The hotel is beautiful, nice decor and very well decorated common areas. The food at breakfast was delicious and very varied, we could choose from a range of products and we enjoyed that. The structure of the hotel is deficient in a few points. We found the pool quite small, the area for the sun beds is very small as well - but there isnt much you can do about it. The gym area is EXTREMELY small and poorly equiped, it did not look like a gym of a 5 stars hotel. You really need to improve it. The service of the hotel was deficient as well. We felt the waiters were all poorly trained. The reception and concierge were all super nice but their service was also poor. Ive asked concierge to make a reservation at a restaurant in Bayone and a few days later to confirm it. They did it but they forgot to let me know the restaurant was going to be closed and they confirmed reservation was made. So we went to Bayone to have lunch there and found the restaurant closed. The hotel would highly benefit from a shuttle service to city centre. The pool bar is never open and there is never anyone there. We wanted to badly to have drinks at the pool and food but we had to go to a small phone to call the bar and then wait for them to come. We just didnt bother... We believe the hotel is good, for a 4 stars. You guys have to earn better that fifth star...

« A disappointing 5* »

This landmark property no longer reflects the prestige of old times. Services except for housekeeping and concierge is absent. Reception staff do not smile, rooms are small with carpet and paint in poor condition. Basic amenities are absent. Breakfast is basic and packed with staff not looking after your needs but in rush to finish their work. Management has not been seen in a week. Golf view is in fact a parking view!!!!!!

Unacceptable service through an untrained staff at breakfast and at the bar. Especially at breakfast the waiters have no clue how to behave in a 5 star hotel. Management does a very bad job to train the staff

I was travelling around the Pyrenees by bike when I became very ill. After a week in hospital in Bayonne I needed somewhere restful to recuperate. I could not have found a better place. I was treated with kindness by all the staff.

« Elegant, memorable and very comfortable. »

We truly enjoyed our stay. The concierge team was wonderful in assisting us with making plans, Sergei worked magic in coordinating details we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to arrange. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. The connecting room for the kids was wonderful they enjoyed having their own space as did we! We also enjoyed our evening walk to town and the access to the quieter, less crowded beaches with wonderful views. We hope to return in the very near future!

Pretty hotel. Friendly and accommodating service. Very expensive for food and drink, when there are many options available nearby. Biggest issue, is that the hotel ran out of towels. This is a spa/beach hotel. It is fundamental to have enough towels. Makes me wonder what else was overlooked (security? Who knows. If it is the kind of place that runs out of towels, what else might they be doing?)

The Regina sits proud on the hill close to the lighthouse, and with it's splendid decor and friendly staff is the 'must go to' destination in Biarritz. We enjoy our stay every time and will look forward to returning in the Autumn. Superb.

A lovely hotel with friendly service. However, for a 5 star hotel there were a few things that could be improved. There was no where to hang anything in the bathroom, the hairdryer was very old and difficult to use, we couldn't get hold of room service or reception on the phone and there was very limited service around the pool area - one person every hour or so. Nothing huge, but disappointing given the price and star rating of the hotel.

The hotel was first class. Breakfast was very varied with plenty to choose from. The swimming pool area was comfortable in a lovely position that you could see the lighthouse. The location is brilliant with a short walk into town. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Rooms comfortable ask for a sea view and walk in shower. Very plush.

Lovely hotel, with amazing atrium & bar area, the rooms were very well decorated with the best hotel bathroom shower I’ve ever experienced. The concierge was extremely helpful and recommended/booked fabulous restaurants especially the local Gastro Bistro which is amazing! There were a couple of negatives, the outside swimming pool area overlooked the hotel carpark, so not exactly a chillout area or nice lookout, the other one was the gym which was a disgrace, in a small basement room, the entry door didn’t close properly, the air con was ineffective & dripped water onto the treadmill’s belt whilst I ran, which was not only unpleasant, but caused a health & safety issue as dangerous whilst running on, the room was too small for the equipment and needed a good clean.

After travelling for a week through the delightful Spanish Basque country for our honeymoon, we arrived to Biarritz and checked into the Le Regina -- they told us in the front that they have given us an upgrade -- as soon as we entered the room we realized that the upgrade was to put us in a handicapped room with a view of the parking lot (instead of the city view we had booked). We then went out to explore the city and when we got back later that evening the room stank of cigarette smoke (we later realized this is a common complaint of guests in that room) and they made us feel like they were doing us a favor by switching our rooms (after an hour of investigations) and then letting us know that if we wanted, we could upgrade for a water view for an extra sum of money. This really made us feel quite insulted at this point -- all we wanted was a nice place to sleep without the stench of cigarette smoke in the air. All in all the customer service was terrible and I found the front desk to be extremely unhelpful in the ordeal. I'd suggest staying elsewhere -- the hotel is at most a 4 star in terms of accommodations and a 1 star in terms of customer experience. A true disappointment. NB kudos to the manager however, who was quite understanding and friendly, but alas only available the next morning.

Dinner was outstanding (we had the tasting menu.) Service was excellent. Only disappointment was the room terrace - right alongside a busy road with no view.
