« Romantic Getaway »

The Hotel room was amazing and had a great sleep. The next day however, we were booking out at 11 so just stayed in the room. Housekeeping knocked at the door about 4 times and opened it. We did not have the sign out as we were checking out this day and felt rushed to leave due to this. I was very annoyed as we have stayed at many hotels and this has never happened on check out day.

« Novotel Hamilton Tainui is our favourite hotel when we are in the Hamilton area. »

We realize that that hotel is undergoing renovations but the carpet was disappointingly grubby. This especially important as it is not possible to open the window to let in fresh air. Otherwise, the staff and dining room services were excellent.

« Nice, quiet and comfy! »

Room was lovely and spacious and recently redecorated. Bed was comfy. Only one con about the whole experience was the squeaky bathroom door which had a very loud squeak. Our room faced the main street, but we could not hear any road noise. One hint is to do the valet parking if you take a car rather than saving $5 on self parking.

We had heard great things of Tainui - particularly the restaurant and the rooms, so we chose Tainui for Valentine’s night, booking a premium room. We were very disappointed that our room was on a construction floor, with very dusty carpet liner outside our room, which we couldn’t help walk in to our room - leaving dusty footprints on the carpet. The room was ok but the large ‘dings’ in the desk area where something had been dropped let it down, as did the remaining debris/renovation dust in the bathroom. Further, the next morning when I left our room about 8am, construction had already started for the day in the room opposite - on full view with the door open & not at all conducive to valentines romance. The menu in the dining room was ok but not as inspiring as I had been lead to believe. There were no ‘ordinary’ bottles of bubbles on the menu - just very expensive ones. Our starters both being fried was a disappointment. We saw two other tables of diners be brought food that wasn’t theirs - including one couple who were sharing a dessert & then had someone else’s main course delivered to them. Finally, we gave up waiting for the waitress to come back & offer us dessert. We tried many times to catch someone’s eye but to no avail. We gave up, getting a Baileys from the bar to take back to our room. All in all, not a $400 experience, which is what the night cost us.

« Extremely comfortable »

The staff were all very well mannered ,helpful and smiling .Nothing was a problem to them . Your fridge was full of inviting morsels but watch the use by date as the items in the draw were getting warm from the fridge .We would recommend our usual cereal bar Go Bars made by baker girl . We had a very special weekend and many thanks to Catherine at the Front desk who smoothly extended our stay from one night to three nights . I hope she had a special Valentines Day .Thank you all

« Everything I Expect From Novotel »

I stayed one night at the Novotel Hamilton in February 2018. Although I arrived relatively early, my room was available. The reception staff were very friendly. The valet parking was very efficient and the room was at the normal Novotel high standard. The only negative about the hotel is the lack of parking at the front. On most occasions the car park was full and occupied by cars owned by people who were at the hotel for several hours. There was no designated space for new arrivals to permit them to check in and unload luggage.
