« Great location »

This is a great location in Rotorua. Close to eateries, the lake and everything you need. This hotel is clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean. Pillows were good with extra options if needed. There is self parking beside the hotel which is not undercover but great as you can just access your car when you need to

« Little issues add up »

Overall hotel was good on big issues: room size, bed comfort, cleanliness, etc. However, little issues iratated us: luggage carts do not fit on elevator with guests without great struggle, we had to wait for pool towels as none were available, ramps from car park to hotel are inconvenient, deadbolt room lock did not work, and restaurant quoted one price but at check out it was $10 per person higher. We got this corrected but why try to “trick” guests. The front desk should know exactly what the hotel buffet costs. Finally, we booked a lake view room but provided a city view. When I went to front desk they stated our agent booked a city view and the hotel was fully booked even after I showed written confirmation. Pressing more, I was told a two bed room with lake view was available. What?? Why lie and say it is fully booked and my agent is wrong then find an lake view is available. Be happy I gave you grace of a 7 rating.

Brought my family and a friends family for a holiday to Rotorua Great location and parking Attentive staff at service desk Poor service at breakfast and walked away from breakfast despite having paid for this tables not cleaned Very poor staff to customer ratio Had our meals at nearby restaurants Sagging beds in room 229 Tarnished tapware in all 4 rooms I booked

« Pleasant stay but with a few issues. »

The overall stay was pleasant enough but the bed was very uncomfortable (way too soft). The restaurant for dinner and breakfast was very crowded and the staff didn't seem to be keeping up with the demand. The food and plates kept running out and the tables weren't cleared or set in time for the incoming guests. We did enjoy the venue though and possibly the Concert at the Village Green on the night was the reason for the influx of people at the Hotel but this should have been catered for.

Normally it is 100% fantastic, this time we had to clean a table to sit down for breakfast, there were no plates and the front counter staff didn’t realise I’m an Accor so had to ask for the drink tickets and we paying didn’t have the food discount.. staff and dining the last three times has been very very good so no big problem just not as good as normal..

Check in was painless .we were in our room within 5 minutes of arriving there!, We had one wee negative when we asked concierge for complimentary bottle of water we were looked at with disgust then they replied our water is safe to drink from tap!, as if we knew that or should of known!!

Mostly our stay was at the standard we would expect at a Novotel hotel, but when we returned to our room the Saturday afternoon, (we checked in Friday night, to leave on Sunday morning) approx. 5.30pm our room had not been services, so I have to phone reception for this to happen. Then on Sunday morning Housekeeping arrived in our room at 8.45am to strip our room, I was only partly dressed and we had not checked out!!, How does Housekeeping get their information? ( I have worked in this industry, so I am aware that this should not happen) I was very disappointed with this aspect of our stay. Regards, Margaret F.

Well appointed hotel, very helpful staff.; room clean and had brilliant lakeside view. Had a problem with the TV but the duty manager sorted this out as quickly as possible. All the general areas were very nice, including the bar with the open pit fire. The spa with the thermal pools was fantastic. Good gym too.

« Good surprise »

Novotel at Rotorua is a very good hotel, located in front of the lake, so the landscape is wonderful!!!!, It is near an excellent food street where you can have an interesting gastronomic experience. The room is spacious, wifi with good speed and complimentary coffee and tea. Breakfast had good variety of cold and hot food. I have only one complaint about the cleanliness of the room: the carpet needs to be better vacuumed under the beds.
