the restuarant and bar staff are exceptional (excluding some Sundays which is mainly junior staff The reception team are very good. I do think management should interact more with the guest. In 8 weeks I had one interaction with someone from the management team

The room did not look like the one listed on the site. When I entered the room I found an old shoe and the chairs were covered with dust. I have bad allergies. I asked to switch to another room and was told they all look the same. I checked the other rooms out and they were right dust was everywhere. They didn’t change the sheets and crackers fell on the floor and were not vacuumed for days. I asked for assistance with turning the air down and no one came up they tried to walk me through it on the phone. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

« Lovely hotel and staff, but plumbing issue wasn't promptly addressed. »

The check-in staff, 24hr market concierge, and most dining staff were wonderful. Upon arrival, I reported that my shower drain was clogged and it took over 2 days for maintenance to repair it, during my 6-day stay. The staff were very kind to open the fitness center 1.5hr early for my use. Thanks!

Everything about the hotel was great. The design, the massive beds, the cleanliness, friendly staff, and facilities, however the jacuzzi that was boasted on some pages online was not a jacuzzi but a deep bath tub and the food is over priced for what you are getting. I think the food is the area that needs to be improved as it is not up to 4 star standard. It was nice but could have been better. It was mediocre food nicely displayed but you were paying the 4 star price for it without the experience. The vegetarian options were very welcome but could be expanded. We loved the small services such as the shuttle and boat shuttle to the city. However we were sad to see a lot of complaints online about the shuttle service. I know not everyone is able to walk much but if you are staying that far from the city centre and aren't using your own transport then you will need to find your own way around and that is not up to the hotel to do, so the fact that they do cater to this at all is pretty great I thought. The metro is so close the shuttle service really isn't needed! It takes minutes to get to over amstel metro! The staff were really lovely. Check in was fast as was check out, we used the fast check out service where you just drop your keys in the box and go. The gym is pretty small. The place is nicely decorated and initially feels like it's in the middle of nowhere but if you cross the bridge there is a park and a range of shops and restaurants 10 minutes walk over the bridge. We were able to pick food up at the shops and take back to use the free fridge in our room which we were deli hted with. Over all we were very happy with our stay.

I found the restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. The meeting staff was also attentive and nice. I was met at the front desk by Bart, who was unfortunately not very friendly. When I checked in I specifically asked to leave the card open for room charges, however upon ordering room service, found out that was not done. Additionally, my stay should have been for one more night. When Bart indicated my stay was booked as shorter, I had to ask for availability and then he would not book for me, but told me I had to call my company. I have stayed at the mercure before and have been able to adjust. His complete disinterest in helping me, his lack of setting up the account right and in general unwelcoming attitude made me unwilling to stay one more night and I booked a different hotel for the last evening. I hope this can be constructive for your staff to know, for Philips travelers, we can book ourselves directly and do not need to go away and call our travel service. Thank you for listening.

The check in process was smooth - I had done this online so it was very quick. The man on reception explained the hotel and its services to me. My room was very clean with a nice relaxing chair to read the paper or enjoy an Nespresso coffee in the mornings. I loved the ability to conserve the environment by not having the rooms cleaned each day but I would have liked the option to donate the 5 Euros to planting a tree rather than having to use the hotel bar or restaurant.

Room is not clean, old. No bath gels, coffee etc. I stayed quite long 10d. Staff mostly are not human. I come to amsterdam almost 3x a year and always stay in your hotel. But, All staffs still don’t recognize us, except one Indo staff at the restaurant.

The check in was very friendly. The room was ok on a first look. Unfortunately the bathroom was only cleaned on the surface. The toilet was really badly cleaned and the shower as well. Mold was visible at the air duct of the air condition. Overall a really ugly experience in regards to hygiene.
