« Not the best experience »

So called 'Privilege Rooms' are ridiculously small and hot for two people. If you have two average size cases there is nowhere to put both of them and be able to move around the room. The bathroom is equally small. Attempts to upgrade were unsuccessful and even getting a late checkout with a privilege membership card was an uphill struggle with staff. Very disappinting experience!

« A big hotel in a good location »

I think I was allocated the worst hotel room in the whole hotel complex. There are two blocks and I was put in a room in the older section. I must say that I was surprised by the room, I booked a single bed one and it was the worst bed I had ever experienced, squeaking all the time, the bathroom also didn't look much appealing. To be honest, I had a feeling like I was in my university dormitory, and I truly recommend to renovate this section or the room, at least as it was not appealing, at all. During the breakfast, I was surprised that there are no labels for describing the products (e.g. is that jam raspberry or strawberry? what flavour is the yoghurt?). When I asked for a little bowl to put some jam in it, the lady said that the only ones are the big cereal bowls or I can take a mug. I wouldn't expect such a level of service in this type of hotel.

My daughter and I stayed for three nights in Privilege room. The room was spacious, the beds super comfortable and your staff were welcoming and so helpful. The hotel looks really lovely now. Thank you for a lovely stay.

My experience of staying in Mercure Budapest Korona Hotel was mainly positive. The room was nice, if a bit small. It had air-conditioning, a small fridge and a safe. The breakfast had plenty of variety, but the weekend staff who were working there didn't really know much. On one morning the pancake maker was turned off, and I asked one of the staff if it was working. She said she didn't know. Eventually she said she would ask in the kitchen, but she then came out and said that they didn't know either. On a different day, one of the housekeeping staff tried to enter our room, without even knocking on the door. We said it to the man at reception, and he was very apologetic about it. The swimming pool is a bit dated, and could do with some refurbishment. Other than that, the hotel was very nice.

« Super location! »

We stayed for 4 nights for vacation. Excellent location, and basically we had a nice stay. 3 things though. We understand that hotels needs to be maintained and fixet up but the workers started early with very noisy tools. We are sorry that we weren't informed that this work was in progress. The breakfast restaurant on the 1. st. floor where a little bit caotic. The tables weren't ready and the coffeemachines was either not work or not refilled and the once working had long queues. We also thougt that our room was a little bit to small being a superior doubleroom. That said we enjoyed our stay and the reception staff was nice and helpful the few times we needed them.

Friendly and professional staff, good breakfast. New and clean room with perfect air conditioning. Easy to reach by public transport (metro access and bus stop in front of the hotel). There are many shops and restaurants around. The city center is within walking distance. I enjoyed my stay.

Great location. Very nice privilege lounge included in our junior suite package. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable main bed, very uncomfortable additional bed (for our child). Our shower was blocked. Took several calls before maintenance fixed it. Service a bit erratic. Excellent at times, poor at others (some staff excelled, others were poor). Major works ongoing to reception area in July 2019 which impacted on our stay. One of three lifts working, had to wait ages on some days just to get out the hotel.

The room was adequate for the length of my stay (only 3 nights) The breakfast hall was manic each day, clearly not enough staff clearing tables or maintaining the area. But the biggest frustration was the renovation, there were sometimes only one or two lifts operating, and one of the lifts never went to floor zero, so you could get stuck on floor 1 with no way down. On the last day when I returned to the hotel, my card had stopped working (as always happens with late checkouts) and I was nearly late leaving for the airport after a combination of two failed attempts to re code my room card, along with struggling to get up and down floors that day in a single lift. In my room two of the lights did not work (room 530) and I had no time due to my work to arrange for them to be looked at. The hotel is in a great location, but overall I felt I received a very poor experience.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Made to feel very welcome upon arrival. Our room was clean and a good size. There were shampoos etc in the bathroom and tea/nespresso machine in the room. We loved the welcome gift - a really lovely touch. We found all staff to be very friendly too. The hotel is well located for metro, trams and buses. There are a lot of nice restaurants nearby but you can easily walk to the centre of Budapest. Would recommend.

A short complain: we are taking environmental issues seriously. Therefore if we select to hang our (used) towels we expect the staff to respect our wish not to replace them with fresh towels.

The overall experience was good. the hotel was nice, clean, service by personnel was good/ the hotel was under renovation and it was quite noisy, but did not disturb the guests stay. Staying wasnt as good as I expected. My room wasnt ready at almost 3 pm, waiting after 1 hour delayed flight wasnt so good because I saw people from my plane that got their room keys immidiately. Breakfast was very poor. I also asked for a wake up call at 3 am 26 of June but I didnt get it.

The hotel clearly hosts a lot of people every day but is prepared for that - so the service may not be very personal but is good, the hotel is clean, food is alright and you can get your rest. Perhaps its not right at the river but the area is nice and lively - definitely worth recommending
