Room was fine and the staff friendly and helpful The single bed sheet didn't extent to bottom of mattress (stopping ~10cm before the end) and due to my height 6'5" this was noticeable during my sleep until I got up and readjusted it Food was ok, however I wasn't impressed based on the price paid for the food.

The room had no window or proper ventilation, bathroom had no ventilation at all resulting in condensation on the walls in the bedroom after taking a short shower. I woke up every night coughing due to this issue.

« It was 'ok' »

It was ok, the day before we left we went out at 9.30am and when we returned at 4.15pm our room had not been serviced yet. We had to go back out so they could do it. That was disappointing. Then on the day we left they were banging on our door at 8.30am wanting to clean our room. The rubbish was not taken from our room in the whole 3 days we stayed and when we arrived there was rubbish in the bathroom rubbish bin. The fridge was so noisy we had to unplug it at night to get some peace. On a good note, the shower was amazing!

I have stayed at IBIS Ellerslie for many years off and on because of the convenience of the location, without having to be in the City Centre rat race. The last few stays I have found the cost way to expensive for the experience received. It is a very basic hotel with basic rooms. Totally overpriced.

Everything was excellent. We had the buffet breakfast, quite good and value for money with my membership discount. The staff at breakfast though weren't the friendliest. I get that they were probably a bit overwhelmed as there were a few people attending breakfast. However, this should not impact the level of customer service. I had forgotten my membership card so had to give my number off an email on my phone. The manager during breakfast was very unenthusiastic, abrupt and short doing all this. The look he gave me the last morning when I misheard him and said we had two continental breakfasts instead of two cooked breakfasts and he charged me incorrectly.... can literally write books on it. Other than this, all good experiences.

« One of the most unpleasant stays I’ve had »

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I paid $269 for a single king-bedroom Room. And felt that it was a waste of money. The rooms are small which wasn’t an big issue(as most rooms for a single person are, but if I was to stay with my partner; which I do from time to time, this place would not be suitable. The power plug locations are so difficult to find and use, I.e. there’s one by the tv and the other beside the bed, but it’s boxed in with fixed plywood and the alarm clock is plugged in it. I had to stick my hand in this little while and get it out to plug my laptop charger in-thank goodness it reached the study table. The bathrooms are out dated and small! I’m an design architect and know how long ago these old bathroom ‘boxes’ were used. Haven’t seen one in a very long time. There’s no power point to plug the kettle in to, yet there was one supplied for us. I had to plug it in the power point at the bottom of the tv! I ordered room service for my diner, and received no salt and pepper (now this may seem ‘picky’) but I had ordered oysters, and I love my oysters with a pinch of salt. There was no hand towels. The hair dryer was the most budget one I’ve ever seen, took almost an hour to dry my hair (with breaks in between) and didn’t fully dry! it wasn’t working properly. I went downstairs for breakfast the next day and just wanted an egg Benedict; not the breakfast buffet, stood by the bar opposite the breakfast buffet for 5-10mins, only to find no one would serve me, some of the staff over at the buffet could see me but would not make the effort to come help. I ended up walking over to the front desk to ask(politely) if I could please be served at the bar. I couldn’t believe this! For a place that boasts of accommodating events and people of business; I did not feel any service this morning. I stay in a lot of accommodation places from hotels to apartments and Air BnB’s nationwide and wouldn’t pay more than $110 maximum for a place like this! my experience was horrible and shocking!
