« Disappointing »

I found this hotel not to be up to the usual standards of the Accor group. The reception was nice; and the staff on reception were exceptionally nice (as I have come to expect from this hotel chain). However, the room wasn't up to the standard I would expect. There was hair all over the walls of the bathroom, which in general wasn't clean. The windowframes were really dirty with mould all over the sills - even if the windows are old, they could be cleaned. The walls were a dark battleship grey with chips all over them. The beds were very comfortable (good). One of the lifts was out of order and the other was dirty. Really, it was not as I would have expected. I know it's in the city centre, therefore the rooms are going to be small. However, there is no excuse for it not being clean and kept well.

« Not very good, room too small. »

The room we were given, room 512, was only suitable for a single occupant and not for a couple. It was on the 5th floor and as we are in our seventies a lower floor would have been appreciated. The breakfast offering was poor and it should have been included in the room rate but was also charged separately. After booking online my credit card details were used fraudulently and I had to be issued with a new card.

« Very practical for business travellers to Brussels »

Good, and peaceful. Pity about the elevator - but I am sure that it will soon be fixed, and it did not bother me on the first floor - I used the healthy option!!!

Lovely hotel, lovely location however room was very small

« Great location »

Rooms are small for two but for a city center stay great location & very convenient. Staff ok but have had friendlier service on previous occasions at the same hotel. Housekeeping - different quality each day we stayed, some items missed, one day the cups and tea bags were not replaced, asked for some at reception and it seemed as though we had asked to be given the earth. Not enough tea or milk cartons left in the room, really need at least four tea bags per day and two milk cartons per tea bag. We will probably stay again as it is a convenient location.

« Mrs Maria S. »

Very good breakfast, great location. Very small room, broken elevator, not comfortable beds , slow WiFi , only one towel for each person. Upon arrival, on 30.11 19.00 the receptionist ( a woman) was very impolite. I was in urgent and asked for the key and to pay the twelve euros taxes later. She refused and used me so coldly. I find the price very high for my expectations

« Not a bad stay »

It was not bad, but there was a weird smell when we ran water sometimes, the spaces very very small, interiors dated... sort of low quality.

Christos D. Couples - 04/12/2018 AccorHotels certified review

On the afternoon of the 27th of November, I tried to call to Athens from my room but because the telephone was inactive, I was told from the reception that I had to "commit a warranty" with my credit card, in order make a call. I asked if 10 € was enough and got a positive answer and in my question what is the charging rate for the telephone call, I got the answer: I do not know, it depends on the country you are calling. Considering the acceptance of the 10 € as a warranty, and knowing that within the European Union the telephone charges are in a reasonable level, I made three (long) telephone calls. Next day when I asked how much do I have to pay for the telephone, I got the unpleasant surprise of the 163,68 €. I asked again what is the charging rate for the telephone call, I got the same answer. In the room there was NOT any relevant information available, except the " phone units:0,75€" under the evacuation plan, behind the door, and also NO information is accessible in your website. If I knew upfront the extremely high rates, I would never made the phone calls. I believe that this lack of information is not in purpose. I strongly complain for the extremely high amount for my telephones, with the rational that I was NOT in a position to know upfront what was the billing rate. Consider me as an dissatisfied customer for the above reason. Christos D. Athens, Greexe cd…

« Nice modern hotel »

Nice stay with no complaint. Good environmental practices and less fuss. Good with do it yourself concept. Near to Brussels center tourist attractions, 200m away only. Lots of food oulets, shopping shops, etc. Tried the traditional dishes, mussel and Beef Schnitzels. Excellent!

« Very good except for the broken elevator »

The ONLY complaint I have was that there was only 1 out of 2 elevators for the 6 (six!) nights that I stayed there. It is not safe to carry heavy cases in the stairwells.

Great location close to the centre and in a good area. Decent price although decoration and accomodation was just right.

« Good location and friendly staff »

This hotel is located within a few meters of several good places to eat and a very short walk to the Grand Place. It's a comfortable place to stay our only comment is that the bathroom is extremely small. Breakfast was good.

« Very good and pleasant »

My recent stay was very pleasant, I have only two minor things, the lift was out of order for the three days I was there and the free wifi was poor but the (very expensive ) premium wifi was very good.

« Small and inadequately provisioned. »

I have stayed with other Ibis hotels frequently and generally appreciate their mix of budget and quality reliable service, but the facilities of this hotel are really not sufficient. It does feature Friendly and helpful staff, though we were not called back when we attempted to arrange a group reservation despite reaching out several times. The Ibis online booking system itself was difficult to use and not very flexible (maximum of 7 bookings at once, no ability to book a group for different number of nights). The beds were too small - several of our 13 booked guests complained to me about this. Basic facilities were not available - a hotel room without a safe is not really acceptable. One of the elevators was broken from when I arrived on Thursday until the day I left, the following Wednesday, requiring everyone from all 5 floors to use one cramped elevator. The breakfast space is also extremely cramped and required guests to awkwardly move around each other. The rooms are also noisy, with a lot of noise from the hall. On the positive side, the location is excellent.

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to write us about the booking system and the hotel. I’m very sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. In general the online booking platforms limit the booking process to max 7 rooms. However we should have returned your call. This is not our standard practice. Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies for failing to do so. Next time, please contact me directly, I’ll make sure to follow-up closely. In Europe the standard size of double beds is 1m60x2m. Safes are available free of charge at the reception. We are currently investing in a technical upgrade of our lifts. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by having only 1 elevator available temporarily. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Sincerely, Eva SCHEERLINCK | General Manager ibis Brussels City Centre (old Ste Catherine)

« Excellent location. Hotel convenient and overall satisfactory but a touch chaotic and bathrooms really are tiny (which I knew) »

Excellent location within walking distance of many sites. Within stone's throw of many restaurants (some exceptional!) and pubs. Hotel clean and friendly but bathrooms very small. Breakfast bar at times chaotic and sometimes items run out and take a while to be replaced..
