My wife and I are regular visitors to Montreal and we really enjoy staying at the Novotel Montreal Centre. We have tried other types of accommodations but this hotel suits us best. Hard to beat the location and the rooms are perfect for us.

There were no fitted sheets on the bed, nor flat sheet, and the mattress protector had a giant hole in it. The furniture was broken in places. Overall quite shabby. When I talked to the clerk at the front office about the bed sheets she had the nerve to say it was a European custom. I've been to Europe - this has never happened! I've been to France, the UK, Spain, Italy - none of these places had bed sheets missing and blaming it on another continent! Her attitude was also very terse and unwelcoming. Will not be going back.

Stay was nice. Convenient location. Parking for hotel guests was not clear from the street. A sign by the parking garage doors showing 'Novotel guests' would be helpful. All in all, a good stay.

We enjoyed our experience at the hotel and in general, it met our expectations. The staff was friendly and professional. Our upgraded room (Gold Card) was sizeable and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent in Downtown Montreal and especially so since it is within comfortable walking distance of two Metro lines. Having said that, there a few issues that we would like to relate to. a. We are Accor Gold Card members. Not for the first time in various Accor hotels, reception staff were not aware of this and needed to be reminded and pro-actively requested to offer the upgrade that is one of the perks of a Gold Card. We are not begging for favors but are loyal customers and it is incumbent on the reception staff to be aware of the status (check the computer) and on its initiative to offer the upgrade. b. On one of the days of our 5 days stay our room was not arranged till 4 pm and not until we contacted reception. After spending hours away from the room it is disappointing to find it not yer arranged. c. There is a transparent window between the bathroom and the bedroom giving no privacy to a person in the bathroom. We found no blind or other means of blocking that window (as is the case in other hotels we stayed at, including Accor hotels). d. No vegetables whatsoever at the breakfast buffet. Not a healthy experience.

Location is perfect to attractions and shopping. Breakfast is very good. WiFi works well. Room is spacious and clean. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Parking is expensive but ok with easy access to the lobby. Fitness room is nice. We enjoyed our stay.

« A let down. »

My first time staying at Novotel was great which is why i opted to stay there a 2nd time. The lobby was mice, bright, and as modern looking as i remember. The hotel room was a let down in comparison to my first start. The rooms and hallways felt dark and gloomy. The carpet appeared dirty. The ceiling in our bathroom looked like at one point water had leaked from above and the patch job was rough. When we entered our hotel we were struck by a strong odor of what we thought was smoke. We changed rooms and were surprised the second room had the same smell. After speaking with one of the staff about the 2nd room still smelling like smoke she stated "what you are smelling is just our smell. It's a spray housekeeping uses". I was disappointed by my most recent stay at the Novotel as a high standard was set during my first experience there.

« My three night stay at the novotel »

My experience was good. However, on my first night I did notice a few strands of long hairs on the bed sheets. These hairs were not mine for sure as i do not have long hair! That was not a nice experience.
