« Room was nice, food was poor »

The room was nice and clean, the shower is fab. I have stopped in this hotel a few times but this was the first and last time I will have food here. The chicken and bacon pizza was not chicken and not bacon, all the meat was processed and only the colour resembled chicken or bacon. We also ordered cheese and ham toastie off the 24hr menu at around 10.30pm. They had run out of ham so we settled for cheese toastie. It was more like a cheese sandwich than toastie as the cheese was slightly warm but nowhere near melted and the the toast was tough to bite into like it had been warmed in a microwave. Won’t make that mistake again.

Just a few minor things really, one hand towel and one bath towel not enough for two people, had to ask for more. Both room keys failed during the stay. Pillows extremely uncomfortable. Bonus.......Staff were really nice and helpful when contacted.

« Not the room we were expecting »

I have stayed here a few times as it’s convenient to visit our son in university, and have always been satisfied with our stay. We arrived at 8pm and were put into a disabled room; I requested a room change but were informed they were fully booked. The room was very claustrophobic, the bathroom floor was constantly wet and slippery (heaven knows how disabled people manage). I do not like a shower curtain and this particular curtain was too short which made the water flood the bathroom and I had to use one of the 2 towels to avoid slipping. The bottom of the curtain alongside the underside of the seat were brown and need replacing. I was unable to sleep as the smoke alarm constantly flashed above by head all night On a plus side, the staff and the breakfast were at its usual good standard

Room was clean, breakfast was good, staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the floor was wet around the door and bathroom area. There must have been a leak. We reported it to reception, but as it was a weekend I guess there was no one to see to it. I was cold on the first night and had to use the radiator in the room. Was the heating working? My mother didn't feel able to use the shower as there are no handles to hold onto and she was frightened in case she slipped and fell. I have mentioned this to the hotel before after our last visit. Perhaps you could designate some rooms to be elderly friendly?

Staff were extremely rude and clearly didn’t want us there for some reason, they had turned out electric of half way through our stay and woke us up at 9 am when checkout isn’t until 12 then had the audacity to bill is 50 pound on our card for ‘smoking’ which we didn’t even smoke in the room. Currently being investigated as I am on the camera numerous times going out and back in from smoking. The manager is unprofessional and uncooperative. Will not be returning here and do not recommend for younger clientele as you will be discriminated against.

I understand that after your check out we found the room with very strong smoking smell from illegal substances, that it was clearly explained at the time that the hotel is 100% non-smoking. There are clear signs displayed at strategic points around the hotel and in all the bedrooms warning guests of the fines incurred for smoking in the rooms or hotel public area. We do demand high standards of service from all our personnel and whilst all staff receive extensive training. We expect our staff to handle all situations with the utmost courtesy, sympathy and helpfulness and we deeply regret the adverse impression you gained on this occasion. Please rest assured that your comments have been passed on to the relevant management teams for their further internal handling. « Room smelt of sewerage »

We had to move rooms because the bathroom smelt of sewerage. We then found the second room had the same problem. The smell was coming up from the hand washbasin, if you pushed the plug in the smell went. The smell was so bad we were reaching when we went into the bathroom. The staff were very helpful and polite.

Chechin was fine as was the service in the evening for bar and restaurant service. Room could do with some maintenance in the bathroom but on the whole everything excet our check out was fie. We received an email to say we just needed to leave our key in the room or box, but reception staff said otherwise and accused us of not paying. This was infact an error on their part as they hadnt put the charge through from what we had provided. They need education in dealing with customers and proper training. Not once did they apologise for the issue. They made us feel like criminals which is totally unacceptable and unprofessional.

« Worst breakfast! »

Really easy check-in. Itwas exactly as I'd expect for a city centre hotel. The room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. I was a little disappointed that the bar closed at 11pm (on the dot) on a Saturday night. Now for the bad...breakfast! Breakfast ends at 12 o'clock so we thought we would go down at 11am. Here we go - Every single table was stacked with dirty plates, I cleaned one myself. There were no clean plates or cutlery. There was no bacon, sausage or white bread. The choice was: beans, hash browns, very grey, dry, solid scrambled egg and peas!!!!!! Breakfast isn't the be all and end all of a hotel stay but it should at least be edible and clean! Sorry Ibis but you let yourself down with this.
