« Hotel need of upgrade »

The location of the property is perfect, that's why we keep returning here. But the rooms really deserve a refurbishment, the floors feel lose, there is visible water damage from outside, some of the curtains need replacing. The worst is the beds!! You basically sleep on springs, which is not good for anyone's back. Housekeeping was kind to try to add some padding to the bed, but that didn't help much. The beds really need attention!

When we arrived for our 2 night stay I was ill and required the services of an English speaking Doctor. Marisa on reception arranged for this to happen and more importantly on a Saturday. She also arranged for our 2 night stay to be extended to 4 nights so I could recover. Thank you Marisa and her team for such caring and supportive service.

« Welcome? »

I called the Mumbai Sofitel the "Smiling Hotel". I would call this Mercure the "Never Smiling Hotel". No welcome address upon arrival, no hello from the staff in the breakfast room, never any greetings from reception staff during the stay. Instead starring at their screen. Even the barmen just stands at your side and takes orders, without any "obrigado". Hotel is clean, functional, breakfast is good, the rooms spacious, the bed acknowledges any movement with creaks. Refurbishing the room may be a good idea.

« Nice hotel on good location, the hotel inside is a bit run down »

Good and friendly staff, perfect location. The hotel itself has a vibe of past "grandeur". You can see it must have been a top notch hotel once upon a time, but now it is a bit run down. Scratches on all the furniture in the room, dents in the door, lose roof panels in the bathroom, tables in the dining room where the side strips are missing or are hanging loose... The fact that two rooms on our floor were cleaned with the doors taped of did not improve our overall perception of the hotel. But everything in the room and the hotel was functioning, the breakfast was as expected. On the breakfast, one point of improvement might be to get a second coffee machine to reduce the waiting queues.

The room and service was as we expect of a Mercure Hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient, the location is perfect on the sea front. Parking was not a problem in early June (free on street) but I supect it would be in July and August. Resturant menu is a little restricted if you are staying for more than a couple of days but there are quite a few eateries near buy. Breakfast is very good.

Good comfortable room with sea view. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of choice at breakfast, the only issue was only one coffee machine which caused queues. Good location for us in lovely town with plenty of bars and restaurants.

« Pillows! »

We liked the location, the facilities and the front desk staff. The pillows, however, were very hard and made it difficult to fall asleep. Also, although there were two of us in the room, the coffee supplies had not been refreshed so there was only one regular coffee, one decaf and no creamers. The room was clean, the bathroom was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. We did not eat breakfast or other food so cannot comment.

« Good service. No surprises. »

Great reception. No ramp to bring/take bags from car. Load/unload space not protected from rain. Ad hoc help bringing the bags in. I should have tipped the helpful bartender. Got locked out of the room, while checking out. Saved by helpful maid. Survived it all. No surprises.

« Not more time »

We got best room but no one clean the floor before. We have small baby so we do with my wife. On the launch we got burger which was frozen inside . Pasta tast like army ready to eat meal. But the worst was in the night Our bad was so noisy that you wake up after every move. When I sand up to prepare milk for my daughter I woke up all my family. And one question.

It was very nice. The beach is right in front a wide beach area, with nicely paved walkway, 2 KM long. In the back, 2 streets away, there are several nice restaurant. My room had a sea view. Although there is no gym or pool, I was able to jog in the morning. A nice place to relax.

Hotel needs renovation-old furniture, some lamps in room are not working, there are only plastic glasses and all of them were broken. Breakfast was poor.
