« Pleasant »

Nice, spacious room and comfy bed. Good check-in but was told my room upgrade was complimentary and was then charged for it. Staff weren’t very attentive at breakfast and our table was cleared when we weren’t finished - we left for 2 minutes to get juice. Overall despite these things it was a nice stay and I appreciated the atmosphere of the hotel.

Good location, good facilities, but low level of restaurant.

« Home from Home »

It is always a pleasure to return and stay at Mercure London Bridge. We are greeted like friends and made to feel welcome. From front of house to the staff at breakfast, always pleasant and helpful.

« Not quite what we expected from a 4 star hotel. »

Some positive things to point out: The hotel has a great location and offers easy access for travellers from abroad. Lobby staff was very attentive, friendly and handled the check-in process efficiently. I liked the welcome drink voucher (silver member this year, gold member next year) and the bar area. I also appreciate that I was able to have event tickets sent to the hotel prior to our stay that were kept there and handed over upon our arrival. There were free, tasty cookies in the lobby area, when we arrived, which was a nice idea. Sadly we didn't see anymore cookies after the day of our arrival, even though the sign remained on that particular table in the lobby. The room (603) itself looked nice and clean at first. However there were quite a lot of negative things we noticed on second sight that unfortuneately turned this into a disappointing stay in the end. As I've got my fair share of back problems due to a health condition I was disappointed to see that the mattresses were a bit saggy. During the whole of our stay I couldn't sleep that well (had to take painkillers one night), even though I found the room to be pleasantly quiet for a big city. Of all the Accor Hotels I stayed at so far, I dare say this had the worst bed. I disliked that there were only relatively hard pillows, no soft ones. My partner, despite not experiencing pain, wasn't too happy about the bed either. In the bathroom there was a bit of black mold in the shower and also behind the sink. For some reason there was no toilet brush. On some spots at the ceiling the paint started to peel. What I found inapproptiate for a 4 star hotel: The water tap had a visible limescale buildup. I noticed that also on one of the dials in the shower. The rain shower's outlet also was spotty. Why did nobody take care of that? Behind the door, right next to the toilet, there is sort of a maintenance hatch that had a lot of grey dust/mold (don't know) around the edges. Some of the tiles (for example next to the door, opposite the toilet) showed dirty spots that could easily have been cleaned. The toilet paper holder apparently was a bit wobbly, so someone "fixed it" by visibly sticking a folded up bit of toilet paper in it. The clock that's integrated in the bathroom mirror didn't work and I found the lighting quite bad. For shaving I had to clear away all our things, because the shaving mirror is exactly where there's the only space to place toiletries. It would be nice to have an alarm clock in the room. We had to use the alarm on our phones. From the second day on I always noticed a weird smell upon entering the room which might have come from the ac unit. I liked that we had a Nespresso coffee maker in the room and also a water cooker which we used extensively on the first and second day of our stay. However, on the third day our room was seemingly forgotten by room service. The lady on duty saw us leave (and greeted us) some time between 9 and 10 am on Saturday, August 30th. When we came back in the late afternoon, the room however was exactly as we left it, i. e. no new coffee/tea and unmade beds, used towels. We had left a tip on the pillow that we recovered. We ultimately decided against leaving a tip. (On the last day we left the "do not disturb" sign out until check-out and didn't see the cleaning lady again.) In my booking confirmation it said that the room came with a mini-bar. Except for the coffee and the tea maker (that were mentioned separately in the room description) there was just a mini-fridge used to cool milk capsules. Nothing else. I expected to at least have water or soft-drinks when a mini-bar is advertised. I should also mention that there is far too little space in the closet for two people. The room is definitely big enough to fit a larger closet. By the way: At other Accor hotels there always was a hotel directory in the room. I didn't find that here. I had to look up all things about the hotel on the internet. Wi-Fi signal was there most of the time, but the connection felt too slow, so I decided to use my regular service via the smartphone's antenna instead, which worked better. On this, my sixth trip to London (definitely not the last), it was the first time I chose the Mercure London Bridge. Even though I really like the convenient location and the area around the hotel, I probably wouldn't return to the Mercure London Bridge though. What good is a gym at a 4 star hotel (which I didn't use), if the beds, the bathroom and the closet aren't up to the 4 star standard? I wish I had better things to say.

« Comfortable and convenient »

I didn’t get time to use any of the hotel facilities but the room was and bathroom were perfect and it was in a good area.

« Overpriced and poor quality room. »

The reception design and corridors are very nice, but the bedroom is probably the worst designed I have ever stayed in. Room 605 - I recommend that somebody from the hotel tries to run a bath, and then turn the water the shower screen does not move and its very hard to reach the tap - and make sure you turn it the right way otherwise the shower will come on.

« Very smart, clean hotel with a welcoming atmosphere »

We really liked the detail such as the painted room doors and home made cookies. We felt welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in London.

Over all a clean hotel, with a nice room. Unfortunately I asked for early check in , I was told to wait an hour to check in, so I did. Then after an hour I was told that it would be another hour and a half. They said parking at the hotel, only a small court yard for about 5/6 cars, had to wait an hour for a space. Food/breakfast was very nice .

« Brilliant »

It was my daughters 11th birthday and the hotel and staff made a real fuss of her. The touches were really appreciated eg, balloons and birthday cheesecake. Also our room hadn’t been logged from so we were delayed and then received a complimentary upgrade

« Perfect for a city break. »

Very happy with the hotel overall. Good theme, helpful and friendly staff, good breakfast. The only downside were the very hard beds and pillows.

Kevin Families - 02/09/2019 AccorHotels review
« A Good Choice »

The hotel was recommended to us for both its location and for the high standard of service which the hotel staff provide to guests. Accor has adopted a “Heartist” program and it is obvious that this hotel fully embraces its ideals. The room was on the 7th floor and gave access to a little balcony which gave a wonderful retreat after the labour of sightseeing.
