Overall our 3-night stay was ok but moslty because the bed was comfortable and we were able to get some sleep. The hotel is well located and we managed to walk/bike downtown. However, we were extremely disappointed by what we saw advertised on several sites as a smoke-free property when actually several of the main shared areas smelled like cigarette - including the fitness room where it was unbearable. The hotel was also advertised as having full laundry but this was misleading since they didn't have a laundry room for guests on site - you had to send your clothes for cleaning and the price was ridiculously high. I enjoyed Bordeaux but next time we visit we may opt for an Airbnb or different hotel.

Charged for milk for a baby which is ridiculous. Room left open for an entire day by cleaning staff! All our valuables inside with door wide open. Dead pigeon in fountain of courtyard. Room fridge filthy Air conditioning inadequate for heat

Friendly welcome. The room itself was a good size and well furnished, if a bit tired looking and with carpet (would be better refitted with parquet). The building feels very 1980s. The air conditioning didn't work but the staff moved us to another room. I would have liked to be able to open the window but all were locked. It's a fairly long walk down to the C tram in hot weather. For one night it was fine.

Impressive large entrance, reception, bar and restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our Privilege room was very large clean and quiet and we especially liked having the door to close off the sleeping area from the bathroom and toilet. Overall our stay was very good and the location was perfect for us.

We booked this hotel as part of a friends reunion weekend but I regret to say that we were disappointed by the overall result of our stay and the hotel has to be one of the poorest I have stayed in recently, it is most definitely not a four star. Despite being a fine old building which from the facade looks impresive the inside is suffering from lack of care some examples are the bathrooms, our shower head was so leaky that as much water was coming from the rear as the desired spray head. We were unable to have the shower head raised to prevent the whole room becoming even more soaked than was already happening, this was not an isolated example as our frinds reported the same issue in their room, surely housekeeping must observe this together with the soaked towels and floor yet nothing is being done to correct the situation. Another example was our room looked out over a large flat roof with a number of skylights above the large dinning room, three of which were covered in large sheets of polythene that blew in the wind and rain making it impossible to have a window open at night due to the noise level. Another indicator of either poor maintenance or lack of investment. The overall decor of the hotel was rather dull and in places highly marked giving an impression of being downtrodden though to be fair the areas were clean and tidy. We did not use the large restaurant area in the evening as previous reviewers had criticisms for the quality and sought out nearby local restaurants which were fine though the area surrounding the location was not too impressive and not one for the short stay city break. The buffet breakfast was acceptable but the hot food rather dry and over cooked. The hotel does have a large underground parking area at €10 per day which provided safe and secure parking together with free electric vehicle charging points. Overall I would not recommend this hotel for city break travellers there are more better placed and I am sure better quality to be found in Bordeaux, Accor not up to your usual standards, this one let you down!

I travelled with my wife to stay at this Mercure Hotel on a return trip from a holiday in Spain and as a special night to meet up with another couple for a birthday celebration. Having used a number of Mercure Hotels over the years I was expecting this location to be special having viewed the web site. Regrettably we found the hotel tired and certainly not up to its four star rating. The location is difficult for central Bordeaux and there are better options available, the decor is dated some of it deliberate to give the old world effect that this building clearly had but lack of maintenance has taken old fashioned to a new level. A prime example was the shower where more water was spraying out of the back of the shower head and over the bathroom than concentrating on myself. This was mentioned to the receptionist who response was a rather garlic shrug and I’ll mention it to house keeping. It may be a small example but the room maids must see the issue daily yet it has not been rectified. Our friends reported the same issue in their room so not isolated and maybe reflects the overall care taken within the establishment. Generally the whole place needs a make over.

We arrived about 8 PM on Monday night, hoping to find a good restaurant then unpack and get some sleep. The area surrounding this hotel offers nothing of interest. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant as it was the only option. The wine was pretty good. That’s it. The pork (recommendation) was tough and bone dry. The fish soup had 1 piece of fish. The shower mixer must have been broken—scalding hot water only. We could not shower (after arriving from California...nearly 20 hours of travel). At checkout, I explained the shower problem. “I’ll tell maintenance about it”......that’s it. Plus no minor break on the 1 bottle of water from the mini bar, no complimentary anything to say “so sorry for your inconvenience.” If you travel much or have medium level expectations: Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Good overall experience. Very nice receptionists, decent room. Wifi speed could have been better. Overall room/hotel design a little bit out dated, but all very clean. Excellent breakfast buffet and nice bar/restaurant.

I stayed here for the conference. They didn't recognize my Accor status at all. Other people were also saying that the staffs at this hotel were not friendly and never smile except one lady.One morning, the breakfast buffet area was congested, and many people were sitting in the restaurant area also. A hotel guy told me that this area is not for breakfast but lunch. As he urged me to get out from there, I followed him. But He didn't stop other new people to have tables in the area after that. I soon realized that the particular kind of selected people could take tables in the area. Although I disappointed very much with this experience, I wish that this would be my misunderstanding. Be fluent in French before you stay at this hotel!
