Upon arrival (was just after 2pm), the check in desk was quite busy, everyone in front of us seemed to check in with no issues. We got to the desk and asked to check in, I was curtly told the room wasn't ready and we would have to wait as we had not requested early check in and check in wasn't until 3pm, so come back later. We said as it was now 230pm we would wait in reception. We then saw around 4 more lots of people check in. I checked my book in confirmation and saw that check in was from 2pm so I went to ask the same receptionist why there was a delay and if the room was ready. She said again check in is between 2 and 3pm. She then said the room is ready but I need 100 euros security deposit. I asked why as the room had been pre paid in full. She said (rudely) for any extras. I explained we would not be using the restaurant or bar and if we did we would pay as we go. She then said "well you haven't paid for any of the city taxes so we need the deposit". I asked how much the taxes were and we would pay up front. I then checked by booking confirmation again and all taxes had already been paid for as part of our booking. We then asked why we weren't able to check in at 2 - we were told the hotel was full the night before. The lady was young with a tattooed arm. She was rude and unprofessional. Really not a great start to our trip, which was for our birthdays. She was unnecessarily abrupt and seemed to take a dislike to us for no reason. If I hadn't gone to ask if the room was ready, I don't think she would have come back over to tell us. All other staff we came into contact with though were helpful and pleasant.

Very well situated within easy reach of the main centre, bus/trams available a fee mins. from the hotel. Rooms clean, spacious and comfortable. The only criticism I would have is the breakfast, very little choice, some items not replenished and the worse croissants in France.

Your staff was very friendly and capable but I experienced problems with key cards (x2), maid service (x2) and wifi (x1). Also the rug deodorant is quite nasty and had me sleep with the window fully open each night. Good beds, shower but overall a 7/10.

Booked for two rooms for me and for a co-worker. Have been given to us disabled people rooms. The bathroom was awfull. The bed was too low even for a disabled person, also the mattress was pretty soft and uncomfortable. The toilet was clogged... since we arrived late, i didnt complained that night, and in the morning went to the front desk and complained, requesting a new and different room.. a more comfortable room was given, however te staff is very arrogant. The parking is not on the building and the given instructions are not clear. I would avoid this unit.

On ny first night I was given the handicap room thus I requested if we could be moved. They kindly informed me that they were fully booked so it wouldn’t be possible to move us that day but they could after. The next day we arrive to our room and our key did not work. When we go to reception we find out they had moved “all” our stuff to the new room without our consent. This is a huge invasion to our privacy - they literally moved everything that was not packed as we did not know we would change of rooms. Lastly, and most importantly, they left my most important things (iphone, passport, watch) inside the safe deposit with strangers staying in the room. We had to wait until 11 am the next day to recover these things. After we complaint they offered free breakfast however this is not sufficient. What would the hotel do if my passport/iphone was lost or damaged?

Disappointing. Stayed at the ACCoOR M Gallery hotel in Bordeaux on last visit, an excellent hotel. The Novotel is old and run down. As a L'Accor member was given a deluxe room?? Some of the faults. Air Conditioning did not work and was told by many guest this was problem throughout the hotel. Room was very small, Desk chair broken. Was meant to have adjustable hight but had collapsed and could not be raised. Sink tap was wobbling, not attached correctly. Ridiculously narrow and small bath. Impossible for a man and uncomfortable for my wife. No toiletries, no Minibar, No crockery just paper cups, very cheap rough cotton bed sheets and pillow cases. No help available for luggage. Staff pleasant enough. I could ago on but this hotel should be avoided and lets down the L'Accor brand

Whilst in a very convenient central location, this hotel when compared to other Novotel premises is outdated and not up to a 4 star standard. The lobby is small with no adequate seating for guests. The bar area and associated seating is cramped and uninspiring.

Novotel Bordeaux is just perfect! We really enjoyed staying there! The room had a nice design, it was sparkling clean, amenities were great and location was just perfect. Also, the reception staff was very nice and polite! The helped us with all the info we needed! I'll definitely choose Novotel next time in Bordeaux!

My wife and I had an executive room which was very comfortable. It would be useful to have a mirror installed nearby a plug (say next to the TV) for women to make up/use hair straighteners. We especially enjoyed breakfast in the room which was carefully prepared by the restaurant team. The central location of the hotel and closeness to the tram network was very convenient

The more we learned about the hotel and its services, the more we liked our choice. The staff were friendly and helpful; thermometer was quiet; the bed was comfortable; the breakfast buffet was sumptuous; and the location was fine for our purposes. We could and did walk right into and through the Old City and to the Gare St. Jean and Capuchins Market. The airport-to-Gare express bus stops a block away, as does the lift-rail. Our only complaint is that the express check-out has not yet provided us the promised folio by e-mail, three days since our departure.
