Well located clean hotel with very good breakfast but some disappointing features

My daughter and I stayed three nights over Easter 2024. Hotel is very well located for old town. Housekeeping staff were friendly, other staff members seemed indifferent to us and didn't seek to build a rapport. Room compact and modern. Great to have a fully opening window. Main criticism is that the twin beds were very uncomfortable, caused by a combination of their small size, and very high firmness. They felt cheap and unsupportive and affected our sleep quality negatively. Room cleaned to a high standard though cleaning times (roughly 2pm-3pm) were inconvenient; we'd have preferred mid-morning so the room was clean for the day. Room noisy from late night revellers from the outside especially on our first night; extra soundproofing could have improved this. It's a pity the small bottle of mineral water left in the fridge was never replenished. It would have been a nice touch (and consistent with the €200 per night charge) if there had been two bottles, one per guest, and/or if they were replaced when the room was cleaned. Breakfast generally was very good and offered for extensive hours in a pleasant environment. It was a shame the only coffee available came from a self-service machine, which is never as good as a properly brewed French coffee to my mind. Tried room service for dessert on arrival but, having said they did, they called back to say they didn't have any of the ice cream on the menu. They then offered chocolate lava cake, which was outstanding! The white A4 pieces of paper pinned up with drawing pins opposite the elevator on the second floor showing which rooms were in which direction and where to find the stairs made the place appear shabby and of a much lower standard than it really is. The single lift was, at peak times, overwhelmed by demand necessitating use of the stairs which may help explain the signage. Overall our stay was good and we enjoyed it, mostly as a result of the location, breakfast and room cleanliness.

The staff was very good in dealing with the mess that was this hotel’s common area. Dust everywhere, it can’t be contained! Breakfast in a makeshift breakfast room was poor. Little selection either bad coffee machine. Good location just outside of historic area.

Great location and comfortable room

Very nice location and comfortable room. Friendly service. The badly functioning door of the garage exit made it a frustrating departure from an otherwise great place.

Excellent stay
