I would just like to say that my family and I really enjoyed the stay.. Food was excellent ... both at the bar and during teh event... Just 2 comments - the bar did not seem prepared for teh event we were attending - they seemed to run out of bererage pretty quickly without quick re-supply and staff levels were low against what was needed.. In addition - teh heating in my room did not seem to work - when turned off teh room was warm enough but not comfortable.. (reported at checkout)

« Overall a pleasant stay but room for improvement. »

The price for the room was very reasonable and the room was clean and well presented. My food for the awards evening was perfectly adequate, however, the staff were somewhat disjointed when serving so with 7 people at the table the time from the 1st person receiving their food to the last was over 5 minutes. The bar in the main part of the hotel was also understaffed pre dinner, only one person serving with at least 25 guests drinking and waiting to be served. The staff were though polite and apologetic for delays in service. Overall a pleasant stay but room for improvement.

The room was very nice, and we enjoyed both our evening meal and breakfast. There are two issues: 1) Mobile Phone signal: We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage. The lack of mobile phone signal with Vodafone was an issue for us as we had a relative at the hospital. If we had known the signal was so poor we would not have booked this hotel. 2) Check-out: We paid our room fee on arrival. On departure we were asked to pay again by the receptionist. Before I even had time to say we had already paid, she answered the telephone and attended to the call. Once finished I needed to produce my receipt to prove payment, as I was not going to pay again. During this conversation she again answered the telephone. Once finished on the phone, she took my receipt into the back office to confirm payment. Once she returned she said all was sorted. She did not bother to ask if we had had a pleasant stay as we left. Not in the slightest way we're my wife and I impressed with this level of service. Thankfully the rest of our stay ( phone signal apart) was very nice.

Stayed 4 nights Room excellent Breakfast excellent, 1 dinner good and your staff are friendly efficient and helpful especially on breakfast Reception when they were there were fine, but the desk is often unmanned. On 2 occasions waited for over 5 minutes for someone to appear. Gave up once and the other time someone appeared and then went to get someone who could help with my request. There does not appear to be a vision panel from back office to observe the desk if so there was no one home at all.

Love,y reception staff. Room service needs to be better. Please make sure condiments are varied, not 10 salts and no vinegar or mayo..really!, random, no-one checks the tray. Trying to order room service is an issue as it’s so busy and limited staff, continuallly on engaged. The staff are fab, but, the company needs to raise the bar as it is starting to be high pr8ed for a lesser service. Menu needs to be more healthy please

« Good Overnight stay whilst travelling South. »

I had a very welcoming arrival at Novotel in Stevenage. The Room was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. My evening meal in the bar area was tasty, if a bit noisy (only disappointment that the restaurant area wasn't open). Breakfast was excellent and overall was a very pleasant stay.

Room was good and perfect for us with 2 dogs. First morning’s breakfast was good but second mornings was poor. No coffee for most of our breakfast at 8am. Food slow to be replenished. Staff were unhelpful when questioned about coffee machine fault but failed to switch it off or put a notice on it meaning more and more people complained about no coffee.

« Poor Customer Support »

My partner arrived early and were not able to get access to room even though she was poorly because my card details were not on system ( no explanation even though I book in exactly the same way online every time ). I called but was told I can’t make payment over the phone. Given that I have stayed in the hotel on at least 30 occasions it would have been easy for hotel to look at the details as opposed to just treat me like “ as per policy”. Disappointing to say the least!!
