Facilities were great, room was spacious and clean, and bed was large and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Only reason this didn't score higher was for breakfast. I ordered 2 poached eggs with bacon. Both eggs arrived on one piece of toast (I would expect one piece per egg) and one of the eggs arrived was hard boiled not poached. Furthermore the eggs and bacon were tepid in temperature at best and very quickly became cold. There was no check back and because I was in a rush to catch my flight and hungry I ate the food. If I had more time I would have sent it back and I'm sure this would have been fixed. Disappointed that no one checked though. However the coffee was great and service speedy. This was the only negative of my stay but was my last experience of the hotel which is a shame.

The facilities were exceptional and the staff could not be more pleasant and helpful going out of their way to meet our every need. The hotel was well situated and the views from our room was stunning. « Another return visit to the Grand »

The Grand can be relied upon for the high quality and comfort of the accommodation, but a hotel is a lot more than a building and I find that the staff go out of their way to be helpful. As we have been staying at the Grand over a long period, it's good to meet with staff who have also been working at the hotel for many years. They greet you like old friends and find time to have a chat with you. Thank you again for your hospitality to Luca, Hester, Lillian and Anwar at breakfast and to Dennis in the Flying Dutchman bar. With regard to breakfasts, there is a wide range of cold items at the buffet. In many hotels, the hot items are in those steel containers which keep the food just about warm. At the Grand the large selection of hot items are all cooked for you. Breakfasters may like to know that if they want a glass of champagne with their food, all they have to do is ask. A couple of comments on the website: 1. We require rooms with twin beds. If researching hotels in a city we have not visited, we immediately dismiss those which have not got twin beds. At the Grand we use the Luxury rooms and depending on which thing you click on, you may get the impression that the rooms only have king size beds. Because I've stayed here frequently, I know that twin beds are available, but newbies might get a different impression. 2. Although not stated on the website (as far as I can see) the rooms have a kettle as well as a Nespresso coffee machine. I find that tea made in coffee machines never produces good results as the water is not hot enough, so a kettle is useful for tea drinkers.

« Our wedding anniversary celebrated in The Grand: fantastic and unforgettable »

For our fifth wedding anniversary we've booked a room at The Grand and we had one of the best hotel experiences ever. Especially in a very touristic city -which Amsterdam is- it is very hard to find hotels with this level of quality and service. It was above our expectations. The staff was extremely helpful, personal and friendly. Not something you find very often. We stayed in one of the Imperial suites. The Grand is located on a very historic location at the famous Amsterdam canals close to all the highlights of the city. Bridges, the Michelin star restaurant of The Grand is a high recommendation. The suite was extremely spacious with a very good large bed and the bathroom included a steam with rain shower. Breakfast was served in the room and was very tasteful (I've ordered Egg Benedict) and well prepared. The Grand made our fifth wedding anniversary unforgettable. It’s a very high recommendation, it will make your stay in Amsterdam fantastic. Compliments and a very big thank you to the staff and management of the hotel.

Great atmosphere & staff, breakfast was awesome with a garden view, room a bit on the small side. Needs USB Ports, bathroom door doesn’t close properly.. was with daughter, couldn’t get a double bed and sofa bed, either twin or queen only, which wasn’t great, but it was fine.

We loved our stay at the Sofitel Legend Grand Hotel. The historic structure is beautiful and incredibly well maintained. Our room was nicely appointed and very comfortable. The location was perfect for our fist trip to Amsterdam. We could walk everywhere!

A few hickups since I was initially sent to the wrong room, but other than that I had a very good stay. Great room, friendly staff, and a very nice selection for breakfast
