« Worst hotel experience in many years as a frequent business traveler »

Thank god I only had to stay one night! I arrived late monday 13-05-2019 for your reference. This is what I experienced: Everything but the hotel room was a big mess due to construction work. This could in itself be okay, had it not been due to the fact of this large group of Indian people occupying the remaining shared dining area. When we arrived at 10pm everything smelled like curry spieces (also in my room) and we almost could not go thru the crowd to the elevators due to the party going on. Then we also were told by the receptionist to avoid eating breakfast between 6.45 and 7.30 because then the large crowd were supposed to eat breakfast. So even though we pay top money/full price to stay here on a construction site, we cannot even eat breakfast when in fits our schedule?? Next horror to appear: My room (214) was nice and clean but from the second I open the door i felt something was wrong. It was extremely warm inside despite the outside was 10-12 degrees outsite. I had nothing to measure the temperature in the room, but it felt like a warm summer night in spain without aircon, so I guess it was around 25-26 degrees. Why was it so hot? The radiator was running full speed and most likely had done so for a long time. It could not be turned down. It was set to zero, but still you could hear the warm water run thru it full speed regardless of the thermostat setting. I tried to open the window to balance the heat from the radiator, but there was just so much noice from the outside from the indian party and the neighbour logistic company that it made it impossible to fall asleep also. So, either extensive heat or noice from the outside and i just wanted to sleep so bad. After trying both options for 15 min i got so annoyed that I went to receptionist, explained my situation and hoped to get another room. This was no option as the hotel was fully booked and she could not do anything about the broken radiator either. I ended up opening the window and try to sleep thru the noices from outside. Next day I had a very mediocure early breakfast and went off happy to know it was only one night. I booked this hotel thru my companies travel service, but I will request to take this hotel off our "approved list" due the very poor value for money ratio.

The Parking fee introduced is not a good thing. In the meantime IBIS becomes non competitive to more star hotels in Olten. For me even being a loyal IBIS Customer - I will have to experience new hotels. Best

Disappointed ...after numerous stops at this location and having driven from uk found no restaurant facilities at this location.....after looking forward to meal drink and rest this was I found unacceptable.....!!!... « Overnight stop on way to somewhere else. Comfortable night but expensive »

Hotel room was fine, bed comfortable and clean en-suite facilities. The restaurant evening meal was OK as was the breakfast. The hotel gave an overall impression of being very functional and slightly lacking in any atmosphere which I am guessing comes from it being used primarily by business customers. Overall for the level of facility provided including meals, it was however quite expensive even allowing for the fact its in Switzerland. One small thing that annoyed in particular was that with no other option due to its location, I was very surprised to be asked to pay for car parking

Rooms old and "tired". Paint peeling off walls and doors, Bathroom +/- clean. Heating and cooling system old and in need of modernisation. Not enoiugh plugs (1) to cater for modern buisnessman with laptop, phone, tablet to charge.

« Selling and experience doesn't match »

1. Accore member rate in Internet didn't match to offering in house. There was a problem with my credit card which made me not able to book online which would have cost me 115 euros incl. breakfast. At the premesis I was told that this rate is only available for silver an gold members not for classic do I had to pay 140CHF which is roughly 130 Euros. This is not acceptable even with showing them online the prices they didn't accept it. So next time I guess I need to go through booking.com as they offered even cheaper prices as 140 CHF 2. Breakfast. They had the official marketing brochures regarding the breakfast. Where it says. our customers say 1st thing is scrambled egg for breakfast etc... When I asked about it I was told scrambled egg is not possible only the customer self boiled eggs. Asking why she is advertising scrambled eggs the person said: that's the brand but not with us. 3. No TV connected to the room. TV and antenna cable was no collected soTV was switched before. Asking about it I was told I am wrong but somebody would come to check. Which they did. Nevertheless I was able to fix it myself.
