« Excellent value for money in convenient City Centre location. »

The room was clean, modern and comfortable. It exceeded my expectations for the price that we paid. The location was perfect very convenient for a single business traveler. I loved the $1.00 breakfast and although I had to rush in the morning I was able to enjoy a quick hot meal before flying back. I will definitely look at this hotel as an option on my next Melbourne business trip.

Hotel great position if your a shopaholic in the middle of CBD. Hotel was. Lean very friendly staff. My Accor status was recognised with an upgrade to a renovated room Room was clean which is very important to me The one thing that did disappoint is the breakfast. Unimaginative same food, boring. Unable to order omelette, straight out answer was no when I asked. Considering this hotel is in the middle of Melbourne CBD you would think the barrista would know how to make an espresso. No, further the coffee had a chemical tasted same as the water. I understand the complex is under renovation I hope the breakfast area will be renovated also.

It was a good stay, perfect location, friendly staffs, easy access but there's one thing....dusty. Room is very dusty, it triggered my allergy reaction. I believe it's coming from the air ventilation. I see dust floating in my bathroom and I was very bad. Due to itchiness, I find myself scratching way too much than I supposed to.

This was my 2nd time staying at Mercure Welcome Melbourne. This time I paid the extra and upgraded. Lovely clean room. Only problem was the homeless in Swanston street causing a bit of a ruckus on my final night but all good.

« Great staff but disappointed by rooms »

In a great spot. Staff were amazing. Very friendly and happy to help. But unfortunately the room wasn’t the best. Quite small and run down and bed was very hard and springy. Seeing the roof and hearing the water go through the pipes wasn’t the best. Would t stay again which is a shame because staff were fantastic and location is great.

As usual, Kurston. Ali and his team on Concierge were excellent - they are a credit to your hotel. The restaurant, however, was another story. I hate complaining but you need to refurbish the restaurant and train the wait staff. We were one of approx 6 table = about 8 -10 diners in total. The Restaurant had 4 staff on the floor - 2 waiters, a lady doing room service and a supervisor. They gave us menus and didn't come back to ask for drinks orders. We had to wave them down while they fussed over setting 1 table. We ordered drinks. The waiter didn't know what a white rabbit dark ale was - Ok English was a 2nd language. The we ordered food and I ordered a glass of red wine. The waiter poured the wine and there was about 20 ml left in the bottle. He took the bottle away and left our empty glasses on the table. We finished our meals and we tried to get their attention for another drink and the desert menu. Finally we got a waiter and I ordered a red wine. He left the dirty plates on the table. the other waiter and the room service passed us several times but didnt remove the plates. The beer stubbie and glass was still there too. After a while he came back with two bottles of wine. He proceeded to empty the last 20 ml of wine from the previous bottle into my glass complete with fermentation debris and then opened the other bottle to fill the glass. I pulled him up, explained that you never empty a red wine bottle into a customer's glass because of the muck in the bottom of the bottle and asked for a clean glass. He got the glass and filled it from the fresh bottle and left - leaving the plates and empties on the table. By this time we hadn't much space left on the table. We ordered dessert and asked for the plates to be removed. He removed the plates and left the empty glasses and the beer stubbie on the table. We had dessert and left. We thought it was funny - Fawlty Towers comes to mind - but it was not a good image for the hotel. The food was not good. My wife ordered a prawn avocado salad that had 2 small half prawns in it and looked like mush. The steak was well below the usual standard - somewhat tough and tasteless and no bad boy chips anymore! The restaurant was partitioned off and was devoid of character though waiter watching was entertaining.

The only negative was that we forget to get our parking ticket endorsed and had to pay full price when exiting. Maybe a reminder from reception staff on checkout would have been handy. A small thing, but the only negative experience during the stay.

Having just spent 3 nights in another hotel in Melbourne, my stay at the Mercure Welcome Melbourne was okay and good value for money, but wasn't amazing. The room felt a little run down and the bed was not very comfortable as I could felt the springs through the mattress. While the bed was very big, I couldn't sleep in the middle part of the bed as I could feel what I assume was the mattress join.

I travelled with two under two and from reservation to leaving everyone was fantastic apart from one person. Valet and concierge service helped me unpack and pack the car. Reservations team made sure i had a suitable room for two portacots. Checkin bloke was very helpful. Only downside was when i was requesting my car to be available at 8am and concierge to pick up my bags at 7.50am - the lady behind the counter didn't listen and i had to repeat myself 3x and then my kids started fussing so everything became stressful. Also when checking out with the same lady she ignored me when i asked what CI stood for ( i worked out it was cause i paid on CC) but she almost seemed too busy soon as i checked out. Valet team deserve all the credit as they were super polite, helpful and even gave me a bottle of water for my 4hr drive .
