We stayed for 4 nights. Breakfast beautiful. The one meal we had at the restaurant was beautiful. The only thing that we have to suggest is that the sofas in the foyer are not in good shape, and for myself and my husband we also found that some of the seating is too low. So a thought for the future.

Great welcoming staff but outside our room the workers doing building work made the room noisy with banging and drilling constantly being done. Would have thought being a gold Accor member this would have been thought about when assigning the room to us.

We had club room floors and access and really enjoyed the hotels hospitality. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was truly international with a French influence of fantastic bread, cheese and croissants. Definitely will stay there next time I’m in Shanghai.

Stayed 5 nights in their renovated Deluxe Room. Upon checking in the staff did not ask for deposit but during the evening we received a call from front desk asking us to go and put a deposit for our stay. This should be done during check in. We find the hotel staff not very friendly - seems like they are just doing their job and just putting up a smiling face whenever they see a customer. However the concierge is great with helping us getting private car to the airport. The room is a little small and the wardrobe door does not close properly even thought it's a renovated room. We hung our bath towels on the hook as suggested if we do not need fresh towels but housekeeping changes our bath towels everyday. Location of hotel is great - just along Nanjing East shopping street and the Metro is just a short stroll away. We tried MAO restaurant for dinner one night - restaurant looks dated, food was just average and waiter very impatient.

We spent a week at the Sofitel Shanghai Hyland on our first trip to China. It is ideally placed reight on the Nanjing Pedestrian road and only a short walk to the Bund. Staff were generally very good but extra kudos to the Concierge staff and staff in the Sofitel Club.. They went out of their way to ensure we were catered for. Downside is that the rooms are a little tired, and service to them average. Two days running the cleaning service put only one towel in our room, and i had to chase this up, with little help from those staff on the floor I did manage to talk to. All in all though we enjoyed our stay and would come again!

We stayed at the Sofitel as it was centrally located to the downtown area of Shanghai. It is ideally situated on the Nanjing Rd pedestrian street and within walking distance to the Bund. Location was pretty perfect except for distance to and from Pudong Airport, but all hotels in Shanghai have this problem. Staff were exceptional, especially concierge staff who assisted with everything we needed and very helpful in corresponding to taxi drivers about our needs. We also used the Sofitel Club access and were treated to excellent choices and again great staff assistance. The only fault I found was that two days in a row, the cleaner only provided one towel for the two of us, and I had to chase up the second towel - otherwise cleaning services were also very good.

« It was a decent stay. »

I lost my wallet in the hotel and could not find it. As per the duty manager the cameras captured me putting the wallet back into my pocket. But the hotel did not have the footage of the lounge where I think I kept it on the table where we were sitting. This was a sad experience where the hotel was not able to help get my wallet back. It is taken by some body in the hotel.

We stayed at the Sofitel Shanghai Hyland for 1 night and were very happy with it. The hotel is in an excellent location around the corner from the Nanjing Road pedestrian shopping mall and a 10-15 minute, easy stroll to the Bund. Most of the staff we had contact with spoke great English and those that didn't, quickly got someone for us who did! The room was spacious and clean with everything you'd expect in it. Overall we were very happy.

Nice hotel, being refurbished right now. Communication of refurbishment not accurate - we were given a paper saying that it starts at 10 am and will be finished by 31 May 2019 - they started at 8:30 am and continued everyday until we left.

We were disappointed from arrival where we were told we had been upgraded too find we were in a junkier suite which was what we booked. The check in at club level was not as friendly as we have experienced in all other sofitel’s , poor security in that anyone could simply walk in too the club. Food choices were limited. Breakfast in the club was just ok. The Main dining room had a more choices, but service was not good, plates were n to cleared unless you asked. We also had dreadful experiences in all 3 Restaurants, Booked dinner on their Chinese restaurant, on arrival their was a host of workmen dismantling aq floral display in the reception area, with noise and clutter all over the entrance. When we were seated, the noise from a 19th Birthday was so loud we left with no apology. We then went to the MOU restaurant on another level. It was empty and yet we were seated in a terrible area. We asked if they had a table with a view, they moved us to a window table but the attitude of the Manager and waiter was so poor, we walked out. Whilst the Hotel was well located we will never stay there again. This place is a disgrace to the accor group We went straight to ground floor desk and asked to see a manager. After a wait they found a duty manager, we told him of our experience, he appeared concerned but really was inexperienced in his ability to handle our constructive complaints. Noe even a sorry, just took down notes and our details. As we were there for 5 nights, so we expected to hear from a senior manager. There was no follow up, no apology, not even when checking out. ACCOR this is not your reputation or to our experiences as platinum club members. I must say there were 2 young people in the club lounge who were good Mandy and Peter. We though maybe it was a cultural thing, however we ate at great restaurants in Shanghai and the survice levels were well up to World standard, I therefore have to conclude it had to be lousy managment. They can be assured we will make sure none of our friends make the mistake of staying in this hotel. We await an apology, but will not be surprised if that fails to emerge.
