« Relaxing holiday in an amazing enviroment »

Amazing stay at the hotel. We enjoyed it very much. Only one suggestion. Upon arrival a structred overview of all the possible activites (free & non free) should be given to the guests. We found it bothering that we didnt know where & when we can do different activities (e.g. waterskiing, table-tennis, spa etc.). We always had to go to the reception and ask.

Very Bad Experience. We arrived at 1015 check in we had to wait, the room was not available. Therefore i proposed the girl at the counter to let us have breakfast instead of waiting at the reception for 30 minutes. Then we were allowed to take the breakfast instead of waiting for the room to be ready. If the day package is from 10 am to 5pm, we expect that we are able to check in as soon as possible so that we are able to enjoy our stay. Previously also we did come to the hotel(2 times before, Saturday 16th September was our third stay) and the check in was slow, but atleast this time at least the receptionist informed us that the room will take some time to get ready and that was polite on her behalf, as we could take the breakfast instead of sitting and losing our time. Second big issue was when we were having lunch, it was around 3pm we asked the guy at the restaurant if we can sit on the beach, he said ok you can sit there. Then another guy came to take our order, when he came to know that we were day package, he said that he won't be able to serve lunch on the beach as we are on a day package, but on the other hand there were tourist who were being served on the beach, so why this discrimination? We did pay big money for the stay. Then we listened to the guy we didnt sit on the beach we moved in where i think it was the manager who told us to sit in front , as they were arranging the tables inside for the evening. We were sitting in front and there was no umbrella, we had to sit in the sun, upon request they provide an umbrella to us. After 45 minutes our first order arrives, and there were lots of flies we were not able to eat, so we ask a lady there (who was very polite) to let us sit on the beach, then she moved our plate on the beach. But the guy who took our order was really irreponsible as he didnt come to serve us, we had to ask the waiter each time time to come to serve us. We had to wait for more than 1hour15minutes to receive our other menu, and when the food arrived, it was cold and we were not able to eat it, and it ruined our mood and our stay. We paid Rs5700 to have such a bad experience and to be treated like that. So basically the service is not good and is very slow at the restaurant and we are really disappointed.

It has been a great staying. Awesome guests relationship department, always willing to support and making you feel like in a family. We went with a kid who needs gluten free meal and the support from the chefs and waiters was fantastic. For us has been incredible the close individual attention considering this type of big resorts. The only downside is the sports material and entertainment in the beach, e.g. paddle boat, paddle surf, masks for snorkling, canoe, etc... Sofitel relies on Hilton's material and we are very limited in the use of them since we don´t have same access level as guests in Hilton.

« Some excellent and some not so good aspects of my experience »

I was in town for business meetings and found the venue attractive and pleasant. When we arrived late on Saturday night we were unable to get into our room and were instead rushed to have dinner at the buffet. For some odd reason, the manager at the buffet asked me for my credit card and charged me and my colleagues for dinner. The other unpleasant experience was dealing with the manager of the fitness facility. He was rude and abrupt - so much so that I intentionally when to the fitness facilities at off hours to avoid interacting with him. Finally, it is unsanitary to have the birds flying around the buffet and at breakfast each morning. Other than these issues, I enjoyed my experience however I will stay and Sugar Beach for my next visit to Mauritius.

Regarding the charge for dinner, we did miss the mark by mistaking you for another external Guest who came for dinner and had to settle after the meal. As for the Fitness Centre, we understand that you refused to sign the disclaimer and that the TV inconvenienced you during your work-out sessions. « A bad start! »

It took me 45 minutes to be checked in on arrival. I was asked to provide my credit card to cover incidentals, reasonably standard, no problem. Then i was asked to go over to the counter to pay in full for my stay upfront. I travel a lot and found this request offensive, it just does not happen elsewhere. Even more insulting for a regular Accord member! It then took 10 minutes for the idiot behind the counter to process the payment while taking 3 calls on his phone! After a day travelling I just wanted to get into my room to freshen up. The rest of the week was pretty average. The entertainment at the cocktail bar was sub standard as was the service. It took me 15 minutes before I received any service. The waitrons keeping very busy talking to each other while completely ignoring us. I expected much more from Sofitel.

« Good Hotel for Family, Food nice, Taxi & Room need Enhancement »

The room is clean, however the decoration look old and there were some ants on the tables and closet. Bed was not comfortable and was not stable. Food buffet was excellent for both breakfast and dinner with many options and daily changing the options. Taxi service of hotel was expensive and could got better price from third party. .

Superb pool and beach. Rooms comfortable but small problems such as tv remote changed twice still faulty, no freshmilk for coffee in room, some lights in room not working, slow service from bar at pool, no key entrance to room from sea facing side, detract from experience and we have had better from 3 or 4 star hotels and much lower price.

Although our experience has been globally positive, few remarks are important. We have my been guided through a resort visit at our arrival, hence we discovered some services only the last days. Breakfast starts at 6.30 AM but it is never ready at that time in reality. You understand that when you plan activities in the morning an early breakfast is useful, but we did not have the chance to fully appreciate it. We had an issue with our bathtube and it has been resolved within a day, positive. The bar service on the beach could be improved to avoid customers to walk to the restaurant each time they wanna order something. Last comment, I was quite surprised I did not have the chance to meet the GM when I asked.
