We are extremely pleased with our stay at Sofitel. From the first minute we were spoiled with some welcoming drinks, excellent service (Kellyna) and looked after very well. Even though our first meal was dinner, staff allowed us to have some coffee and little breakfast at the buffet as we were tired after long flight and we travelling straight after work. The very cute man came to myself and put lovely flower into my hair - it was such a nice thing and the flower was beautiful! The location of the hotel is lovely, room was nicely prepared for our arrival. The variety of food was perfect we could try different cuisines and it was extremely tasty and fresh every day. My husband made up some friends at the kitchen so we had a chat with some chefs and they explained us the quality of the product they're using and it can be definitely recognised in the dishes. Out of 10 we will rate Sofitel 15! SPA facility was beautiful and peaceful we didn't use any additional services but enjoyed pool and sauna. Room had an ocean view - very pleased with that as we didn't request that it was a lovely surprise. The only thing to mention was that we noticed drop of the quality of housekeeping service over a stay even when we left a tip. Nothing major, no complains however it might be something to review. We had lovely time at the beach bar and we were served most of the time by Ludovic - very nice and funny waiter! Prices of the wines could be slightly more affordable as it is even more expensive than in London! We have done some beach activities which were nice as well and it was great that we could go snorkelling with hotel's team free of charge. It was beautiful time and we will be definitely back to Sofitel hotel.

« Great Vacation in a Great place »

The experience was very good. The suite was great, meal very good. We appreciated the kids club as well, but it woul be great if the kids had some activities at the beach and be able to go in the big swimming pool and in the sea. We came in the past and at this time the Sofitel was offering wakeboard activities, it is sad that it is not available anymore. The staff is really great and the view from our room was perfect.

A welcoming reception and services in a beautiful hotel, the hotel architecture style, room design with the space and sliding doors to open up the bathroom as part of the bedroom and open dining room were appreciated. Plenty of sunloungers/day beds to choose from around the pool or along the beach. There is a flag service at the beach but when it wasn't busy (August is their winter month and cloudy some days), it wasn't always noticed straight away and dishes collected after a snack. The gym is opened up too, excellent equipment &service from Francois, who is discreet and attentive to everyone in the gym, e.g a small nudge to correct your posture makes all the difference. This is the first hotel we've come across when signing for the bill to add to the room charge, it does not have a Tip amount you can add to, but when leaving we put rupees in the gratuitous box at reception, as well as giving to individuals on the last day. Our preference generally is we like to add an amount at the end of the stay for service charge so all staff receive extra. Overall a tranquil, relaxing and unhurried stay.

The grounds were immaculate and absolutely stunning. Staff were polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious with a rustic feel to them. The beach was clean and a gorgeous turquoise blue sea. The complimentary mid morning juice and mid afternoon fruit snacks were a lovely touch. The electrics in the room need updating, we had issues with several sockets. A free shuttle bus into town or tamarind would have been great. As a family of four we might have stayed in the report to eat if the buffest was cheaper, it would have cost us a total of 3000rupee to eat there but is cost us less than 2400 a return taxi + eat out in flic en flac. The boat house free activities should be better advertised, the hotel provides a wonderful service of free activities here.

Generally the Hotel (one Accor brand) service is of good quality (not excellent as it should be) and it is located on the beach front. Everything is well located and not crowded (my visit happened during the low season). The reception desk service is average. Not a very good experience, because it's slow on the registration process, not very gentle, they are also not able to solve easy and common problems like paying a taxi and including the bill in the room account (I have to pay an additional 6% for the service that is free in most of the best hotels in the world) and do not include one of my restaurant expenses made after the end of my reservation in my Accor card (supposedly due to the Accor policies). This is an old Hotel (opened in 1991) that since then didn't receive a deep renovation. Therefore it has an old fashion style that needs a deep update in terms of team preparation, rooms (gorgeous space but equipped with old furniture that naturally presents deep signs of use). The bath room utilities need a renovation as well and the room needs soundproofing (if someone from an nearby room uses the shower or talks during the night, you can't sleep). From time to time the room do not smells well. - the room service is irregular and the cleanness is bellow the excellent - just check the dirtiness in the furniture, room knobs et al and you will see; - Beautiful gardens but with the need of an updating; - The free canoe service is a plus (normally it is a paid service); - The beach service is very irregular and not fast; - The beach restaurant is very beautiful but with a very, very slow service. Be prepared to wait and wait. Food is good and well served; - The breakfast and the dinner (half board service) is only good. No sea food in general or meat - just chicken, lamb and fish (very well prepared/tasted). - The main restaurant is too dark (not well illuminated over the tables - I prefer to see what I eat than having a "romantic atmosphere", but it is just my personal opinion); - The team is supportive/gentle, a mixture of experienced and less experienced people, but needs complementary formation. The service at restaurant/beach/and rooms is very inconstant/irregular and does not follow "the book". Very depend of the person in charge; - It is understandable considering the development level of the country (by the way, one of the best in Africa) that the staff is used to receive tips. However, I do not like to be pressured to give tips, specially considering the supposed level of the Hotel; - The internet access is free and available everywhere in the Hotel, including the beach but it's slow. - Good Hotel for families with kids but needs to invest in the safety and supervision - too much unprotected stairs and balconies. The only swimming pool does not have supervision, however they do have a smaller one in the Kids Club that seems to be supervised(i didn't went there, only saw from afar); - Since I didn't use the SPA and the fitness center I am not able to comment on those; To conclude, an Hotel seated in the past, with for sure a number of fans but not with the feet in the present and in the future of the tourist needs (at least for the target of this Hotel ). Just one word for the Accor reward program - POOR.

The hotel is quite basic, nevertheless having stayed there in 2018 we found that this year the room we were allocated was better. However, we could not get a full sea view as the children’s play centre is located right in front of the room. On Thursday night the 22nd of August there were some loud music for 2 hours followed by crackers at midnight for one hour followed by very loud music till the morning. No explanation or apology was forthcoming from the hotel. There were lizards in the room at night and although I am aware that they are harmless, in fact useful as insect eaters, it would be better to try and keep them out of the rooms. The food could have been a bit healthier, food advertised as grilled was in fact fried.! Other hotels in Mauritius are more aware that healthy food is an interest that occupies the world. Housekeeping were occasionally forgetful but were responsive to rectify the situation.

« A lovely place, in a beautiful setting, but with a couple of disappointments. »

The hotel and it’s scenery are truly stunning and we really enjoyed our two week stay. There were a couple of things however that did impact the experience. The staff overall don’t seem very friendly or welcoming, with only a couple of exceptions seeming pleased to see us. In room amenities were only sometimes replenished. The mini bar was never replenished. We were very disappointed at how marked up the wine was. We don’t have a problem paying for nice wine, but the quality did not at all reflect the investment in this case. In 2019 we were also shocked to see how many plastic straws are being used, and that we were encouraged to continually purchase plastic bottles of water. We hope this issue in particular is high on the agenda for review in improving the hotel’s contribution to clearing up our planet’s oceans. Since Mauritius has clean tap water suitable for drinking, providing this at no cost from the bars would immediately reduce plastic consumption.

More choice of food would be good. Your staff should be trained, there was no one at the reception to receive us, we had to carry our suitcase all the way up!! Certainly not a good start. The manner the staff view Mauritian and tourist are so widely apparent!! If you're a Mauritian, you're not given the same service as a foreigner, why?!
