The Rotterdam shower had a non slip floor, the one in Charleroi did not and it felt slippery - did not feel too safe when entering or leaving. Breakfast fine, reception fine but with only one person manning reception and the bar simultaneously it dsid not seem very efficient.

The Ibis Charleroi is a nice hotel within its market. The experience with this hotel exceeded my expectations. I very much enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. The lady cook/restaurant attendant was very pleasant. The Belgian waffles were quintessential in Charleroi. However, when a hotel back-pours cane/table syrup into a ‘Maple Syrup’ bottle, it is always humorous- Hotels in China do this frequently. I am aware that I am staying in an economy hotel, so please, just serve whatever product in the original vessel or transfer it into one unmarked. I would like extend my gratitude via Ibis Charleroi to Ms. Sondreau (sp?). She was very helpful upon initial contact and reservation booking. She was able to answer my all of my questions. Her communication skills were clear and concise, giving me the confidence to know that after I arrive from traveling half-way around the earth, I would encounter no surprises. Coincidentally, upon check-in 03Aug, Ms. Sondreau maintained consistency with my initial impression, i.e.-impressed. Also, she went out if her way to help me with a couple of small items that I very much appreciated. Again, thank you to Ms. Sondreau. In addition, I would like to thank the young lady (I did not receive her name) at the front desk on the morning of 04Aug, who completed my check-out very fast and also helped me with transportation times and other questions. Great Hotel on the River, very close to everything, it looks was exceptionally hot during my stay, 45C+ and the air conditioner in the room was fantastic. Excellent staff, the young lady at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and very friendly.

There was a large group of tourists during my visit. Because of this, when I arrived at the morning breakfast, it was completely empty and had not been kept up with. Luckily, I gave myself plenty of time for breakfast as I planned to complete business as I ate. I had to ask several times for specific items to be replenished. I feel I should have either been waived or received a discount for the breakfast. Additional employees need to be scheduled when groups are staying at your hotel.

I really enjoyed this hotel whcih is in the city center in fornt of the station. The people are fantastic, Bruno the receptionist very helpful as alwas and Isabelle charming too. It makes a worldof difference because you feel welcome.

It was basically good but the room was rather cramped and the breakfast bowls were rather mean so two servings of cereal were needed. The absence of apple mousse was a disappointment as I have grown used to it as part of my IBIS experience. But the fittings and decor were of good quality.

Hotel is excellently placed for the railway station 5 mins walk together with the centre of the town. The hotel reception was first class, very organised and efficient, room was a decent size, in good condition and clean. It also had a small but well stocked bar area. We did not take breakfast so i cannot comment on this. Whilst we were there there was a small fire (23.30) at night and in the reception area. We therefor had to vacate the hotel. The hotel personnel dealt with this situation well, unfortunately the local services (particularly police who seemed to be in charge) did not resulting in us being left outside until 0140 on a very cold morning, not the hotels fault.

« I was very stressed and disappointed »

I arrived at midnight, from the airport. I checked in nicely, the staff member was very nice. However, the room had a door to another double room, and there is no sound isolation at all. I took the hotel in order to have a good night's sleep before another flight. In reality, I had to listen to everything the couple behind the wall did and said - and I can't blame them but the hotel. I could hear their every step, every work, how they go to the toilet. This is completely unacceptable when you pay for a separate room, not a shared room!

Location is very good, near the train station but too much noise in the hallway (sound insolation issue). The superior room is simple, nothing special but the quality of the mattress is good. Overall, the price per night (100 €) is too expensive for the quality. At least the breakfast should be included.
