Dear Mr. Munoz: Our son used to study in Dijon and we stay in your hotel whenever there is an opportunity. This time however it was our last visit. The room and service was as good as expected. However the return of our car left a very bad taste after we found out what happened. As General Manager of a hotel it should be matter of course to take care of certain complaints personally. We enjoyed our room (chic and spacious) and found the bed very comfortable. The service needs a polish however. The phone was not always answered in a professional manner. Room service was hit and miss (items cold or simply missing). Maid service did not replenish key items like tea cups and towels.

The hotel is located in the heart of the city. The staff is warm and helpful. The valet was extremely alert to notice if there’s any customer arrived with one’s own car, when help is needed immediately. Underwhelming, yet again at a Soffitel. So much so, on our return leg we booked ourselves into the adjacent Mercure. Reception was "official" and evasive about parking costs. We eventually found out that we could park for free opposite the Hotel! We arrived late. 10.00pm. We were hungry. We went to the bar - they only had a bar menu which was the bare minimum for a prestigious hotel. The disappointing issue is that instead of caring for us and showing us some understanding we were just left to wander the streets of Dijon in the dark and rain to find some warm food. In toehr hotels we've actaully been driven to a restaurant that stayed open late for us. That's attention to customers. In the end we didn't find anything so we went back to the bar. Ordered champagne and offered Iberian cold platter because that's about all they had. An Iberian platter in France???? Anyway, we were served, what must be the thinnest sliced - possibly by using a microtome, of bog standard chorizo and weird tasting almost semi transparent smoked ham. We wouldn't have minded that, but it was tasteless and exhorbitantly priced. Now we come to the champagne. I was charged €210 euros for a bottle of champagne that I basically didn't order. I agreed that it was a miscommunication - no offer from the bar to rectify a mistake on their part. However, €210 for a botlle of Ruinart blanc de blanc is nbothing short of extortion. We wouldn't mind paying that in, for example, Siberia, or Chicago or Mauritius, but we were less than 150 Kms from Reims! Now we come to the room. A room so well designed that when the bathroom door is left open one cannot open the toilet door directly opposite. What a genius architect. Again, I don't know what propels the Sofitel business department to favour dimly lit corridors, but I find it most disturbing, especially in the extreme version of the near in darkenss Sofitel Munich; which incidently is adjacent the defintion of seediness - the ~Munich Hauptbahnoff. This combination couldn't be more sinister in atmosphere. We won't be staying in the Sofitel again.

This is a perfect 4 star hotel but fails to deliver on its 5 star promise. It guarantees a pleasant stay, the reception staff is delightful and the remarks below explain why it does not deserve its 5 star certification. First of valet service, there is no one outside the front entrance of the hotel as you pull up in your car. No one to help with the luggage, there are 8 steep steps that lead to the lobby and you are on your own. I would expect the valets to be present outside to welcome and help you. As mentioned above, the lobby is beautiful and the reception staff are a delight. Check in is quick and easy. We stayed in a superior room. It is nice and large and very clean. The bed is two single mattresses pushed together and there is no mattress topper to eliminate the gap between them, which is standard equipment in a 5 star property. Bedding is clean and crisp. Bedside table is cluttered with a huge telephone, there is no room for you personal belongings there. The room is furnished with two comfortable armchairs and a coffee table. The work desk is ergonomically okay. The bathroom is a nightmare, long and narrow and designed by someone who hates personal hygiene. Tiny narrow bathtub, no shower head holder that would allow you to attach it to the wall and enjoy your shower. You must use it as a handheld shower, as if you are in a cheap 2 star property. There is no towel hook next to the bathtub, so the towel remains on the floor getting sprinkled by the water from the shower, as there is no shower screen. The tap on the washbasin is effective but super tight and very difficult to adjust the water temperature. Toiletries are sad looking and not exciting, their bottles are made of very hard plastic and very difficult to squeeze unless you an Incredible Hulk. There is a separate toilet without a sink which makes it questionable hygienically. The view for the superior on the first floor is the street and neighboring building, nothing to write home about. The breakfast is amazing and everything is delicious, gotta give credit where the credit is due. The breakfast servers are underqualified for a 5 star property. They kept putting my dirty cutlery on the bare tabletop every time they changed a plate, like they were saving on dishwasher at the hotel and were stingy with clean knives and forks. Very strange. When the customers leave the tables, the servers push the crumbs and waste to the floor, which was even more strange and unlike a 5 star restaurant. All in all I would come back to the property provided I got a room with a walk in shower and a good price deal, otherwise there are more reasonable properties in Dijon. The front desk is super, the breakfast is smashing, the service has a long way to go and they should fire their interior architect.

We stayed at the hotel only for one night. This was the only drawback of our stay ;-) The stuff was very friendly. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. We profited twice from the room service which was also perfect and fast. Overall a perfect experience, we will defenitely come back for a longer stay.
