I think this is a luxurious and comfortable hotel. The room was comfortable and the staff were kind, too. Most of all, I really liked the view from the room. I am very satisfied and will stay again if I come back to Melbourne.

Hotel internet signal from the room was weak and network was slow, so ended up reverting to hot-spotting. Restaurant was a bit too rowdy with raucous kids parting in the restaurant on the Saturday evening. The staff did their best, but it's a bit hard to take in the view with all that noise. Heavy bass emanating from the function on the floors above kept us awake later that evening, which was disappointing with an early departure the next morning.

Kirill the reception is very friendly asking few question like what the occassion. i mention our 19th wedding anniversary i was a bit early around 9am. am just about to leave my luggage and comeback later for check in time but suggested that there is a room ready if i want to check in now. i said yes am very grateful. This give me time for preparation to see Harry Potter one and two. when we comeback to the room we have a surprise bottle of chilled wine waiting thank you Kirill your amazingly making our stay great and attention to details. thank you Mr and Mrs R.

I received a call a few days before my stay asking if I would like to downgrade by room. I was offered $100 to downgrade. When I found out what was on offer I was a little confused and disappointed and could not believe what I was being asked to do. I refused the offer and expected exactly what I had paid for to be available. I arrived at the hotel on the Saturday and when checking in I was told I had been downgraded and the hotel was crediting me $50. Obviously my request fell on deaf ears and the refund had reduced from $100 to $50. I can only imagine this was due to not accepting the room change a day before. We were escorted to the room and asked if it was okay. We felt at this point we were not being listened to and accepted the room. I wish we had looked at the bathroom first before accepting it. The mess of the bathroom and the layout was not what was booked. Dirty bath mat and a shower curtain, re-plastered walls not finished. Not waht was advertised. Dirty bedroom windows and positioned next to the lift. It was a disappointment and certainly not worth the money I paid. This was a gift to my wife for her birthday and she was disappointed so it made me quite upset, especially with the money I spent. We stay at the Sofitel every year on this date for her birthday but we might be looking elsewhere next year. Can I also say that the breakfast was disappointing. The hash browns were over cooked. They were hard and dry, no baked beans were on serve to soften them and the bacon had been sitting out for a long period of time. We decided to bin our cooked breakfast and go continental as it looked more appetising. We have pictures of the breakfast and the room if you require them. I'll copy and paste this review and hold it in a word document as I might also share this with Trip Advisor. Things that were good, the view out of three of the six windows, movies on demand, it was fairly quiet apart from the lift noise. The Atrium bar was good but needs someone to make decent cocktails and provide some better whisky and gin options. I suggest contacting thespiritscompany.com.au, they'll help with this and make a better customer experience happen.

Overall a most enjoyable experience, the only negative was that I received an email about an upgrade which I selected with the option to pay extra. I received a call form the hotel which I took as a confirmation that the upgrade was going through but found out at check in there was no availability. I understand the rooms need to be available so not sure why I received a call.

The Club lounge staff were exceptional, attentive to service and exceptional in every way and why I would come back. We also dined in your hotel with another couple and the food was very very poor and over priced at best, quality of the food was not good, persoanlly ordered the chowder for entree and was bland at best and lanb for amy main meal and received two cutlets both 95% fat. The staff also need to be trained not to come to our table mid way through entree and ask what we wanted at that point for our main meal, I was shocked she would actually do that and advised her we were eating in which she replied, "so do you want me to come back to take your order" Really!! If you want to position yourself at your prices level you need to sort that. One of our table ordered the steak medium well and she ate one third of it as it was medium rare at best and she refused to send it back. That part of our stay was paid at the time but did use my accorplus membership but I will not be rushing back to the restaurant in a hurry for dinner. Apart from that which was really really disappointing, everything else was terrific, just a shame that put a dampener on my/our stay over the two night in room 4820 on the 8/11-10/11

Overall my stay was great, loved the breakfast, Clean and comfortable room, perfect location! Fantastic Shower and Water pressure!. however there is NO pool or indoor Spa. Also, the rooms don't have the latest devices to connect via Bluetooth.. for example, a very OLD BOSE system.. Old TV.. and so on.

The stay was acceptable with a few issues. The tablet placed on the desk just didn't work and that in its self was not a issue as I always have my own electronic equipment. The issue is that that tablet appears to be the replacement for the in room service menu so, at 10pm we were unable to find a menu and did not want to call and get someone to go through the menu over the phone. We gave up. I also found that there were various cosmetic items in the bathroom but, no tooth brushes. I was later advised that they are available on request. I must have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the past few years, including Sofitel branded properties, and I have yet to encounter this strange practice, even in 3 star hotels.

Lovely hotel and the food at no35 was excellent. The service felt a bit rushed early on and we had to slow the service down. Overall very good experience. Appreciated the complimentary drinks for our anniversary, however the waiter at the Atrium charged us for the drinks which I had to mention they were complimentary.

Stayed two nights. One night was a gift voucher from relatives. Went into your system as two bookings. WHY? Tried to upgrade but two bookings caused it all too hard. Checked in. After first night the room key didn’t work. WHY? Because two bookings, needed new key for second night WTF. Room showing it’s age. No place to charge phone etc. Went to breakfast the first morning, gave up waiting at entrance so just went and got table without being checked in, service crap. Second morning at entrance to breakfast a wait behind 4 people but only one person on, finally served and told ‘sorry no tables, sit here and wait ten mins till people leave’ Finally had breakfast. Checked out and told account would be emailed to me but it didn’t arrive. Rand this morning and asked account to be emailed. Still didn’t arrive. Emailed hotel late this arvo asking for copy of invoice but have still received NOTHING.
