great to have been one of the first guests at the Fairmont. Great atmosphere; staff was clearly excited to make it a success. The usual start-up problems but no issue for us. Great room and the usual excellent concierge service. Spirits Bar is great. Hotel looks beautiful. Only bit confusing was the check-in/out on 6th floor, which required a bit of luggage hauling.

« Best location and good service »

The hotel is located at the best place in Copacabana, views from our room and from the pool are amazing, the beach service is great. A few negative things though, there were cigarette butts in our balcony (and the hotel was smoke free), not enough toiletries in the room, we had to ask the cleaners for extra twice, reception was not flexible to let us leave 30 minutes later on our departure date. But apart from the above we had a great time in Rio, we look forward to coming back.

The room smelled like moist old wood, everyday I went to take a bath the water was cold and I had to (everytime) call the number and ask for them to warm the water so I could use it. the food was ok, nothing special and the really good thing I had was a good air coinditioner. I don't intend to stay more times because I'm platinum in SPG using sheraton and their overall rate I would give is way superior than yours. even with the "classic" room

The hotel is closing for renovations and that was not indicated on the website ot when booking. Because of closing, the Exec Lounge does not work. No recognition of the Platinum status - no upgrade, no drink voucher offered (had to ask myself - the response was - "we do not have any more printed vouchers"...), no written welcome note from the manager/welcome gift as in all Accor properties. I understand the hotel is closing for renovation but that does not mean rules how Platinum benefits can be completely ignored. Unprofessional reception staff (Natasha). I understand the Lounge was closed but there should be a solution - clients informed in advance (I would have booked another hotel as I had chosen Sofitel because I expected benefits going with my loyalty card) or provided with an alternative. I had a similar situation of a Lounge closure in Pullman and that was dealt with very professionally offering complimentary dinner, breakfast and minibar. I explained to the manager my expectations were not met and as "compensation" I was offered a drink in the bar which I was supposed to get as Platinum member anyway and "free breakfast" which I would have received as well as snacks, drinks in the Lounge. Breakfast choice was below Sofitel standard though restaurant staff was nice and helpful. The hotel in in a perfect location, 2 pools are nice but no service by the pool - I stayed there for over an hour and have not seen any staff to order drinks. A customer pays Sofitel rates and expects certain level and when one does not get Sofitel standard service which is rather disapointing.

Very good in one way: staff treated us very well indeed, upgraded room and breakfast were good. BUT the website & App fade to mention that the Club was closed (major disappointment), and that other facilities were winding down. Knowing ahead of time would have made ALL the difference.

Hello, I am extremely upset about my stay at the Sofitel ... I stayed at the hotel several times in the last few years and many times in other Sofitel and I was APPALLED ... 1. my room was dirty (very dusty) when I arrived and the shower did not work (they fixed it). the rooms smell like mildew and my entire wardrobe stank 2. I wish I could send you the pictures I took of the water stains, mildew and other wall cracks I took (happy to provide) 3. I am a woman travelling alone for business ... I wasn't made aware that there was NO bar and NO restaurant open in the hotel beside the "Atlantis" where the food is really really LOW standard and the service (previously fabulous) was pathetic ... I waited 45 minutes for a salad that was barely edible; the croissants are stale and the fish for dinner was frozen ... 4. There is no concierge in a 5 stars hotel ... beside "Mohammed" at the reception (who did the best he couldd) ... the rest of the staff barely said hello and was absolutely disengage 5. my Iphone 7 headset disappeared from my room, I should have put them in the safe ... but yet, I don't think this is acceptable ... fist time anything ever happens in your hotel I completely understand that you are about to renovate your hotel ... but I paid for a 5 stars stay and felt like I spent a week at Motel 6 ... I should have been told ahead of time that I would not be able to have a meal at the hotel and an effort clearly should be made to go the extra mile for your guests when you know the rooms are in such a poor shape. Had I not been travelling for work and made my reservation with our travel agency, I would have left and changed location ... I am extremely upset about this stay and about the Sofitel brand in general for allowing this to happen & happy to discuss with you if you want my opinion ... my email is pe… Regards,

I love staying at this hotel, however the room I stayed this time (# 738) was full of mold and apparently some works in the bathroom has not been completed. I have asked for a room change and apparently the rate of my reservation would not allow the change, which was very strange giving my experience at Sofitel Hotels.

I enjoy the room that was given to me. Breakfast buffet and fitness club were both great. I missed that shower gel and shampooing were not replaced every day and that my minibar still water was not refilled. Service at the restaurant was not good at all, quite slow, but it's a constant in this hotel for the last 3 years.

I had a very nice view from my room, but I got this room only after I had asked. As a frequently user of Accor hotels and staying so many times at Sofitel Copacabana I would have expected the offering while checking-in. What definitively is unsatisfactory is the water System. Either you get burned or it is freezing under the shower, changing within seconds - dangerous and not acceptable for such a hotel!!

The hotel has a great location, nice view, but is very expensive and pricewise I considered the rooms too old, with poor infrastructure. I forgot a cell phone battery charger in the room and asked for that at the reception at the same date of the checkout, but I was told it was not found and with no much worry about it.

Sofitel is a very good hotel, luxury, comfortable and with a high level of service. I only have 2 points: 1- I seated on the restaurant/bar, my intent was only drink something, as I have eaten at the airport, but later we decided to order something to eat. It was not late, around 22:10h and there was nothing available to eat anymore, what surprised me considering the level of the hotel. 2- I have been choosing Accor on all my trips and I achieved Gold Status, that should mean some special treatments, as for an example, room upgrade when available. I don't see anything different at all, not only in Sofitel but also in Mercure, I am at this time spending at Mercure Lagoa dos Ingleses in Belo Horizonte and I should expect a room with a lagoon view, for example, but they never give me anything different or better, so, what's the really benefits that Gold Status bring me and why should I perceive Platinum Status? That's my points. But my stay was very good as a whole.
