I found the previous occupants towel in my room hanging on the back of the door. No one at reception wanted to know. I got told to just leave it in the shower when i checked out so it didnt get missed again. This is ridiculous I was not touching someone elses towel!!! I waited on several occassions for over 20 mins to get service at the bar. On trying to ask at reception for bar service i found that empty. There was someone in the office behind reception but he had headphones on and couldnt hear me. In the morning we had breakfast included, there were so many dirty tables ( 8am on a sunday) that i had to clear my own table as there were no staff to be seen. when a member of staff appeared i asked for the hot water canister to be filled so i could make tea. She took it away and never reappeared with it the emtire time i was at breakfast. totally disappointed with my stay and will not be coming back and will be leaving a reveiw to match. That pretty much somes up the awful stay i had at your hotel

« Appalling check-in experience, no Accor benefits offered without an argument, room good »

Arrival: extremely poor. One person at check-in desk. She answered the phone as I walked through the door yet didn't acknowledge me even with eye contact or a smile, didn't apologise after the phone call (which was some minutes with me standing in front of her at reception). No pleasantries at all during check-in, said "you'll have to come over here for the card machine" - not an appropriate way to talk to a guest (how about "would you mind...."?). I asked whether there'd be any chance of a later check-out - and asked for 2.30pm - as I needed to work. Was told no later than 1pm. Insisted any later would be chargeable. I politely asked whether my Accor loyalty card was on file and she said it was and she'd ask housekeeping and get back to me. She then came to my room and said housekeeping said yes to 2pm, but that there would be an additional charge of £20. I declined, saying I would not pay for a service that is published Accor benefit ("subject to availability" but availability had just been confirmed) and provided at every other Accor group hotel I've ever stayed in. She insisted £20 extra. No Accor welcome drink voucher was given, so I asked for one. Collected this from reception later and was told at this point that I could stay until 2pm free of charge. Room: no soap provided but otherwise good. Other areas: stairs and doors in the stairwell need to see some cleaning or re-painting. Contrasts massively with the smart reception and smart rooms. Restaurant: Food was good, except plate presented with an order receipt touching the food. I received good service from the ladies working in the bar and restaurant, but others around me were complaining. Check-out: again one person on reception, large queue. Better customer skills from the check-out lady working at 1.30pm Saturday than on arrival. Overall: some staff need serious service training. The hotel needs to consider its Accor branding and when it says "Participating Le Club Accor Hotels: take advantage of the program in this hotel" to actually provide said benefits without an argument. I plan to cancel my booking in September and avoid hotels owned by The Fairview Collection in future.

Staff were really helpfull and polite . Carpets in rooms need attention as very lumpy and 1 year old grandson kept tripping on them . Had no draught beer all weekend and bottles were warm .

Overall ok Thought receptionist was a bit officious asking me if I’d logged in car before I’d even reached the desk or spoken. Sat outside with a drink as a hot day but tables were dirty with empty glasses and cigarette ends.

Driving into the car park (7.50pm Monday 8th July 2019) I noticed one of the Blue Badge bays was covered in broken glass. I reported it to the receptionist suggesting that someone would be getting a flat tyre if it was left there - especially if they arrived after dark and did not see it - her response was a shrug of the shoulders and "Oh". She seemed totally unconcerned. I checked in, was given one key (for two guests) and no complimentary drinks vouchers. When I politely asked for another key & the vouchers she said "Well, you didn't ask for two keys or your vouchers" Really? I should have to ask when the booking clearly states two guests? I was not advised of breakfast times, where anything was or even directed to the lift/elevator and had to ask - her casual response was (pointing finger) "just down there". She made very little eye contact and there was no smile, no greeting, no pleasantries. The carpets throughout the corridors are somewhat stained as was the one in my room. My room and bathroom were very clean (except for the stained carpet), comfortable bed (but with only two pillows) plenty of towels, complimentary toiletries, there was a kettle with tea and coffee provided (the milk in the mini-fridge), there was a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, the a/c worked and the window opened properly however, with the lights on, the illuminated bed headboard made a very strange ticking/clicking noise - I left it on thinking it was just warming up the plastic but, no, it clicked and ticked for almost an hour at which point I turned it off - a little worried about electricity shortages near my head!! The bar area is soul-less with only Guinness on draft - all other beers are bottled and if you want a "pint" it's two bottles poured in a pint glass with a charge of over £7 - shocking. Despite there being at least eight people in the bar the shutters came down (literally) without warning at 10.20pm - very odd in a hotel. Bar service seemed a little slow but I suspect the bar staff (I saw four different ones) are also the restaurant staff so they cannot be in two places at once - speaking of bar staff, they were very pleasant and friendly toward me with smiles all round - kudos to them. I checked out at 06.45, a pleasant male receptionist handed me my invoice and I told him about the glass in the car park - he seemed a little more concerned saying "well someone could get it in their tyres couldn't they?" Ermmm, yes, that's why I am mentioning it, I thought. On going out to my car the broken glass was still there - kinda sums up the whole stay, lacklustre, tired, needs more care and maintenance and some serious staff training for that female receptionist. The location is excellent for access to the A1 going both north and south, it's very near to Knebworth Park and is 17 miles from Luton airport. I probably won't stay here again and unfortunately cannot recommend the Novotel Stevenage - it doesn't match with the Accor Group Hotels reputation and was a disappointment - I expected better.

The first impression unfortunately was with the receptionist on duty (named Carol) on my arrival was just too cold in her rapport with a new customer like me, she was very poor in her interpersonal relationship and acting as if she was being forced to work and no information was provided about the hotel facilities (eg restaurant etc) on arrival. Also, at my check out, same receptionist was also very indifferent to even ask how was my stay or to say simple safe journey. Moreover, they were understaffed and a bit clumsy in their organisation. The room was fairly clean but the bedside phone was DEAD! Overall, the quality of the hotel is overpriced and they need to be more proactive in their service delivery!

No problems whatsoever with hotel or staff, both exemplary. However, there is no access by foot to the hotel as it involves crossing the A1, for people staying for business in the science park this means trying to cross the A1 in rush hour which is suicidal.

Room was clean and efficiently furnished, if a little spartan; nice to be able to actually open a window for fresh air; aircon noise woke me up when sleeping. Staff on reception need to be a little warmer in their welcome, but restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful.

« Error after Error »

On checking in I was allocated my room. Got to my room and the key wouldn't work (keeping it away from any mobile phones). Went back to reception for the receptionist to reprogramme my key. Got to my room and and the key worked to find that the room allocated was already occupied. I went back to reception to be then given another room. Next morning on checking out I couldn't due to the computers not importing the bar bill from the night before.

« The room we were provided with was very comfortable. »

The staff were very accommodating, especially with breakfast when asked for poached eggs. The room was comfortable, tidy and spacious. The room as very private with not a lot of noise coming from outside the room. The showers were a very good experience with plenty of towels provided. Tea and coffee in the room was good although more initially provided would have been better.
