« Nice hotel »

Very good room, clean and good functioning of the bathroom. Polite staff. Check-in online worked well. Varied and tasty breakfast with good quality products(fresh strawberries, pineapples, melons, excellent cookies and coffee). Our demands have been carried out partially. Without room with a view-it was toward the railway station.

« Customer service par excellence in the midst of a heatwave! »

I recently joined my mother for an overnight stay at the excellent Ibis Marseille Centre Gare Saint-Charles before travelling on the TGV to visit my brother in the Ardèche. My mother arrived from Scotland the day before me and was warmly welcomed at the hotel both by the staff at reception and in the restaurant. She was particularly impressed by Omar who handles travel for guests. I have multiple sclerosis and Mum was concerned how we would manage the 500m walk from the hotel to station with our luggage. She had tried to organise help at the station but the staff there were very unhelpful. Omar kindly offered to come in early to help us, setting Mum's mind at rest. Whilst in the hotel we enjoyed excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly and unfazed by the heatwave. On the morning of our departure it was extremely hot which really affects my mobility. Celine who also deals with guest travel, very kindly extended our check out time till 3pm so we could relax in our air conditioned room, a real life saver and much appreciated! After a delicious light lunch, we bought a bottle of champagne to take to my brother and the barman thoughtfully packed it in ice for us. It was chilled to perfection when we arrived several hours later! As promised Omar helped us to the station well in advance of our departure time and returned to help us on to the platform and into the train. I was really overcome by the heat at this point and could not walk any further. Undeterred Omar pushed me sitting on my walker to our carriage. Once he had helped us onto the train with all our luggage, Omar then arranged with a fellow passenger that he would assist us with our luggage in getting off the train as the TGV only stops for couple of minutes at each station. Customer service par excellence!!

I cannot believe that they do not provide hand towels. Also, I asked for 4 pillows and when I got to the room there were only 2. I called and they told me I had to come downstairs to get them myself. I had to wait in line to get 2 pillows. They said on their website they had parking. They only have 5 spaces. When we got there we were told we would have to pay to park in the parking garage because all 5 spaces were taken. Breakfast was not included in our stay. We went downstairs the next morning and had breakfast in the hotel because it was a good breakfast. No one spoke to us or asked us our room number. When we checked out, my husband told the clerk that we had the breakfast, just because we are honest people. The clerk didn't even say "thank you for your honesty." We could have left and not paid and no one would have know the difference. It would have been fair because we had to pay in parking what the breakfast cost. I think it would have been nice for the clerk to at least acknowledge the kind gesture on my husband's part. The room was nice but small. No coffee service in the room. This hotel is located in a seedy part of town, close to a red light district. Not the best experience. I would not stay there again;/

Convenient place to stay the night after putting car on the AutoTrain before getting train to Paris the next day. As usual, the only deficiency was the lack of in room tea/coffee facilities that are normal in many competing hotels. On the other hand, the location of this hotel is ideal for travellers making our type of journey.

Clean comfortable modern hotel. Nice room (No 452) with elevated view over the station square and the city and coastline beyond. Excellent en-suite facilities. Amazed a hotel of this 'quality' has no kettle / tea / coffee making facilities in the room, which is now regarded as standard in the UK (and usually with complimentary small packets of biscuits!) even in most small, private, bed & breakfast establishments. I wish this was a 'Yes/No' facility rather than just being omitted where not provided. A coffee is essential on wake-up! Fortunately I have wised-up and pack a travel kettle + supply of 3-in-1 (or 2-in-1) coffee sachets. I only found one power socket in room 452 (it was a twin socket) which was very inconveniently located BENEATH the desk in the room. The sockets were so close together you could not fit UK adaptors into both sockets simultaneously, so I had to use first one euro/UK adapter, and then a UK multi-socket adapter plugged into that for my kettle + phone + laptop + camera battery chargers. Not a desirable arrangement. Very surprised by the lack of power + USB sockets in a hotel of this calibre. SNCF arrivals/departure screens in the hotel reception lobby are a very useful and thoughtful addition. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Friendly quick check in. Also we arrived early 10am and room ready for us. I think a drinks vending machine on each floor may be a suggestion to be considered as there are no fridges in rooms. But perfect for a early train the following morning.
