« Welcoming, luxurious and delightful as always »

Another great stay at this Sofitel resort. As I travel here at least twice a year, it is always wonderful to be greeted so warmly by the staff who remain so friendly and accommodating, remembering me from prior visits. Since I am always here travelling on business, the poor wifi connection was extremely frustrating and appears to be getting worse each time I return. There is also a limited choice of food (unless you have the buffet) since I don’t utilise the HB option due to work commitments on some evenings. The beach is beautiful and there are plenty of sun loungers available so it is rare not to locate one wherever you wish to lay. The free watersports activities are great, and I would sefinitelt recommend doing some snorkling if you have the time. Overall, I enjoy every stay at this Sofitel, but if the internet could be improved and the Beach Bar food options remain open into the evening - that would really make this hotel a 10 (at least for me) in all categories. Thank you Sofitel Flic-en-Flac for being a home away from home once again.

Very nice time BUT the resort needs some upgrading. It. Was more a 4 star experience rather than a 5 star. The furniture in the room was very much used for sure. Needs an upgrade for the price.

« Pleasant, a little rough around the edges »

Lovely staff. Lots and lots of flies everywhere, as the hotel is all open this meant there were lots in the restaurant and around the food. Very slow service. Rooms were nice but you can tell they are old and are in need of a update. Aircon was not that powerful.

overall really good. Sometimes the food in the main restaurant was a little repetitive but overall really good, Friday night especially. It was a shame the bars shut so early at 11, at least one could be open late. It was annoying that the shower products weren't replaced when they were empty every day i had to call the housekeeping to ask for more conditioner twice. Also the mini bar wasn't restocked every day either! I was in room 148 and there was a damp smell too. it sounds like i didn't enjoy my stay, i did, i am just taking into account that the hotel is 25 years old and could do with some love.

« Great hotel, Amazing staff »

Stayed with my family. We had two connecting rooms 151/152. It was an important reunion for us as we didn't see each other for a year because we live in different places. Overall experience was very good! Little details that still need to be improved, especially in F&B regarding quality of service and food itself. A lot of staff made our stay more than unique, especially Avinash Poonyth. This gentleman deserves a great recognition from the management team. Feeling taking care of as a guest is great, but feeling taking care of as as family member is something that creates one of the best experience in my life. My family and I had a wonderful time.

The positives: friendly staff, beautiful location and outlook. The negatives: The Jacuzzi in our room was broken and took 2 days to fix. We were charged a 'no show' first day when it was impossible to get into the country due to the Cyclone and all flights had been cancelled. As well as this, checkout staff tried to charge us a second time for the room on checkout when we had paid fully in advance, and claimed no record of payment. We had to go onto the internet and show them the online receipt recieved a week earlier, and even then the staff member insisted on taking my phone away to show to his manager - this was very stressful for us and should never have happened. This resort needs to be better organised so that none of these stressful and upsetting things happen.

We travelled to Mauritius to embark a crystal cruise and thought, let's stay in a lovely resort first. Hence booked for 4 days on a pay in advance basis at L'Imperial. Great idea until Cyclone Bugliatti hit. All flights to Mauritius were cancelled, and we arrived on the first flight into the country. Notwithstanding the circumstances, there was no refund of our pre-paid first day. This was really not good enough, as contracts are generally subject to "acts of God" or factors which render the terms impossible to perform. So, charging us a 'no show' fee, when all flights to the country have been cancelled, was not really in either the spirit or the terms of our contract, and not good enough. However we had paid in advance so there was nothing we could do. On a positive note, the view from our Opera suite was wonderful, and the attitude of individual staff members was very friendly and helpful. You get free use of all sorts of holiday gear, and we had wonderful forays into the ocean on the paddle boats and sailing boats provided. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi in our room was not working, and took two days to fix, resulting in the fact we had one days use of it out of a four day booking. The staff were very sympathetic and seemed to be trying hard to fix it, and it was eventually fixed. When we went to check out, the front counter staff tried to charge us a second time for our accomodation, and kept insisting we had not paid. I had to go onto the internet on my phone, and showed them the online receipt indicating full payment several days prior to our arrival. After a lot of 'can I show this to my manager', sanity prevailed and we were not charged a second time. We were then told check in staff had somehow failed to record out pre-payment. This is also not really good enough at a Sofitel in particular, where usually everything runs perfectly. The food was nice without being exceptional, the wine was extremely expensice (thats Mauritius taxes rather than the hotel's doing). Overall, a beautiful resort in an idyllic location, marred by elements of disorganisation.

« Pleasant stay with simple tweaks could be amazing »

Fantastic hotel location, with room and facilities top class. A few service improvements could make the overall experience from being good to great. Room service and staff associated to rooms are excellent. Feedback areas Restaurant/buffet On a regular occurrence, when coming down to the breakfast or dinner we had to wait for a staff member to notice we were waiting before being acknowledged and we then had to request a table. This could sometimes be 5-10mins and makesmyou fee ignored. It needs someone whose single focus it is to welcome and allocate people to tables. Tables being cleared or prepped seem to be lacking direction. All staff seemed to jump around vs being given direction by a leader. 2nd frustration was we had a small baby and finding a clean baby seat seemed to take a long time. Often a further 5-10mins. So from arrivIng we often waited 10-15mins to sit down. I want to repeat this was a regular occurrence. Breakfast food We are breakfast around 10am and the fresh fruit with always running on next to empty. With the heat, I’d have felt better if the yogurt was more protected to the warm weather as a dairy product vs on top of ice. For example you cover up the cheese but not the yogurts. Would have been nice to have a wider selection of fruit juice. Coffee seemed to take a long time to come to table. I’d rather see a machine and the staff focus on cleaning tables and welcoming people. Gym Could do with heavier free weights or a barbell. Water sports Could do with paddle boarding option

« Didn't feel like 5 star resort »

Our feedback: Rooms: The room we booked was large, however very tired and the overall maintenance and management of it wasn't up to a 5 star standard. Examples of poor maintenance: - the sheets we were provided with were stained - the bed wasn't properly made - the toilet roll holder was broken - the sliding door to the bathroom didn't close & open properly - The two daily water bottles weren't placed in the room and we had to follow-up with reception. - One day, we returned to find that some flowers were left for us. Whilst this was a nice touch, it was difficult to appreciate as we could see large strands of hair in it. - a used coffee cup wasn't replaced and we had to follow-up with house keeping. We brought this to the attention of the front desk and they just wrote it down on a piece of paper. There was no apology or acknowledgement that these things are unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. Restaurant: the service received at the restaurants were awful, in particular by someone named Meenakshi. Examples include: - breakfast service was generally chaotic without food and drinks (water) being replenished regularly; there was no one to show you to the table. We had to hunt down a waiter to try and get a table. In every 5 star hotel, in our experience there is someone greeting guests, noting down room numbers and showing guests to their tables. - one morning, we had to wait about 25 minutes for some milk after having asked 3 different waiters - we noticed that other tables' breakfast dishes were cleared regularly, thereby attracting a lot of birds. - one lunch, it took wait staff 10 min to bring a menu and thereafter another 20 min for 2 drinks. We got so fed up, that we just took our drinks to the beach. - We constantly felt like we had to chase staff for simple things - plates, cutlery, water, which isn't acceptable for a 5 star hotel. Regardless of whether it's peak season, these gaps in service are unacceptable. Spa: the spa was well run and the massages were very good. This was a positive thing about the hotel. WIFI: was very slow and didn't work well most of the time. Overall, we felt that the property is in need of a refurb and the staff (especially in the restaurant) require training on how to engage and deal with customers. They need to appreciate that guests have paid a considerable sum of money to stay at these properties, therefore a certain level of service is expected.

« A Place to relax with great food »

Good location, nice rooms and good food make this a great ressort to relax from the busy day to day businesses. The ocean is nice to take a bath in, rubber slippers would be advisable but don't deminish the fun. The water sports department has almost everything one needs. The food we enjoyed with a great Xmas menue and a fantastic New Year Eve dinnerhas to be especially emphasized. The service in the main restaurants is friendly. The team at the strand restaurant would be well advised to stick to processes applied inside the main building as they work there. Food quality and presentation however do not suffer from this. Overall a great year end holiday.

Great front desk and impressive arrival but the rooms need some maintenance and pest control (we stayed in 2 rooms both of which were infested (really!) with ants and lizards). Breakfasts are good but an early ‘continental’ breakfast will leave you disappointed (and hungry) with just a selection of breads (pecked by the birds!) and coffee! Finally, a fantastic beach front is let down by some old hammocks and tired sun beds that really do need replacing. Otherwise, friendly attentive staff working a tired hotel but a great location with some excellent water sports including snorkeling.

« Excelent location, good food, nice service »

Two adults plus two children, we have two double rooms (would appreciate connecting rooms, but you don't have that option). Enough space in the room, to feel relaxed, sea view is what we like the most. Sea was kind of full of some of grass, so not suitable for swimming all the time. Beautiful garden, with a lot of space, you don't feel crowd though it is. Very high price for drinks. The food is excellent, we liked very much that you are changing it at least a bit every night.

« Beautiful, relaxing Mauritius resort »

We had a lovely stay with our family. The resort was beautiful with excellent facilities and staff. The staff were alll exceptionally helpful and friendly. We stayed in an ocean view suite- we had direct access to the beach and the space was fantastic. It was perfect for a stay with our two kids.
