I am satisfied staying 2 nights while I am visiting to one of private universities in Surabaya. The food were delicious and I can swimming easily in the morning before breakfast time.

« Feels like home with some error time. »

It was always a delightful time staying at novotel. However , some error happened during our stay. I booked 2 rooms for my family and had confirmed with the hotel a week before about connecting room but my type of room didnt have connecting room so they gave us a side to side room. When i came in , no one was welcomin us. I had to take 2 luggages , 1 kid , 1 bag by myself as my husband parked the car. Room 1 was okay. But the AC in room 2 wasnt cold enough. And when they asked us to move , they( A man) gave us a room at other side of hotel which is too far. When we asked again , the different person ( A lady) gave us another room side to side to room 1. So why the answer was different? Next day , when we were ready for check out , in room 1 i smelled some burn. I thought it was my daughter baloons. Turn out it was the AC controller! Lucky us , it didnt get to big. When we check out , no one says apologize in resepsionis counter. I think they need to put a note on which room with problem so when we check out , they know that our stay isn't perfect.

« Nice hotel but it needs an upgrade »

Novotel Surabaya has been my favourite hotel due to its design that creates a resort kind of feel. It is a pity that the hotel rooms are not well maintained and service should be improved (mainly for the female staff). Breakfast items can be improved and I was pleased seeing male F&B staff who could still smile even it was so busy during breakfast period.

The front desk staff and bellboy were nice, really helpful and kind. Some of buffet staff was not 4 stars hotel quality. They gather around one stall/stand and chit chat. The only thing they did was greet me when I leave after breakfast. The breakfast buffet I may say middle to low class hotel, I expect better breakfast selection and freshness. 2 stars hotel in Vietnam have much better breakfast than Novotel Surabaya. The hotel room was surprisingly dirty, mold all over the wall (TV wall) and bathroom curtain, dust all over the desk and sofa. And this is not small dust, but thick dust like the room never been used for a month.

Overall its a nice uoyel to stay especially with family. But since i stay in many hotel include novotel in several city, i notice in Novotel surabaya the food quality and variance are lesser than others. Even compare last previous stay looks decreasing in variance, quality and staff services.

Despite its rather old facility, Novotel Surabaya is superbly maintained. The ambience is peaceful partly because it has a large yard shaded by large trees. The staff's attitude and service are excellent.

I have to say we didnt enjoy our stay in Novotel due to the room was dirty. The bed was dusty and smell bad. The aircon temperature couldnt be set. The floor was also dirty, our feet turned black. There were hair found on shower hole. We really wanted to go home and stayed on our bed. Surely wont come back.

Having read to your feedback, we have put our utmost concerns on the issues and with our sincerest apology for the unfavorable experience. In order to provide you with a better picture of the issue, herewith, our explanations. 1. AC not cool enough As soon as we received the report, we have sent our team to further following up on this issue. After our engineers completing thier checks on the air conditioning, we found out that there were no faulty on the compressor and other equipment of the AC. However, we undertand your lack of confidence on the room coolness which we finally arranged a room move. 2. Food Storage at the hotel's kitchen We regret to advise that we are not allowing anyone to store any food both cooked and raw others than the hotel's in our freezer and chiller. Reason being, it is part of the Food Safety procedure that we practise and stongly hold. 2. The refrigerator inside the room We are not sure on the required coolness to maintain your food as the room refrigerator is a mini bar where we store our all packaged food and beverage based to our specifications. 3. Another payment requested at Reception As we made our investagion, the additional payment that we obtain was the charges for the room upgrade which requested and the incidental deposit which is to ensure your flexibility in consuming and enjoying your stay at the hotel. Mr/Ms. Lonta K, trust our explanation are suffice and furnish you well. We understand that there were dissapointment on the experience. As such, we extent our sincerest apology and hope you still reserves the confidence to continue choosing the hotel as your preferred accomodation for any possible future trip. The hotel n room is very good, but in my opinion, it seems likely the hotel has not enough employee, nobody serve us at the accor priviledge check in counter, and no one open the front door, also at the restaurant, nobody standby in there
