking further out and getting a tram back in. I think advice with the parking prior would help with this hotel. The room was also very small for two adults and two children. I did mention this to the same guy who I dealt with about the parking but the attitude was it is what it is. The next day someone else on reception was much more helpful showing me another entrance to the hotel and offering me a guide book. The thing that made this hotel was the waffle machine at breakfast, the football table in the reception area and the pool.

I had high hopes for the hotel as the location is perfect and when I arrived the reception area and courtyard looked great. However my room faced straight onto a wall so it was very dark even with all the lights on. The room was very dated and the bed and pillows uncomfortable. I am staying in Gent on a weekly basis and would not return which is a shame

I stay in Gent quite often for a business/vacation combo, this time I wanted to try Novotel. To begin the location is great, however it was a bit unclear where the entry to the hotel was, turns out it’s the same as the restaurant. I stayed on the first floor, the room was nice, extra door to cancel out noise, modern bathroom, medium soft bed, nice pillows, plenty of towels, complementary shampoo and shower gel and some good tea too. However it was very, very dark, I’m a young person and still had to put the flash light on in the hallway to see anything. Breakfast was good with a fairly large selection but I went on the high traffic time around 9:30-10:00 so most was picked out. Service was generally good, cleaning staff very friendly and polite, reception as well yet didn’t live up to Ibis standard across the square. For example when I asked about the tram down to the train station the receptionist gave me a map and said it was one of the ones down by the street... otherwise very pleased with my stay at Novotel but would stay at Ibis if to choose from the Accor group.
