« Although I have stayed at this hotel many times before, I find my welcome impersonal. »

When the valet parked my car in the secure parking, he backed it into a wall and did damage to the rear bumper. There was a movie being filmed in the foyer of the hotel which took priority and made checking out difficult. On a positive note, thé food and menu was much improved. My room was very nice.

Lovely stay in the grand hotel cabourg, excellent location, friendly staff, Sunday brunch excellent, bar drinks overpriced which was a shame. Spacious bedrooms with all the amenities, and since our last stay the hotel has now provided more storage for your clothes, and the bedding appeared to be better quality, however they still have not rectified the air con in the bedrooms, which is still ineffective, resulting in windows being open and then getting casino chuck out noise late at night.

The location of the hotel on the promenade was perfect and the bar, lounge and dining room and bedroom all very comfortable, well appointed and stylish. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Dinner in the restaurant was superb and unforgettable. Although we were informed in advance of the presence of a film crew, it did detract from the ambience and restfulness of our weekdays. Particularly so when we arrived tired after our journey; check in was interfered by the filming. We were confused by the filming hustle and bustle when the reception staff were taking of credit card details. Generally we suggest that the Accor booking system/confirmation should be clearer about what credit card swipes are to be taken and for what purpose, perhaps a preliminary devis to summarise the check in transactions?. At the weekend we were disturbed by the barking of dogs in bedrooms affecting the restfulness of our holiday. Perhaps we should have brought this to the attention of your staff. However we believe that customers with dogs should be allocated rooms well away from other customers. Notwithstanding the last two points, we enjoyed our stay and in particular were most impressed by the staff.

« Filming during guests' stay NON!!! »

Your already stretched to the limits staff could not handle guests's needs during film teams' activities. The public areas were sandy and dirty and,lifts smelling of smoke. It is NOT appropriate at this price lwvel to ask guests to wait at doors for two minutes while filming is going on and we were repeatedly - and to excess forbidden from entering the hotel. Asking for my blics de glace at check out - they could not be found for 35 minutes. Breakfast quality ok but notwhat it should be.

We loved the hotel. Beautiful view. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Although the front desk staff doesn't not seem as knowledgeable about the local area as we would have expected at a 5-star hotel. Air conditioning in the room was not working as well as it should, and that should have been checked out before customers move in. After we mentioned it, then they put a small unit in the room because they didn't have an engineer on site in the evening. Again, in any 5-star hotel, especially in the US, they would have had an engineer on site or on call.

« Tired decor, friendly staff, some French inflexibility »

The staff were extremely helpful and kind. For example one staff member surrendered his car parking space so I could park my care directly outside the hotel. However we had one disappointing experience. My 10 year old son and I arrived by ferry from Portsmouth which was delayed.Therefore we arrived after 11pm which meant we missed the all day room service menu. There was not a single item on the overnight menu which was child friendly. Cold octopus salad doesn't cut it. So my son went to bed very hungry. We searched around the environs of the hotel for restaurants but nothing was open. The best the casino could offer was a packet of crisps. Very disappointing! The décor of the hotel is quite tired and really needs a spruce. would I return to this hotel? No. Would I recommend it? No.

We had a very warm reception by the staff. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is beautiful. It the furniture does not fit the hotel. The bed, although very comfortable , is tasteless and oversized. The corridor too dark. A pity that the hotel hired a designer that did not understand the elegance of the place.

My family of three (two adults, one teenager) stayed in the Gonzague Saint-Bris suite. It was even nicer than it looked on the website. The hotel's location is perfect: on the boardwalk and right at the start of the main pedestrian street. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good buffet breakfast.
