« No one seemed to know the inclusions of our booking. »

- Staff unable to find that room service breakfast was included in our "Weekend Getaway" package when we enquired about how to go about ordering. - Ordered off the room service menu (to be hung on door for collection no later than 2 am) as we did not hear back from staff about this. Selected 08… time slot. - At approx. 1015am, no breakfast arrived. We checked the door handle to our room, and the menu had not been collected, even though we had out it out at about 10pm the following evening. Called reception. Handled well, polite and apologetic. Disappointing that we had to chase this up. - We were told our late check-out was 5pm. We were surprised when housekeeping walked into our room at 1115am while we were undressed. There was no door knock, so we assume they were not informed that we would be checking out later than the usual time of 11am. I am sure this would have been highly embarrassing for the staff member, let alone alarming for us. - Received email today informing us that we left lost property (underwear and a swimsuit) in the room. Neither myself not my husband packed swimwear and all underwear is accounted for here at home. At this point, I decided to give feedback about our experience because of the sheer amount of errors that we have not experienced at any other hotel we have stayed at. We paid extra for this special package and nothing was delivered without us chasing it up. - All emails I received confirming the booking stated that the inclusions were "late check out, room service breakfast in bed, and room upgrade if available". I booked directly through Accor Hotels so I don't understand where the errors happened. None of what was included in our booking seemed to be available to staff and we had to follow everything up. This did not make for a relaxing stay.

Our stay the Wellington Grand Mercure was lovely. Our room was very clean, the service at the reception and restaurant/bar was great the staff were very polite and we’re attentive. We used the pool which was clean and provided towels and robes which I thought was great. Would definitely stay again :)

Nice hotel and lovely staff but the walls are very thin. I stayed on level 2 and could hear other guests talking in their rooms (no one was being louder than normal). I kept getting woken up by hearing other guest talking, could even hear someone going to the toilet in the middle of the night, not a great experience.

« Nice place but noisey room next door. »

I liked the room, the atmosphere, the location and pool. But the expensive room I had was not so good as had an internal locked door to another suite that allowed all the noise to ne heard. The occupant phoned everyone on her contact list and retold the same story. Fortunately this ended at about 11am otherwise I would have had to ask to be moved.

We were greeted by an extremely helpful member of staff who helped with our luggage, showed us around the hotel and gave us some information about Wellington. All the hotel staff were just as friendly and great. The room was extremely comfortable and the hotel is a short walk from the main streets in town. It all made for a great experience at this hotel.

« Friendly hotel, with great service and at walking distance to the city »

Overall, we were pretty satisfied with our stay at the Grand Mercure Wellington. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful, always with a smile and willingness to help, the hotel and room themselves were pretty spacious, clean, comfortable bed, Bose sound system, Nespresso machine and good quality toiletries in the bathroom. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a good spread and great quality. The only issue that possible detracts some points from the good experience: the noise that was coming from the elevators when we were moved from our room to another not far from the main elevator hall (due to the first room given to us being a connecting family room where we could hear all the conversations taking place on the other side of the door).
