« Generally satisfied but a few small things could have made this a magnificent stay for us »

We had two rooms for us and our kids. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The front desk staff and the valet were helpful polite and cheerful. The overall stay was restful and enjoyable. On the first morning as early as 0930, part of the breakfast items were over (including the sausages, bacon and cheese). On asking for it my wife was told they were over. Inexplicable. Housekeeping was erratic and inconsistent. I am sure there is a standard of refilling various things like tea bags in the room - this was either not done (on one day) or not done consistently (English breakfast tea bags were replaced with fruity tea). On asking the bar downstairs, my sons were actually told to pay €5 for 2! Honestly both incidents are shocking and definitely not worth the name of the hotel or the chain or respectful to guests. Everything else was wonderful but these two things have left a memory for my wife and both my sons (bearing in mind that my sons would probably be lifelong customers too).

« Not so Grand »

Stayed here for 5 nights . The location is perfect. Right beside Vieux Port. Close to everything you need in Marseille. There are a lot of renovations going on in the area. Our room was quiet & comfortable with air conditioning, but with no views. A sea view is an extra €40 per night. Breakfast an extra €10 per person per day, so quite expensive. The decor is dated. The staff are excellent and so helpful.

The room...(701 Suite Frederic Chopin) was disappointing for the top suite.......Fridge not working ...took 2 days to fix and then was just left in corner of the room because it overheated....blind on window was broken so could not be raised......chair on terrace missing just a stand for the chair was left...carpet was stained .....no plants on a tired looking terrace ....no flowers in room as seen on web site photo.Air con not working in lounge.

Indeed during your stay, we had a problem with your fridge, and seek an effective solution, the change is useless, so we chose to take it out of the closet to avoid overheating it and make it work properly. The suite choppin has 2 large windows on each side opening each terrase and are in very good condition, another window is condemned and not broken because it can be dangerous in case of strong wind (the Mistral) for the occupants of the room. Once again, we appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. « Overpriced, Overrated »

Marseille is experiencing a tourist boom and Accor is taking advantage of the moment. Actually a boutique hotel with many of the inconveniences that often go with a boutique hotel stay. In an historic building that was nicely restored it needs updating. No well placed sockets for charging or using laptop, room lacked a comfortable chair for reading or watching TV. Noise, beating drums actually, until 1am from the busy port. My bathroom sink had been cemented together in 3 places, shower water on the floor. Industrial bakery croissants at breakfast. If a French hotel cuts corners on the breakfast pastries imagine where else you may feel robbed. Had a seafront suite in Alicante (during their annual fiestas) and a Junior Suite in central Berlin this trip, both also in 4-star hotels and paid at least E100 less per night. To be fair, other similar Marseille hotels were in the same price range. Recommendation: The Mediterranean is full of beautiful, restored ports with their old towns. You can find better value and nicer accommodations elsewhere. Or, stay in a smaller beach town nearby and do a day trip into Marseille. You'll get more for your money, eat better meals and have a more authentic experience.

I also take into account your comment on some of the changes we should make to our rooms to make them more practical. Thank you for your advice. About the noise, it is true that Marseille is a very lively city but we always have good feedback on the soundproofing of our rooms. I will check your room and share it to the service if work is to be done. Finally, we are sad that you found our breakfast to be poor. Our breakfast is famous for having a great product. We work with a local supplier so that most of our products come from our region. About our pastries we work with the same supplier, one of the biggest, that all the other hotels use. Our pastries have high-quality and there is no hotel going to get their pastries in a bakery in town. We demand a large quantity, and this does not reach the quality. Once again, we appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

From the moment you enter the front door, you feel at home. Every single detail has been attended to make your visit memorable - the design details throughout are an elegant mix of traditional and modern, the practical features of outlets & lighting in the rooms is perfection, the amenities and bed linens are lovely, the breakfast offerings superb, the location of the hotel is ideal, but the best part is the TEAM! As a 70 yr old single woman traveling solo you made me feel not only feel welcomed but went out of your way to ensure that my stay was perfection. My port side room became problematic my last night there because of an extremely noisy demonstration by a large crowd out on the Vieux Port esplanade. The night manager was not only sympathetic to my plight but took action to ensure that I was able to get a decent nights sleep. My only wish is that this Hotel & Staff could be replicated in every city that I plan to visit. I've done extensive travel over the years & I must say my stay @ the Grand Hôtel Beauvau Marseille Vieux-Port ranks right at the top. Merci mille fois pour tout ! I hope to see you again some day. « Brilliant location and lovely room but some things could be improved »

Reception very friendly and not at all pushy - I really like the fact that staff seem approachable if you need them but then stay in the background I felt there could have been more coffee provided - only two of the nespresso pots were caffeine and so that was one cup each per day. I know I could have asked for more but that's not the point The one thing that was really annoying was late servicing of the room. We left at 10am for site seeing and came back exhausted and hot at 3 in the afternoon to find the room had not been serviced. This really isn't good enough. We then felt bad when the staff wanted to come in at 3.15 to clean and ended up going back out again before we really wanted to It was good to get good communication with the hotel before we arrived - responded very quickly to email which was good

« Beautiful location if a little pricey »

This is a lovely hotel for the view you get from the bedrooms that overlook the port. Soem nice extras as well with Nespresso machine and nice toiletries. This was a special treat and so we splashed out. I had considered keeping the price down by booking one of the the rooms on the street/courtyard side but they are still expensive and glad I didn't bother particularly whilst the renovations of the street are ongoing. Although the port is noisy the triple glazing really works The hotel staff are polite and courteous without being overbearing My reason for dropping the rating down is that the room was serviced very late in the day. We went out at 10 and when we returned at 10 the room hadn't been cleaned. The staff came at 3.15 wanting to clean and seemed a little grumpy when we said we weren't going out again for an hour. In the end we went out earlier so that they could get on and do their job as we were worried they would be made to stay on late just for us. The hotel really should be better organised as I think its fairly normal for people to want to come back to their rooms at about that time for a bit of a rest before hitting the streets again
