« Great location, views and service »

In the city centre with walking distance to lake and bar/restsurants. Staffs are very professional trained and friendly. Room is reasonable big but very clean, we felt comfortable to stay. Dinner buffet is a bit crowed as it's very popular, so it's highly recommended to book first, as it's crowed so the service was delay and not as good as the breakfast dinning.

Reception staff friendly although they initially got the room rate wrong because of the $1 breakfast deal. The room was comfortable but a chair each would have been nice. The in-room internet was hopeless and when you’ve got a teenager that’s important. We enjoyed the pool but there was a shortage of pool towels and two of the pools were out of action. The breakfast was great

« Lovely rooms , but service was pretty slow. »

Loved the view from our room, and the rooms in general were lovey to stay in. However on arrival we were told one of our rooms weren’t ready ( this was 2 hours after check in had started ) , 5 of us went to the one room that was ready and were told they would bring our keys up ASAP. We had to wait for another hour, I then went back to reception , and they handed me the keys..... the room had been ready , but they had forgotten to tell us. No one told us where the pools were or the restaurant , we had to go back and ask , and no towels available at the pool, again we had to ask for those to be topped up . We did enjoy our stay , but a shame the service was a bit slow, almost felt like the hotel was understaffed . Would still return to stay , as it’s a lovey spot and a very comfortable room.

« Great time with a little let down »

Overall, it is a great stay but a little let down. We love to stay in Novotel Rotorua for the personal touch and hospitality. This time round it was a slight let down on 2 particular issue. First of all, as Accor member, we were usually greeted with a personalised welcome on the TV screen, a welcome card and a welcome gift. This time round we did not received it. Secondly, we dine at the Atlas restaurant several times and felt that the team were short-handed thus lack the personal touch. Other than that, we still enjoy our time there and happy with our stay. We also went to Ibis Ibar for dinner and love the new renovation.

We all had a wonderful time. Except that our 3 rooms should have been right beside each other and have heard that one of the front desk staff gave one of our pre-arranged rooms out to another guest.

« Not what i expect from a Novotel »

Very underwhelming, the facilities were nice and the rooms clean and tidy. Here is my issue with this stay, i had to ask four times for pool towels over a one hour period before giving up and going back to my room. That is just not acceptable. Second your breakfast was terrible, the eggs were stone cold, the bacon burnt, the juice was not replenished and they were in silly little jars. The make your own juice bar was a disgusting mess, why give people the opportunity to make such a mess. The tables were not being cleared so we had to wait some time to find a spot and then you have to sit surrounded by tables of uneaten food. Also if you have a bar its good practice to have a bar tender, sitting and waiting for someone to show up to serve you is a missed opportunity. Your pool area was nice, you should promote the private pool more. The gym was very good for a hotel gym and the availability of parking was excellent. Shower head and water pressure in room 439 could do with an inspection

The only thing I would have changed was the room to small for 1 adult and 3 kids, 8,9 and 11 but I think that was based on availability otherwise awesome stay.

Although I appreciated getting a booking at such short notice the special room we were allocated was way below the quality that I expected (room 222) the shower curtains were ripped and the whole bathroom was at a very poor standard. We decided to have lunch at the restaurant and it was dirty. The floor was dirty, there was noodles all over on the floor by the buffet area. I did not expect such poor standards at Novotel.

« Our best stay in Rotorua »

Brought our whole extended family as we heard the Novotel was the place to stay in Rotorua. We have stayed in a number of other places in Rotorua in the past but nothing compares. There is a real 5 star feel to the lobby, rooms, friendliness, and professionalism of the staff. We were even given a couple of jars of chocolates when we checked out for the kids - after which they demanded we come back again!!!

The room needed refurnishing and the bar was disappointing with the on tap beer empty and lack of bar staff. We used to think the Novotel was so flash but it has lost its edge.
