« The one thing I need from a hotel was not possible. SLEEP. »

Found it easily. Reception was confusing with no obvious check in desk. Staff were ok. Car park was scary. Communal areas (away from reception) were depressing and ‘institutional’ Rooms very small stuffy but clean. Bed acceptable. Shower room clean and functional. Loud music played until 4:30am . It seemed to be coming from below?? I was in room 339. I was also disturbed by numerous drunk people knocking doors and shouting throughout the night. Horrendous. This place is only suitable for those who want to stay up/out and don’t actually want to sleep. If the car park hadn’t been such a worry I would have got up at 4am and driven home.

It was OK. Location was pretty loud. They provided ear plugs, but this should have been made clear up front. It would not have affected my decision to stay, but ear plus with a note should not have been the first of me being notified about it. Room otherwise clean and comfy. Didn't use any other hotel facilities so I can't comment on those. I do have a gripe though; I booked and paid online, a couple of days before arrival I was invited to check in online, I was asked for my card details (at this point I assumed I can't have paid when I made the original booking) which I entered and completed the check in. Not sitting right on my mind I checked my bank account, there was a pending transaction for £50 (not the total amount of the booking) and a further check confirmed I had paid when I first booked. I called to speak to them and they confirmed that because I’d checked in online that was their process, in case I sued any o the hotel facilities. What facilities? There is no mini bar or alike, only a bar where I could pay as I go. 4 days after my stay this money is still being held – thankfully I’m not living hand to mouth, there are people who are! I find the deduction itself entirely unnecessary and it was not obvious to me that this was going to be held, I find even more unacceptable is that it’s still being held.

Good location to catch the trains at the New Street Station. Breakfast was ok and fullfilling even I do miss fresh tomatoes, cucumbers etc. Easy to come and leave. Short walk to do some shopping also. Bullring etc. just few hundred meters away.

As it is normal in UK for the room rate , there was no air conditioner. Although circulator (fan) was placed, it was hot during the night and couldn't sleep well.

Toilet and bathrooms are small and tight to move in. In public toilets using the toilet, I was knocking into the toilet roll holder and could hardly move to get toilet paper. In the gents next to the front entrance, there was no soap to wash my hands. The same very cramped toilet space is also true in the rooms. In my room, the main light switch just inside the door did not work. Neither did the TV. Poor maintenance lets down the overall experience

OVERALL I HAD BOOKED 6 ROOMS FOR OUR STAY. EVERYONE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE STAY AND ENJOYED BREAKFAST. THE ONLY PROBLEM EVERYONE EXPERIENCED WAS THE ATTITUDE OF THE STAFF AT BREAKFAST TIME. ONE PARTICULAR STAFF, CANNOT REMEMBER NAME BUT SHE WAS VERY GRUMPY AND RUDE TO ALL THE GUESTS. AT ONE POINT SHE DROPPED A CUP SHE HAD COLLECTED TOGETHER WITH OTHER PLATES AND CUTLERY, VERY DISSATISFIED STORMED OFF TO THE KITCHEN AREA, MY HUSBAND PICKED UP THE CUP AND LEFT ON TABLE AND ON HER RETURN, I TOLD HER IT HAS BEEN PICKED UP, SHE WAS NOT GRATEFUL AT ALL AND LOOKED VERY MISERABLE. NOT FRIENDLY OR RESPECTFUL TO ANY OF THE GUESTS.
