« Practical hotel but lacks ability to adequately communicate with guests »

I've been a member of Accor Loyalty Program for many years and in this time I've stayed in many hotels within the group around the Globe. A few things are consistent in my experience: 1. Excellent Beds & Bed linen; 2. Clean bedrooms & bathrooms; 3. Great customer service. In the Novotel Sao Paulo 1 & 2 above are consistent. Sadly, the customer service is lacking. The inability to communicate in English is rather concerning in a 4* International hotel in my view. Whilst I can appreciate that this hotel is in Brazil and the native language is Portuguese, this hotel promotes towards an international audience and for this reason, a basic understanding of English is required. Not everyone has Google Translate easily available. When trying to speak with the staff (with the exception of perhaps 2 people - one on reception and the restaurant manager), no one else seemed to speak or understand English and made no attempts to help when I clearly cant speak or understand Portuguese. The impact led to greater frustration. Secondly, knowing that I was expecting a late departure from the hotel, I requested a late check-out. This was refused. So I requested that I can still use the hotel leisure facilities, in order that I could perhaps take a swim and shower before departing for the airport in the afternoon. This was also refused by the Front Desk clerk. Impact - I departed from the hotel at Checkout and spent 5 hours at the airport - I can understand not permitting a late Checkout if the hotel is full (which I was advised was the case on the day of my departure), but in all my years of staying with Accor Hotels, using the leisure facilities has never been an issue previously so I fail to understand why this hotel refuses to let quests (who have stayed for almost 2 weeks) to spend an extra hour or so in the leisure facilities prior to departure). Overall - the lack of ability to communicate in English and the refusal to either a late checkout or access to the leisure facilities, leaves me wondering where I will stay on my next trip to Sao Paulo - it's unlikely to be the Novotel.

When I got to my room I realised that my international plug did not work in your sockets. I went to reception asking to borrow one and was told they did not have any more (had lent them all already) and they suggested I bought one from them. I refused and it took a long time before the receptionist finally lent me one. He used a lot of excuses before finally agreeing. I think you should have enough plugs for your internation guests in a Novotel. My international plug works in other hotel so, obviously you are aware of that problem.

Hotel staff was uncharacteristically inattentive and dismissive compared to other Novatel properties that I stayed with. The breakfast was had no variety from day to day and the staff in the Gourmet Bar and sushi restaurant were lack luster.

The hotel is very nice overall but the bathrooms are old and worn. They have the look and feel of a dirtiness. The toilet clogged almost everyday.

The location was great to attend the exhibition in Expo Norte. The breakfast was good and bed was great. Only one thing that I do not like was I hear a lot of noise from other rooms.

I stayed one night in the novetel sao paulo centre Norte poor breakfast spread for a hotel of this standard, checkin at reception was slow when we arrived, clueless concierge service when asked for restaurant recommendations and no help with baggage to the room at arrival. Wouldn’t recommend or stay there again

« Convention hotel !! »

Normally Novotel network provides quite nice service. There is always an exception. My stay there was not good one . No welcome smile at all at the time of check-in . No happy face employees . Surprising !! I am premium status holder from hotel membership , but no recognition . I was disappointed , and try not to return there again. There are many hotels available there.
